Stayed Dec 27, 2018We loved our stay at this house. It was remote and private, yet close to Sugar Mountain ski resort, grocery stores and restaurants. Very well-stocked with everything we needed, super comfortable beds, and an overall homey feel. We enjoyed relaxing by the fireplace, overlooking Grandfather Mountain. The owner is very responsive and great to work with. I highly recommend.

Stayed Feb 6, 2026Kathy has ensured you have a home away from home with this place. The house is so beautiful with lots of thoughtful touches. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and location. We were lucky enough to have a winter wonderland and were very grateful for the shuttle to the lifts! Kathy was so communicative and helpful and we can’t wait to come back! Thank you for a great vacation.

Stayed Jan 22, 2026The house is beautiful, the pictures don’t do it justice! The host is super quick to respond and helpful with any questions we had. We had a winter storm coming in and the host made sure we were safe and gave us a refund because we had to leave a day early to not get caught by storm which other host would not do. I will definitely be coming back and telling my family/friends to stay here.

Stayed Nov 7, 2025The house was equipped with everything a person could possibly need. Communications with the host made us feel welcome and answered any question a guest might have. Of course the best part was enjoying watching the changes in Grandfather’s profile at the different stages from sunrise till dark. Incredible view. Our grandkids enjoyed a s’mores evening at the fire pit. My husband, who designed and built this house 23 years ago, enjoyed just resting in appreciation of his handiwork! It was a trip down memory lane for us. We will be back, God willing.

Stayed Oct 9, 2025House has everything and more! Better equipped than any VRBO we’ve ever been to, particularly the kitchen. Views are spectacular and beds were all very comfortable. Easy access to downtown, Grandfather mountain, etc.

The views are spectacular and the back yard with a pond and waterfall is very relaxing. We will definitely stay here again if we return to the Grandfather Mountain area for vacation.

Stayed Feb 9, 2024Our family loved this cabin! You will not be able to find a cabin with a better view! It is drop dead GORGEOUS!! The back yard is just the best, although we didn’t get to use it because of the weather while we were there. There is a really cool fire pit next to a pond with a waterfall. A large hot tub sits under a covered back deck overlooking the huge backyard, and it feels very private and secluded there, even though the cabin is in a neighborhood. We loved the way the cabin was decorated, and the bedrooms were very nice and comfy, especially the two king rooms on the middle floor. Communication with the host was excellent as well. VERY near the ski slope. A couple of things you should know beforehand, that you won’t find out until you are sent the paperwork right before your stay though: (1) there is no air conditioning. This was not a big deal at all for us because we stayed in February, and might not be a big deal at all in the summer because of how high up the cabin is. There are lots of ceiling fans and shades that can come down on the big windows in the main living area, but just thought someone might want to know this ahead of time if booking in the summer. (2) the trash ordinances and pick up times in this area, due to bears I guess, make it necessary to bring your trash down the road, instead of just putting it in a trash can on the property. That could be inconvenient if you have a big group and are staying more than just a couple of days.

Stayed Feb 1, 2024We have been visiting the mountains every year for about 25 years and this has been one of the best visits yet! This home has everything a guest would need plus a whole lot more! The kitchen was well stocked as was the other rooms in the house - linens, paper products, etc. The views are absolutely spectacular with a very clear view of Grandfather Mountain. The pond, patio, and firepit are so beautiful and well thought out and landscaped. The drive up was super easy as the roads are paved and very mild, especially in comparison to other roads in the area. Entry into the home has a ramp and there is a bedroom on the main level with the floors being a hard surface. This would be a great cabin for a guest with mobility challenges. We can't wait to come back! We love this cabin!
