Edgartown, Massachusetts
This exceptional property is situated in a small, exclusive community, on 3/4 acre of professionally manicured lawns and gardens. Less than a mile walk to the center of Historic Edgartown by way of beautiful South Water Street and 1-1/2 miles at the end of the road to South Beach on bike path.
This home has been lovingly appointed with all things beautiful; creating a feeling of warmth and comfort. The owner has been involved in the world of Art for more than 25 years, choosing for her home only the most special finery to embellish this luxurious property. It is equipped with every amenity, beautiful artwork and has central air throughout. Three spacious levels of comfortable living areas afford privacy, spread through out the home and gardens.
This house has 5 bedrooms, each lovingly decorated. Three of the bedrooms sit a top the balconied living room. This large, open floor-plan living room boasts a massive barn-stone fireplace and cathedraled-ceiling overlooking exquisite gardens. Two additional bedrooms are located off very large family room that spills out through French doors to a cobblestone terrace. This terrace is home to a wood fireplace and a classic new england outdoor hot water shower - all overlooking spacious, open fields. The dining room and all stainless kitchen look out through French doors to a large deck equipped with a stainless Weber grill, dining table and cushioned lounge chaises.
A perfect vacation home, in a safe, beautiful place for children to play and adults to relax. Sit on the deck; sun on the terrace, or relax in a hammock and read a book while the kids play in the yard - or the teens walk into town. What better way to spend your vacation
In addition there is an outdoor fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs. Great place for chilly fall get togethers.
The location and outdoor spaces amazing. Owner very responsive and helpful. would recommend staying here.
This lovely and tastefully turned-out home is set on a a large piece of land in easy reach of Edgartown. The grounds and flora are tended to perfection and present a very pleasing backdrop to a coffee on one of the ample patios. We very much enjoyed our stay here and Carlin was a joy to deal with.
Wonderful experience on a park like setting in Katama
This was one of the best vacations of my life. The house is beautiful, the grounds are beautiful, the location is excellent. We had so many plans for this trip, but wound up spending so much of our time just at the house or in the gardens because it was so beautiful. The house is close to Morning Glory Farms where we went every day to get fresh fruit and vegetables, home-baked breads and cheese from local farms. I will never rent anywhere else on Martha's Vineyard because nothing could be more perfect than this.
Amazing
Having rented this spot the previous year, we knew how wonderful it is, and we were not disappointed the second time around! With three generations under the same roof it is great to have a place that offers something for all ages. The kids love the freedom of riding bikes to the beach and having the house's lower level all to themselves. The parents enjoy the hot tub, cocktails on the porch, and walks to nearby Edgartown. And the older set loves just hanging at the house, so quiet and peaceful, with cozy furnishings inside and beautiful, lush gardens throughout the property. Carlin is a wonderful hostess. She takes pride in her abode and it shows. She also wants you to enjoy yourself, which is easy to do at this treasure of a property. We'll be back!
Our family of 5 joined a family of 4 to rent this beautiful, well equipped home for a week. We had 5 kids ranging in age from 16-3 yrs old & the house accommodated us easily. All the bedrooms were private and all the beds were comfortable. The bathrooms are well appointed & the outdoor shower is awesome. The kids loved the hot tube & hogged it away from the parents. Though the kitchen was a little small with limited work space, it was adequate with plenty of pots, pans, bowls & utensils, plus we used the grill extensively which worked out great. The grounds are beautifully maintained with plenty of room running around, catches & other outdoor games. The deck off the kitchen was our goto for meals & entertaining. The location is secluded and private, yet very close to Edgartown, Morning Glory Farm, South Beach and West Tisbury Rd. Thank you Carlin for offering your home. You are a model hostess with class and taste, and your house is lovely and welcoming. We had a fantastic time!
Three days and two nights of almost constant rain...wind-whipped by Hurricane Joaquin...AND YET we had a fantastic time! This pet friendly house is beautifully decorated/appointed and very well equipped with many comfortable places for us and our four guests to gather and relax, both indoors and out. The grounds, backyard hot tub and outdoor fireplace were (weather permitting) highlights of the outdoor experience. The dining room table was the epicenter of some hotly contested board games. The family photos and memorabilia created a warm and hospitable environment. The house is located on a quiet street and is within easy walking distance of charming Edgartown. Carlin, the owner, was extremely helpful, engaged and interesting - she even had the freezer stocked with delicious muffins upon our arrival! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this beautiful home.
We felt fortunate to find this property and thoroughly enjoyed it. The grounds are beautiful, with flowering vegetation surrounding the house, wind chimes singing in a light breeze, and views of a far off pasture from the deck off the kitchen. There is also a wonderful outdoor shower, and a hot tub around the back of the property. Inside the house, the owner, Carlin--who was a delight to work with--has created a sumptuous environment, with plush fabrics on cozy couches and dozens of interesting paintings and prints hanging on the walls. The house is conveniently located between Edgartown, where we walked to many times, and South Beach, where the kids biked almost daily. We also walked, biked or drove to nearby Morning Glory Farm. Three generations of us were in the house, and each of us loved it in his/her own way. A wonderful spot to kick back, relax, enjoy each other and Martha's Vineyard!
We just returned from a heavenly stay at this lovely property. So relaxing - vintage Vineyard in all the best ways. Carlin, the owner, is a delight to work with, her property gracious and comfortable, and the setting ideal (just a short walk or bike ride to town or to South Beach and to nearby Morning Glory Farm and the fantastic Edgartown Meat and Fish Market). As lovely as the interior is, I especially enjoyed the outside. The landscaping and flowers are just beautiful - and there is nearly always a great north-south breeze blowing - making it a perfect place to flop down on the comfortable hammock and read. Our only small change might be to find a way to jack up the air conditioning, but we are folks who really like cold, perhaps more than most :-). Highly recommend.
