Harpswell, Maine
Watch picturesque sunsets from our post-modern, shingle-style, 4100 sq. foot house with a wrap-around deck on Sebascodegan Island - Casco Bay on a private peninsula with water on all three sides. The property has paths for exploring, gardens, 2,000 feet of shoreline and a dock.
This warm, secluded, and enchanting country home with breathtaking views from every window will make you think you’ve just stepped into a Currier and Ives painting. There are many nearby activities to enjoy such as water skiing, and boating, or you can fish right from the dock. A twenty minute drive will take you to the historic town of Brunswick.
The post-modern, shingle-style, 4100 square-foot house is located on Sebascodegan Island in Casco Bay on the coast of Maine. The property is situated on a totally private, secluded peninsula within the Cundy's Point Association on five-plus acres, with 2000 feet of shoreline. The house is within 50 feet of the water on all three sides. There is a private dock (tidal) which will accommodate a boat of up to 40' and a mooring is provided. To the West are open views of Quahog and Casco bays, Big Hen, Birch Island, and Yarmouth Island. To the East is Ridley Cove and the picturesque fishing village of Cundys Harbor. The International Jet Port is just 50 minutes away.
The sunrises and sunsets from this location are magnificent. There are several paths from the house through the extensive natural landscaping, perennial beds and cutting, vegetable, and herb gardens, which add charm and color all year long. The gardens extend to the sea banks; they are professionally kept and contain peonies, old-fashioned beach roses, lilacs, Asiatic lilies, dahlias, blueberries, wildflowers, lupines, rhododendrons, bayberry, hydrangeas, and foxglove.
The Living Room faces the water with direct access to the wrap-around deck through three sets of French doors and a staircase to the back gardens and deep water channel. The Living Room also has a wood burning fireplace! Directly behind the Family Room is a large, screened porch for waterfront dining and boat watching.
Upstairs there are three large bedrooms and two guest baths. There is one king-sized bed, two queen beds, two queen pull-out beds, and two twin beds. One of the bedrooms has an adjoining sitting room, which can be used as a fifth bedroom.
There is a new, fully equipped, full-sized gym located in the basement consisting of weights, a Bowflex machine, treadmill, exercise bike, and a boxing machine. Photographs will be available shortly.
The property also has a dock for tying up your boat or swimming.
Please note*
There is a cleaning fee of $350 per 7 night stay.
Two week rental tenants are responsible for a mid-stay cleaning of $350.

Lovely setting, though we wish it was a bit closer to groceries, restaurants, etc.
The water views are even better. It's too good for us ;-)
This is a delightful property that affords fantastic views, especially sunsets and easy access to water and other Maine treats. Be advised that at low tide swimming off the dock is not inviting. The kayak had a broken seat back and ruder, so it was unusable. The property needs to be monitored for trash left by previous renters - finding their stuff on the rocks, lawn is a negative. There was a big buildup of trash bags in the garage. While we did not smell it, it gives the impression that no one is on top of maintenance. Similarly, we discovered a water leak in the basement. The owner, handyman and plumber responded immediately, but again it made us wonder about maintenance. With the price tag, everything should be at 100%.
Rick is a terrific host and his home is spectacularly outfitted for the most discerning guests. My family throughly enjoyed breakfasts, dinners and late night wine indulgences with cool breezes on the screened and open porch. His chef's kitchen is fully equipped. We also enjoyed close proximity to Orrs and Bailey Islands trails and beaches. There are great near-by restaurant options such as Iris Eats (Harpswell- amazing gourmet lunch) The School House 1913 (Harpswell) and Primo (Rockland). All in all it was wonderful getaway week. Thank you, Rick!
We truly enjoyed our mid-August stay in this beautiful house, located on an amazingly picturesque point of land. The lovely dock is handy to use to tie up the available kayak and canoe, swim from or sit and read and gaze at the water. Ridley Cove is well protected, perfect for small boats and paddle boards, but not far from open water. The gardens and back deck of the home were lovely, and the home itself was beautifully furnished and elegantly decorated and cozy all at the same time. We spent lots of time on the screened porch enjoying the changing scenery and sunsets on the water! The home and especially the kitchen were very well stocked so we cooked sometimes and also enjoyed take out and meals in the area (Cook's and the Dolphin were favorites). The Sonos linked sound system was a plus for us as well. We highly recommend Wild Oats Bakery in Brunswick for bread, salads, and sweets; Flight Deck Brewing for pizzas; and Holbrooks just down the road for lobster and steamers. Brunswick was a great town to explore and also for buying groceries and stuff. We enjoyed day trips, including to Camden (visit the gardens near the library) and the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens! Ash Cove Pottery and Lands End were good for local gifts. Rick's home is quite private and near a bald eagle sanctuary so we all felt so relaxed there and close to nature. Rick and his local team were always friendly, helpful, and gracious during our 2-week stay. Just an absolutely delightful and perfect stay at this enchanting home - highly recommended!
We loved our time at this property. Rick is a consummate host- every detail covered, every question answered quickly. Between the location, the lovely appointed house and and the ease of having everything provided (and then some), it made our time away one of the most relaxing in a long while. We highly recommend a stay here!
Quiet, majestic, comfortable, spacious home. Kitchen is equipped to the max. The layout is perfect for all family/friends to spread out, enjoy indoor (games, movies, map charts) and outdoor activities (kayaking, swimming, lounging). Rick is a wonderful host, providing lots of information pre-and during the stay. Thank you for the hospitality!
The location is beautiful, the house is amazing - it’s like staying with your wealthy aunt who has provided for everything. We swam a lot, the only problem is getting out of the water over mud and rocks is difficult. Kayaking is great, as is paddle-boarding. Morning, afternoon, and evening sun, sunrises and sunsets from the property. Loved it.
Rick was the consummate host, providing all the information we needed in advance and during the stay, as well as a welcoming bottle of champagne. He went out of the way to accommodate a member of our party with mobility issues. The house was spotless when we arrived, with gardens in full bloom and a perfect Maine waterfront location with Adirondack chairs at the water's edge, a screened porch for the mosquito-shy, and a huge deck with comfortable furniture. The kitchen was the best equipped I've ever seen in a rental, from the Viking range to the Le Creuset pans, and the two dishwashers made cleanup for our party of six very easy. The house itself is lovingly appointed in a maximal style -- many lovely paintings, a telescope, porcelains, objets d'art, collector's pieces and comfortable, attractive furniture abound. We liked seeing the nautical charts of the area in the hall to gain insight to our geographic surroundings and giggle at some of the place names. There was a whole closetful of games and puzzles which were perfect for the screened porch and building on the rare rainy day. There were thoughtfully supplied lap-rugs and throws in every room to help with the variable Maine temperatures, and a working fireplace with plenty of firewood. We explored the neighboring areas and recommend a sail on the Schooner Alert out of Bailey Island and a visit to the Giant's Steps. The only issue we found with the house was the bottom step of the staircase, which is wider than the rest of the steps and tends to catch ankles if one turns sharply down the hall. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we would definitely return!
We abandoned our ambitious plans to explore surrounding areas because nobody wanted to leave the beautiful house and its views. The screened-porch was our favorite gathering place for coffee, informal meals and games. At night we met in the comfortable room with the stunning TV and streamed movies. We hope to return and highly recommend this unique home to others.
