Summary:

The Shideler House

The Space:

This custom-built, three-bedroom Waldport vacation rental is right on gorgeous Alsea Bay, with stunning panoramic views of the bay and ocean! The Shideler House offers fast WiFi for those who need to stay connected while on vacation, and the Pacific Ocean is just a five-minute walk from the house.

Home to a popular crabbing industry, Alsea Bay and Waldport also boasts a sleepy, small-town feel undiscovered by many Oregon Coast travelers. This charming town offers markets and fantastic food options, as well as unique shops to explore. While you're here, you can borrow crabbing and clamming gear and enjoy direct, private access to the bay and beach! Take one of the provided kayaks out onto the bay during calm tides or throw a crab pot in at the Dock of the Bay marina. And don't worry if you get dirty while out having fun - your Waldport getaway has a washer and dryer for doing laundry when you run out of clean clothes. From here, you're only a 15-minute drive away from Newport where you can visit the Oregon Coast Aquarium or see a show at the Newport Performing Arts Center in Nye Beach, before returning home to your delightful Waldport retreat for a moonlight stroll on the uncrowded beach!

Inside your two-story Shideler House getaway, the spacious and wonderfully designed living room is a great place to watch the tides change or the sunset. When the sun goes down, enjoy a show on your favorite streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney, etc) readily available or set up game consoles on the televisions in any of the rooms. There’s a half-bath located near the front door by the hallway.

In case of rainy weather, you'll have plenty of options to keep you occupied. Try the foosball table in the garage, play cards at the game table or pull out one of the many games or puzzles from the shelves. Additionally, you'll have a wood-burning fireplace (bring your own wood) to create the perfect vacation ambiance. For a quiet evening in, you can borrow a book from the vast collection and spend the evening reading, snuggled up by the fire.

The well-equipped kitchen is bright and airy, with a refrigerator, stovetop/oven, dishwasher, coffeemaker and grinder, microwave, air fryer, and everything you'll need for cooking and baking projects. And when you're ready to sit down to a meal, the dining room table seats six guests for dinner with a view.

This main level also contains the spacious, maritime-themed master bedroom, complete with a king bed, private full bathroom, gorgeous water views, and deck access. This outdoor space is a lovely setting for morning coffee, grilling in the late afternoon, or just sitting and gazing out at the water. A lower deck with two adirondack chairs is located down near the grass to get you even closer to the water. Stay warm down there with a jacket or blanket or use the fire pit located there. Don't forget to pick up some marshmallows to roast!

Upstairs, in the two bedrooms, you'll find a king bed in one room and a queen plus a twin bed in the other. Both rooms have large closets and full water views, with TVs in each room. There is also a full bathroom on the upper level that these two rooms share. This Waldport vacation home will sleep up to six guests very comfortably for a wonderful Central Oregon Coast escape!

On evenings that you don't feel like cooking, you can head to Fresh Mexican Restaurant across the street, or head to Azul Mexican Restaurant at the marina or grab a pizza from Grand Central Pizza. You can spend your day beachcombing along the sand or visiting the small handful of shops in town, like the Waldport Flea Market, Well Read Books or Skosh, all of which are walkable right from the house! But really, you might find that one of your favorite activities is lounging on the back deck or enjoying the fire pit patio table on the lower deck and taking in a vibrant, colorful sunset.

This Oregon Coast vacation rental right on Waldport's Alsea Bay is a gorgeous vacation getaway for unwinding, exploring the coast, and just taking it easy. With popular activities like river fishing, hiking, and even boating around the bay, Waldport offers something for everyone.

You can even bring your lovely well-behaved dog with you for a small nightly fee!

The location of this house was unbeatable, with only a rock wall separating the back yard from Alsea Bay. From the back deck or even the living room we could watch seals move in and out of the bay with the tide, the eagles bully the osprey, the ravens chase off the eagles, and the locals clamming during low tide. We only had to drive for 10 minutes to get to Seal Rock, a great place for tide pooling. The house itself was spacious and comfortable. We loved making use of the outdoor equipment and even tried our hand (unsuccessfully) at crabbing. Even though there was a wayside park right next to the house, the park and its patrons never encroached on our privacy.

Great location, especially during the slower winter months. Easy access to the shoreline; seals and other wildlife visible from the house. House was exceptionally clean and well appointed.

We stay here as often as we can. We love the light that fills the rooms, the furnishings, the rooms full of books, the appliances, the care taken by the owners to ensure a relaxing visit. Every time we come there is something new to enjoy. This time included a firepit on the lower deck right on the water. Last time was a terrific air fryer. Every visit is a joy and pleasure. I can't recommend highly enough.

If you like long walks in the beach and watching seals with your morning coffee, this is your vacation rental. A friendly mexican food restaurant is near by and you can even walk to the grocery store if you’re so inclined. House was bright and clean. Lots of options as far as entertainment if the weather is not cooperating.

This visit was another spectacular experience. Each time we come, there is always something new (this time a new air fryer!). The appliances and furniture are kept up to date and replaced regularly. Cleanliness is extremely well done and each time there are new sheets and towels whenever we go so I know they are replaced regularly. This time, due to a water leak on our last night, we got to deal with the owners directly as well as Vacasa and it was all a terrific experience. We already have another visit planned for September! It's our first choice for a stay on the coast. And be sure and check our Fresh Mex just a few steps away for some great Mexican food and margaritas!
