Summary:

Arey's Pond Point

The Space:

Kayakers and nature lovers take note! This four-bedroom, two-bathroom house sits on 2+ waterfront acres in Orleans, offering extraordinary privacy with exquisite water views of historic Arey's Pond, part of Pleasant Bay. (Please note, this is a saltwater pond.) The adjoining 11+ acres of conservation land let you leave the crowds behind. Nauset and Skaket Beaches and a local bike trail are all around four miles away via localroads. Even better, two freshwater swimming lakes are within a mile on quiet lanes. This is a great backroad area for walking, biking, and enjoying nature, yet it's convenient to downtown Orleans and Chatham with their great shops and restaurants. There's also convenient access to Arey's Pond, which connects to Pleasant Bay (prime water for sailing), if you provide your own watercraft. The house offers the easy, indoor-outdoor flow of a classic summer home. When you're having a relaxing dinner on the porch after a day at the beach, you'll know what makes Cape Cod so special. The entrance opens up into a hallway, with a tiled kitchen on your left offering all the appliances, cookware, and utensils you need. After preparing a memorable feast, enjoy it in the dining area while indulging in the view of the pond and lively conversation together. The screened porch adjacent to the living room and dining area serves as an excellent alternative. Few things compare to great food while appreciating the westerly breezes and watching the sun go down. The bathrooms were updated in recent years yet remain in perfect keeping with the classic style of the house. This first-floor bathroom includes a vanity and walk-in shower. The first floor hosts two bedrooms, with one featuring a king and the other with two twin beds. The second floor boasts an additional two bedrooms, with one also featuring a king and the other two twins. The twin bedroom even has a writing desk, in case inspiration strikes while observing the pond. The bathroom in the hallway has a tub and a shower, as well as a single-sink vanity. The living room and dining areas have premium views of the pond and sunsets. Take advantage of the sofa and armchairs to relax while viewing your favorite shows on the 42-inch TV before turning in for a blissful night's rest. THINGS TO KNOW Please note this home requires a seven-night minimum stay from late June through early September. There is a mini-split downstairs and a window AC unit upstairs.

Property had a really nice view and was very private. But the listing was mistaken in indicating that there was a kayak and canoe available.

Book it if you want to spoil your vacation. Property is located next to a lake but there is no real access - overgrown grass and bushes, rotten wood and garbage in some spots. Owner confirmed double kayak availability - none was available (~$100 to rent for a few hours). Yard isn't taken care for long time, no pavement, it's just dirty sand in which rainwater made tranches. Unpaved road to the house is riddled with big puddles and overgrown bushes on each side (scratched the car in one spot). Garbage wasn't remove from a few last vacationers. House looks like it's about to fall apart - rotten exterior and mossed roof. Two out of 4 bedroom had no AC, we were lucky to have only 2 hot days, otherwise there were very hoot. No curtains on the windows make rooms looks naked and uncomfortable. Most importantly, property is listed for sale and the owner is just taking advantage of the price hike this year. Property manager, Vacasa, if very hard to reach and just useless when I did get in touch. Stay away from this wreck.

This place felt magical! An updated but simple house with everything you need. The screened porch, the cozy living room, the view of the pond with all the boats, seals in the pond... It was amazing. Thank you for sharing your place with us. By the way, though, Google maps doesn't *exactly* know how to find it. You have to go a bit beyond where it says, then turn right and right again to find it.

You can feel the warm family vibe from this throwback home on a pond. Well, pond is a bit of a misnomer, it’s actually connected to the ocean and we enjoyed seeing the seals playing and hunting for fish in water.

We had a good stay in Orleans. The house was great for our family and we used the Kayak every day.
