160 Acre Beautiful farm you would have all to yourselves with stunning views of Sweet Briar & Heart River valleys. Very private, serene setting yet only 15-20 minutes from Bismarck/Mandan shopping & restaurants. Two large sheds can be rented for Weddings or Reunions; huge farmyard good for big tents, too. We will allow up to 2 RVs on the farm with electricity & water available, (dump station 6 miles away). Several amazing primitive camping locations on the farm. Land surrounding the farm includes wooded ravines, glacial boulders, & bold vistas. Hike or bike for miles on lightly traveled country roads. Hunting on land a Fall option, contact owner for details. Comfortable & cozy 3 bedroom, 1 bath farmhouse with huge kitchen. Large living room with lovely views of rolling hills & pasture, cattle & frequent wildlife.
Family room in basement- great for kids play area. Converting a century old wood workshop into a kids bunkroom and clubhouse, just steps from main house.
This is our second year staying at the property for a week in the summer. Really great place and great communication from the owners. Highly recommend!
The property was exactly what we where looking for to stay for this vacation. It was almost perfectly centered in the state, with an average of 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive time almost every corner. We wanted to see Fargo, Devils Lake, Roosevelt State Park, Little Missouri GrassLand, Lake Sakakawea, Slanted Indian Village, Knife Indian Village ( Sacajawea’s Village), Abraham Lincoln Fort, a few Scandinavian Heritage Stave Churches with a big ass Dala House, the Badlands of North Dakota, Cross Ranch State Park, Enchanted Highway and Painted Canyon. Most Importantly the got to pet the Worlds Largest Bison Beard at Louis L’Amour Lane. It was a lot of driving but we where almost able to see everything in the.
Very quiet, peaceful stay during an emotional time. We very much enjoyed Merlin the therapy cat. The cows in surrounding pasture provided daily entertainment until they were moved away from the house. Would definitely stay there again.
Based on the listing photos, Mary and I had high expectations of Sweet Briar Farm. They were exceeded in every possible way. From first sight thru first night on that huge deck, we were hooked. How did we love thee, Sweet Briar Farm? Let us count the ways. Solitude, the quiet, the bird song and bird flight, the three hundred and thirty degree view from the deck, the ravines and distant buttes, and the endlessly changing, beautiful, big and cloud streaming sky, the comfy bed and wonderful bedding, that happy view from the living room that looks south and west, the fully functional kitchen, and finally, Merlin, feline greeter extraordinaire and delightful companion. We don't know how they did it, but our hosts, Mark and Ann, arranged for a Dickcissel, a bird we'd never seen, to appear in the branches of the dead tree right off the deck on our first night. Then, at sunrise the next morning, they had a coyote sit on a little hillock not a hundred yards away. He threw back his head and yip, yip, yipped for us. Everyday, almost every hour, brought new delights. As long time birdwatchers and dues paying members of the Cloud Appreciation Society, we were pretty near ecstatic the entire stay. Because of earlier visitor comments about the lack of air-conditioning, we wanted to mention that we had no issues like that at all. The bedroom a/c worked well enough for us. If we had any complaint at all, it would be that we found the lighting pretty dim for reading on those nights that rain forced us indoors. Oh, that was another nice surprise. You needn't bother bringing books because the hosts have a large and eclectic library spread throughout the house. The dvd/vhs player wasn't working, but they had many streaming services, and, anyway, if you're going to sit inside and watch tv, you don't deserve this place. Thank you, Ann and Mark for being super hosts.
Such a great house if you want to decompress off the grid. The scenery is perfect North Dakota hills and the two cats are great, they are easily dismissed w the water bottle if you have allergies. The house is vintage Americana, the heart and soul of our nation once raised their kids in places like this. Kitchen and wash stuff all worked well. Great communication and no hassles!
We enjoyed the property. Great communication by the host. Easy to find location and great to have space away from other people. Well maintained property and clean.
We so enjoyed staying at this amazing property and cute house! We had fine bedrooms and a good sleeping couch for our group of five. The kitchen, dining room and living rooms are great, especially the view out the living room! Everything was in good working order, including washer and dryer. Mark and Ann were so welcoming, responsive and helpful. The sweet barn cat was so friendly, and even joined us for walks out onto the bluffs. It is about a 40 minute drive to the Bismarck airport and University of Mary. The expansiveness, quiet, wild deer and birds, and the spectacular sunrises and sunsets made this a perfect place to unwind between graduation festivities. I highly recommend staying here if you are in the area, the prairie experience was priceless!
Just enjoyed our second stay at Mark and Ann’s. Great home in a beautiful area just outside of Mandan, close to the city and close to our hunting grounds. Couldn’t ask for anything better. The guys and I were so happy we found this place. Can’t wait till next season! Thanks Mark and Ann!
Could have been a great place except for description. There was no heating or air conditioning as had been promised in the VRBO listing. Would not have booked it if we knew. Also, 3 annoying barn cats were troublesome. Made sitting outside virtually impossible.
This home is comfortable and convenient. It is a nice place to stay with family.
