Andrew Jackson Downing, a Newburgh native, was a famous landscape architect in the 18th century behind the planning of Central Park. 60-minute drive from NYC. Newburgh was featured in the New York Times in 12/20 as the largest historic district outside of NYC. You will see one-of-a kind free-standing houses influenced by him in this historic district of Newburgh.

This well-cared-for 1920's home is located on one of the most coveted streets mentioned in the NYT article, and a visual delight with original arts and crafts detail such as gorgeous wood staircase, bordered wood floors, crown moldings, a decorative fireplace and original doors. In addition to its visual beauty, this home makes great use of interior space with wonderful entertaining spaces on the 1st level with the living room, dining room, and the kitchen, a bathroom on each of the 3 floors (the bathroom on the 2nd floor has a claw foot tub), 3 bedrooms on the 2nd floor, and top floor master suite with a half bath. All three queen-sized bedrooms come with a desk. You can see all the way to Beacon from the top floor master suite! The large backyard has a nice patio equipped with a Weber grill for entertaining. You can work on the porch looking at the river (there is a socket on the porch). Other conveniences include a washer and a dryer in the basement, and a driveway that could fit 3 cars. The house is walkable to the well-known Newburgh waterfront restaurant area ranging from the high-end Blu Pointe to Pizza Shop and Hudson Taco with incredible views. Pizza Shop and Hudson Taco (0.6 miles away) offer delivery service and curbside pickup, and Amazon packages get delivered with no issues. ShopRite (grocery), Target, CVS Pharmacy and Rite Aid Pharmacy typically deliver within a few hours on the same day via Instacart. Mid Valley Wine & Liquor (1.2 miles away) offers curbside pickup. There are wineries, farms, hiking trails, museums, and drive-in movie theaters near the house. Due to the covid, we’re taking extra steps to clean and sanitize frequently touched surfaces between reservations.

House was not rental ready. grass overgrown, bushes need trimming, spiders infested the bedrooms and living room, no fencing in yard for pets, house had a musty smell, floors creaked horribly black mold on blinds, upstairs bedroom door would lock shut if closed all the way, furniture was in poor quality, washing machine didn't work, many windows were missing curtains and neighbors could see in the bedrooms. The house was misrepresented by the picture. would not recommend this home.

The house was a good fit for our family — all adults who want their own rooms. The property is well outfitted with linens, kitchen appliances and dishes etc. The neighborhood is very nice and safe and with close driving access to Beacon, Fishkill, and many other towns and park areas. We enjoyed our stay, and Sunny is a responsive owner.

The property was extremely clean and functional for our stay with 7 people. Nice quiet older historic neighborhood. This area is a good choice if you only want to spend a couple of days in NY City. It is about 1 1/2 hrs into the city.

Our host was great to work with. She took care to ensure our elderly Mom could manage the stairs before booking, and checked in on us once we were settled. The house was roomy and comfy. We had to purchase a few amenities such as washcloths and a shower mat that were not in the house, but we didn't mind. We appreciated the clear house instructions. Kudos to housekeeping - the house was spotless!!

We stayed in the house a full month. The host was immediately responsive every time we asked a question or needed something. The house was old but upgraded with a lot of the original character preserved. One of the most striking things about the property was the street it was on. It was lined with old mansions. There is indeed a fantastic river view from the large front porch. We spent many hours there listening to the birds and looking across the river to Beacon. We got to meet several neighbors and everyone was very friendly. I would definitely stay there again.

Enjoyed the Holiday Week with my family! The home is exactly as shown with all the amenities you need. Across the Hudson River from home is a quaint little town called Beacon. Spent a day shopping and dining there, well worth the visit. Train station there will take you right into Manhattan to see New York during the Holidays! Homeowner Sunny was a perfect Hostess making this trip an A! Highly recommend staying here. We hope to do the trip again!

The house is old and definitely funky. It worked well for our group of 7 with 3 kids and 2 couples. Property owner has great communication and everything was as advertised. This is an old house though and you need to be comfortable with creeks and groans as people move around at night and a couple weird things (the nice bathroom with shower is off the kitchen). The neighborhood is quite run down but really interesting for all of that. The livingroom has a really lovely view of the Hudson that was unexpected.

Great property, with all the amenities. Not close enough to walk to any groceries, but quiet street with homes that must've been something a 100 years ago. Neighborhood is slightly dilapidated. The house is comfortable though and has a great front porch and view of the river.

The property was very quaint and historic which we enjoyed. Communication with Sunny was excellent. The property was clean and very easy to find things. For an older house everything was in very good working order.

We stayed here for Ring Weekend. The house is about 25 minutes from West Point. The house had everything we needed to accommodate our family, plenty of bedrooms and areas to sit and relax. We liked the off street parking. Communication with the host was great!

We were attending a family event nearby and found this house exactly suited our needs. The house is an older house that has been updated/renovated. Very clean and comfortable. We especially liked the front porch as the weather was perfect for sitting out there in the evening and watching the world go by. We found some excellent pizza and a wonderful deli nearby. We would definitely stay there again.

Not happy at all. First impressions are everything. If you have a booking as a host the least you can do is make sure your rental is properly cleaned ready for renters. They only cut the grass. This house is unkept, filthy dirty, dusty and bug infested. No privacy curtains to sheild from surrounding neighbors. This large house only have 1 tv. The refrigerator is dirty and wasn't cooling and it leaks. The holes in the floor had bugs coming thru as well as the smell from the basement. Unless you don't mind getting bit up by the insects. The basement where the laundry room was advertised, looks like a dark wet damp and smelly dungeon filled with spiders and spiderwebs and other insects. The backyard & the front porch was not inviting at all it was filled with overgrown weeds and debris and bugs. The front porch furniture was dusty and dirty. Inside the home all of the furniture is old weak and wobbly, all windows throughout are old weak unsecured and not sealed properly. Bugs were getting in through crevasses around all the windows in the house we had to stuff them with towels or tape. The grilling area was a unbelievable. Not even accessible unless you dont mind cooking underneath a covered weed & vine bush filled with insects. The table next to grill was dusty dirty. With weed vines growing up the door entry. The house just looks like no one has been there in years. No attention was giving to this property. My payment should have never been take
