Upon arrival last Friday afternoon, there was a trash can overflowing in the middle of the driveway. I reached out to the owner and was told to push it to the street where it sat for the next 4 days. The floors, living room furniture, throw rugs in bathrooms and living room, and quilts were all covered in dog hair. When we discovered the dog hair all over everything, I reached out to the owner and all I received for a response was “I will let my housekeeper know” and no apology. We had to run purchase cleaning products and laundry detergent so that we could wash all of the quilts and the bathroom rugs. We swept up piles of dog hair, used a lint roller on the furniture to remove the dog hair and washed and dried all 6 quilts, before we could get in the bed that evening. There was also a broken Adirondack chair on the back porch that was all splintered up and jagged. We couldn’t even let the kids play on the porch for fear they might fall on it and get hurt. We love Snead’s Ferry and have stayed at several other homes in the area but we have never had a negative experience until now. When we booked the stay we were concerned at the lack of reviews but after a quick google search we realized the owner was a local mayor and real estate agent so we thought it would be a safe choice. However we were mistaken. On a positive note, the kitchen was well equipped and the location was great.
We had a blast. The owners are very responsive and great people. We had a 5 year old who hunted for crabs and fished the whole time. Other friends and family came enjoyed boating, kayaks and SUP boards. Neighbors helped us with channels to get out on low tides. There is no channel that goes toward the bridge. Fyi You have to go away from bridge close to the other docks and hug white pvc pipes going out. We caught several fish and had big fish fry Friday night. My grandchild said she wanted to get this house every year for her birthday.
Great sunsets at the dock! Spacious bedrooms and comfy beds. Well stocked kitchen.
House is updated nicely, there are some areas of wear, like in the accessible bathroom, there is a plaster crack, and the a/c register is very rusted. There was plenty of room for our family of 7. We made the manager aware of the recliner being broke, and then were charged for it. We did not break it, but the person who broke it hid it by shoving it in a corner, so it went unnoticed. Thats our only complaint.
We had a great stay! House was updated and clean. The linen and towel service was great addition. Nice location on water we were able to leave boat in the water.
Great location and quiet neighborhood.
The property was beautiful, such a wonderful view. The property was clean and the host was very communative. Short drive to the beach and located away from the busy areas of town. The neighborhood was quiet aside from base activity. I stayed here with my young children who enjoyed the large yard and access to the dock. The porch out back is perfect for watching sunsets and sunrises over the water. Excellent experience!
Our stay was absolutely perfect! (Even with 3 days of rain.) The house was easy to find and was perfect for our family of 6. We will definitely keep this property in mind for our next visit.
