We had an amazing stay. House was immaculate and I am very particular about cleanliness. I usually put a towel on top of the pillow before I put my head down (yes I know totally crazy), but did not need to do that here. The back deck is phenomenal. The proximity to Herring Brook pond made it possible for me to rent a paddle board for our stay and carry it to the beach every day. The pond is pure heaven.
This house was great for our annual Cape trip. My husband and I, my son, his wife and our two young grandsons had a wonderful week. The little boys loved running in the yard, we all enjoyed the open concept kitchen, dining and living space as well as the large deck. The quick walk to the pond and easy driving to multiple beaches made this a great location as well.
The agency was not familiar with the rental. There was a broken table umbrella on the deck, and the deck had splintered wood and raised board causing a tripping hazard. I asked about beach equipment at the house...they did not know and stated they could not guarantee availability. I asked about a coffee maker so I could grocery shop early and I was told there was only a drip pot, when in fact there was also a Keurig. The house was beat up: screens pushed out of the sliding doors, kitchen cabinets peeling, teflon pans in terrible condition, noisy window AC unit in the bedroom with gaps around it in the window, and carpet, furniture, and bedding was dingy and dated and stained. Access to the recreational room and the garage is from the outside only...you cannot access from the main house. There is only 1 small bathroom for all of the beds (including the two beds in the finished basement with no privacy). This particular bathroom has a water pressure issue and when the shower is on there is a high pitched whine in the pipes, and you have to hold the toilet handle down for an extended period of time to get a proper flush. The other bathroom is off of the kitchen on the highest floor. There were a fair number of bugs throughout the house. I live in Florida ( the US bug state!) and I don't have the problem this house did. You would think they would inspect the property between rentals, and they do not. To their credit, after I asked numerous times, they brought me some beach chairs and a new umbrella. I did not care for the fact that only bed sheets were washed, not the mattress pads. And given the current situation with Covid, pillows should have washed pillow covers in addition to washed pillow cases. The nearby pond is not easy to get to. You have to cross and walk along a busy highway with no shoulder and blind curves. I do not recommend it for children. Otherwise the location is good for getting around, and delivery of groceries and take-out was convenient. All-in-all, I would not stay here again.
There were so many great things about this property! THE COMPANY/OWNER: was extremely responsive to emails, and went above and beyond to help my mother in law (who traveled with me) with an issue. They also were extremely generous with the pet fee, and granted us a late checkout. THE LOCATION: my family and I remarked several times on how perfect a location this was. It’s a one minute walk to a beautiful small pond and my 3 year old loved swimming there. It’s also about a 3 minute drive to First Encounter beach which was great to watch the sunset! Highly recommend checking it out there! It’s also a 5-10 minute drive to several other beaches, shops, ice cream places and restaurants! THE HOUSE: perfect for a large group! The “upside down” floor plan was very convenient and all bedrooms were generously sized with big closets. The upstairs living area was so open and allowed everyone to socialize together. Lots of places to sit and hang out. We all loved the massive amount of deck space and spent a lot of time out there. The outdoor shower was spacious and was such a treat. It’s well equipped with linens and towels included, as well as a fully stocked kitchen with plenty of plates, glassware, silverware and everything else we needed (ex: toaster, coffee maker, cutting boards etc). Overall, we had a wonderful time and this was the perfect place for us! Since I was the one who “found it” online and booked, my family kept thanking me for finding such a great place! We have already discussed hopefully renting this property again next year!
Nice house in a good location. I didn't like having to go up steep stairs to the second floor living area and having the bedrooms on the first floor.
My family and I had a great week at this house! It was perfect for hanging out together on the spacious deck and around the table for dinners. We loved walking to the beach, taking short trips to Wellfleet and Orleans, and using the bike path! Even a bit of rain didn't keep us from enjoying the area. Would definitely recommend this house and hope to return again!!
We loved the house and property. We would definitely illy stay again. It was clean, great set up for family and friends with kids. The decks were amazing. The proximity to the pond and beach ans walking trails was perfect!
Wonderful cozy home. Perfect in every way. You wont be disappointed.
Magical spot so close to the pond and first encounter beach. We will be back.
This was a perfect spot for us, a walk across the street from the pond, a short jaunt to bike path, a short ride to first encounter beach and easy access to the grocery store. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about vacationing during COVID 19 but it went smoothly. The house was clean plus I did another once over when I arrived since my mother was with us. The restaurants were easy to manage with pick up curbside or outside al fresco dining. At the beach, people kept their distance and used masks to move around. Even the drive-in has managed to accommodate for COVID. So felt as safe as being in my own home. The house was well appointed for us. We liked the upside down set up with bedrooms on the first floor and the kitchen/living room on the second floor. The first floor den off the entrance was a great spot to sit and there was a piano too. Also, there was a game room above the garage, which I didn’t realize from the write up, which was a fun spot for the kids to hang out. My only suggestion was that, as a family who likes to cook, while the kitchen was well appointed with all the tools we would need, the pots and pans have been overused by renters (maybe put through the dishwasher). Might be time for a refresh on that. It was peaceful and relaxing and quiet. It was well equipped with huge TV for movies and relaxing. The outside shower was fabulous and the multiple decks were great hang out spots. We would return for a future peaceful vacation.
