Experience life in a lakeside cabin featured on HGTV’s “Log Cabin Living”. Vacation on a pristine lake; swim or kayak from your dock; roast marshmallows at the fire pit; enjoy the sounds of the loons. This beautiful 3 bedroom lakefront home is both rustic and modern: a true log cabin, yet decorated with an eye toward mid-century modern. It has a long wraparound deck to enjoy sunsets with a glass of wine, and “crazy comfortable” beds (according to a guest). Only 90 minutes from Boston, but you are tucked away in the pines on a protected cove on beautiful Lake Contoocook.
The cabin sleeps 8 comfortably: two bedrooms have queen beds, and a bunk room has 4 single beds. Enjoy the large, open living room, screened in dining porch, outside deck, and stocked eat-in kitchen. A long deck runs the length of the house overlooking the lake, and there is a lower “cocktail” area on the deck close to the water.
The rental includes everything needed to make your stay comfortable and easy: high-speed wireless internet, (no TV), fresh sheets and bath towels, beach towels, silverware and glassware, cooking implements and serving pieces, a gas grill, and washer and dryer. There is also a fire pit, cord wood, grill, and a dock. Parking for up to five cars.
The lake is steps from the house. Walk down the stairs to your wooden dock and swim to a sandy beach area across the cove. Use the kayak, life jackets, and a paddle and either stay in the cove or head out to explore the 344-acre main lake. The area has lots of hiking, bike trails, and all types of dining options in the quintessential beautiful New England town of Peterborough, a 15-20 minute drive away. You are also a short 14 minute drive to the trails of Mt. Monadnock.
Spring/Summer/Fall: crystal clear lake swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing.
Winter: Cross country skiing, snowmobiling and downhill skiing all located locally.

We were here for a wedding and had a lovely time staying. Communication was great and the space was perfect for 4 adults and 2 kids. Would come back here!
We were in the area for a family wedding. The cabin, location, lake activities, restaurant and hiking suggestions were wonderful as well as the communication with the host. I wish we had been able to stay longer and hope we can return soon!
Absolutely loved this property! A true log cabin with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay-great open flow layout to living areas and outdoors! Wish we could’ve stayed longer! Thank you Alfred & Hillary helping to make a memorable time for all!
We enjoyed a small friend reunion and found this spot a perfect, peaceful place. Alfred was very responsive and friendly. We highly recommend!
Love this home - we always have a fantastic time and this year we had another couple join us for a couple of days and they fell in love with it as well. Our go to for NH Vacations!
Our stay at this beautiful lake house was like a picture right out of a story book. Thank you Alfred and family for sharing your cabin for us to enjoy. The property manager responded quickly to any of our questions. It was a really great week. Hopefully someday we will be able to return. Thank you, from Mike and family.
Lovely log cabin. Spacious, clean, great views, very comfortable beds?. Highly recommend.
We stayed at this amazing log cabin on a lake for 2 weeks. We're a mom, dad, and 6-year-old daughter. We all loved it! The house is large, open, and spacious, full of big windows with views of the forest and the lake. It's very clean and comfy. the beds were EXTRA comfy. We used the fireplace at night. We sat on the dock all the time and watched the water. We used the kayaks and paddleboards. We explored the islands on the lake and swam at those--they are like little sandbars in the middle of the lake. Around the dock at the house, the kids would swim, but it does have plant life and squishy stuff on the bottom. I enjoyed swimming at the islands, which have regular sandy bottom. We did some fishing and some grilling. We saw a big turtle (and fed him bread, which he loved), a frog, deer, and tons of birds. The house has a library of fabulous books. The screened-in porch was my favorite place. I loved it all and can't wait to go back some time!
This a perfect place to spend a few days -- the house is exactly the way it is described, and the lake is quiet and lovely. We had a great time kayaking, paddle boarding and just hanging out!
This place is a hidden gem. We were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful location, the cozy feel of the spacious log cabin, the impeccable cleanliness and a no hassle stay. Highly recommend!
