The house is amazing, and it is very well equipped. Dario’s team, Anaritta and Rocco, were very lovely and helpful. Overall, great summer vacation’s house.
My family, which consists of my husband and 3 children aged between 7 and 12, and I were meeting my parents and siblings with their spouses in these refurbished 3 connected flats. The house is in the centre of this small town, it has on-street parking, it can get busy at times but it has never been an issue. Once you step through the big gate, you enter a sheltered area. There are 3 entrances to the house. One goes to the upstairs flat, and 2 to the main flat downstairs. The other flat's entrance is from the courtyard. All 3 flats are connected through a secure courtyard. We had most of our meals in the courtyard. 2 flats are totally independent and have their own kitchen. The access to the swimming pool is through the 3rd flat. Family with young children would need to be extra careful, the pool is about 1.5metres all the way. Our 7 year old was out of his depths but he is a good swimmer. The house was very well provided with lots of utensils, dishes, glasses and pans/saucepans. It even had washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, many dishclothes, washing up powder. The only thing missing was a microwave. There is one small TV in the main flat downstairs, however we never used it. The cleaning ladies came twice a week and were accommodating. The maintenance of the pool occurred daily but it never impacted us. We were very well looked after by the people who managed the administration of the house. They were really friendly and helpful. We were very happy there and definitely consider going back. It is well located to many beautiful beaches. It is close to supermarkets, pharmacies, pizzerias and a bar,
AMAZING HOUSE with lots of character ! Uccio was very friendly and available with us
We spent 3 weeks in this beautiful house and we loved every minute of it! We are a family of 4 travelling with kids 2-5 years and have rented houses in all over Europe. The house does not match the pictures on Homeaway – it’s much more beautiful and the decoration is both personal and charming mixing authentic Italian with modern touches. The best thing about the house, except for the location right by the village church, is the 4 different outdoor spaces; two rooftops, an inner courtyard and the lovely garden and a good-sized pool. Even though the house could be used as two different apartments the house is planned as one having the best planned kitchen with all the kitchen equipment you are used to at home downstairs as well as the diningroom. The downstairs bedrooms are located with the inner courtyard in between them which is great for friends sharing the downstairs or families with older children but is less suitable for families with young kids. It’s also good to know that the room with the sofabed is a room you need to walk through to get to the other bedroom or the pool. We slept upstairs in the bedroom with the churchview and our kids shared the bunkbed room. The churchview room has quite a hard bed but the dressing room and good size makes up for it. The bunkbed room and the room with the singlebed and the room with the sofabed are not equipped with AC but they have AC in the rooms just outside so if you have the doors open it will work out well. We were not bothered by the heat indoors even though we had 37 degrees outside some days. Irene and Dario are great hosts. We never met them in person but talked to them on the phone and they always responded quickly to our needs and made sure we had the best stay in their house. Uccio and Lucia helped out with keys and cleaning and were also so very nice to us and our family. Spongano is a quiet little village but full of activities and festivals and events. We tried the local restaurant Piccaló which was nice and also walked to the Rizzello vineyard. The location in between the both coasts are great. We mostly visited the beaches with sand on the eastcoast during daytime but the beautiful coast between Otranto and Leuca is more authentic. Unfortunately a lot of the olive trees are infected so the region must have been a lot more beautiful before. We would also recommend visits to Otranto, Leuca, Gallipoli and Lecce which are all within easy reach. All in all we had a great stay and loved t
