The best place to enjoy fantastic sunsets! My family and I loved this home. So many activities wind surfing, fishing, crabbing, boating, swimming, and great place to see stars.

Island Sun is a beautiful property and is expertly maintained and managed by Vacasa. This is our second time at this property, and we'll definitely book this place again!

Has a great wind-protected storage room good for ~5-6 rigged sails up to 7 meter size and shelves for 8 boards. Larger sails will have to be kept in 'garage' that may get some wind. Our favorite windsurfing destination!

The view was amazing! Best sunset view you can get. We had lots of people coming over into the backyard to take sunset pictures

How was clean and ready by early afternoon. House was in good condition for a rental. Beds were much better than other houses we have used. The ramp into the water and riprap along bulkhead is not friendly to get windsurfing equipment in and out of water in high onshore winds.

The house was dated but the breathtaking views made up for it. Minor repairs are needed…dishwasher did not work properly, ice maker did not work. The unit was not clean upon arrival. We were pleasantly surprised with the offer of a free early check in. All contact information left inside the home was for Hatteras Realty who apparently does not exist anymore and the numbers are disconnected, so had we need to reach someone to come for a major repair we would have been stuck. The breathtaking views and sunsets made up for the few complaints inside the home. Beautiful wrap around deck with hot tub overlooking the sound. Door code did not work at check in, but we used an unlocked back door our entire stay. Would definitely stay in this area again.

The house and site are lovely. But there were areas for improvement. The home was not cleaned when we arrived at 8:00 PM and the old sheets were still in a pile in the driveway the next day. The home needs some attention to detail, Not enough silverware, or regular size glasses. (about 20 wine glasses though), There needs to be an update with regard to dishes. Too many non matching patterns and too few of specific kinds. The dishwasher would clean, but not dry. The element must be burned out. This means your dishes come out cold and wet, but there's no dish towels to dry them. Several fixtures had burned out bulbs. Also, there needs to be more deck chairs on the top deck. There are only two Adirondack style and they are connected to each other. These two chairs and a picnic table, which is very heavy, are all that is on the top deck. Much of this, save the dishwasher and the deck chairs, could be corrected for less than $100.00. It may seem like little things, but for the Thousands of dollars spent, the owners need to keep up with the little things to rate a 5 Star experience. It was enough that I will look for another experience next year.

Had to wait until 6 to get into the property for what? Beds not made, house not very clean, had to go find our towels and the gall to put a tip envelope out. Not to mention the provided sheets were stained, comforters smelled bad and pillowcases did not fit the provided pillows. House needs some updating too. Carpeting is worn and stained, marginally equipped kitchen, tubs don’t drain and water pressure is awful. Now the nice part-the views are incredible and great location to launch your all of your water toys.

Went there for a windsurfing/Kiteboarding trip. The access to the water is amazing. The water is shallow about 3 feet so great for learning for the kids. Could've been a bit windier. The place is not magnificent but its location is perfect. So I give it five stars. It just amazes me that these houses can exist here and don't get what the way by the hurricane. Inside was clean. Had everything we needed. We rented this house and the one next-door which was great for two families as well as my parents. The toaster was broken but they quickly replaced it including replacing grill items. Be sure to bring beach towels. A few more towels for the bathrooms would've been appreciated and I'm sure they would have delivered them if we asked. Really nothing negative to say. Some people may not think these houses are in tiptop shape but I'm just amazed that they still exist in this beautiful coastline.
