WATKINS GLEN GUEST HOUSE, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING!

We had a pleasant stay and appreciated having the home available for our wedding party. That said, there are a few areas that could use attention.The listing describes the property as handicap accessible, but there was no ramp, which may be important for future guests to know. One bedroom also had no hanging closet space, and we noticed a few small items around the home that were broken or in need of repair. The porch and outdoor furniture were covered in dirt and dust, so they were not as usable as we had hoped.The front door could also use some attention. It did not have a deadbolt, only slide latches, and it generally felt like it needed some TLC.Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but addressing these items would make the property more comfortable and accurate for future guests. The property is in a great central location in Watkins Glens. The host provided all the little details you would need for a comfortable stay. which was greatly appreciated. The renovations to the property were also great and seeks to modernize the structure. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms for a large group.

Great location to Wakins Glen State Park and wineries. House was clean and host was response.

Everything went well. There was enough beds to accommodate our group of 6. Very comfortable. One flaw is the bath curtain for the walk in shower. May add a plastic liner or a shower curtain with magnets. The curtain shifted and water got on the floor. Overall very nice renovation.

The house is in a great location and in walking distance to Watkins Glen state park and many restaurants and Seneca Lake marina including Captain Bill’s boat rides. The kitchen and bathrooms are renovated but the house otherwise is dated with old fixtures. It was very spacious for my family of 5, including 3 teens.

Location was great, within walking distance of Walkins Glen park. Some of the neighboring houses were sketchy but there’s nothing that can be done about that. Was disappointed to learn that the air conditioning wasn’t working right before we checked in. While we were thankful for the portable air units, they (along with the box fans) were rather loud- two of the days we were there it was very hot and uncomfortable in any room without the air conditioners (kitchen and bathrooms). There were also ants in the kitchen- they got into our delicious local donuts and we had to throw them out. If I owned or managed this place, I would add nicer outdoor seating and an out door eating table in the back. A little TLC on the outside would go along way. While the house was on a busy street, we found the location extremely convenient; within walking distance to the state park and all the downtown shops and restaurants. Would stay here again if the air was fixed and ants were taken care of.

My husband and I and my sister and brother-in-law stayed for three nights. The house was spacious enough for us to have our own separate spaces to sleep, plus each couple having our own bathrooms was nice. The location was great in terms of walking distance to Watkins Glen State Park and restaurants/shops. All spaces were clean and we had everything we needed for food prep and cooking. There were only two drawbacks for us personally and these may not apply to everyone. One was that there was not a good outdoor space to sit. There are chairs on the side porch, but the road is extremely busy with a lot of trucks going by. The backyard is lovely, but there is no place to sit there. The other drawback was the master suite. The steps leading there are extremely steep. It was obviously an attic at one time. The space there is nice enough, but the ceilings are a bit low. It would work best for children. There is a nice bedroom suite off the kitchen, but that didn’t work for us due to it being right beside the kitchen. Overall, we were pleased with our stay and would consider it again in the future.
