Anchor Point, Alaska
The Wise Old Hunter Lodge is a fully-equipped log vacation home with 8 beds and 1-1/2 baths. There is one queen bed, 6 twin beds and a trundle bed. Couples will enjoy this awesome log building and it is a favorite for larger families and parties of fisherman. The first floor has a full kitchen, dining area, family room with HD flat screen satellite TV, computer desk with Wi-Fi, full bath with shower/tub, laundry room with large capacity washer and dryer, and a small bedroom with two twin beds. The front entry room doubles as a bedroom with a log queen-size bed and a trundle bed. A one-or-a-kind spiral log stair leads to the large loft with four twin beds and a half bath.
There is a large open porch plus a BBQ deck with a big split-log bar on the sunny, south end of the building. The lodge, with 1470 square feet of living area, has lots of Alaskan décor, including big game mounts of caribou, Dahl sheep, moose, lynx, and wolverine.
not many places to stay in the area but we found this very clean and comfortable
John was there to greet us. Beautiful home and close to Homer and great halibut fishing. Only down side was internet was a little hit and Miss but that’s a good thing in anchor point. Highly recommend
Really awesome cabin that provides the full Alaska experience. Easy to find. Very easy check in and check out process. Well maintained property. Good location that is close enough to Homer for charter trips.
This cabin was in a great location for all our day plans in Homer. 4 of us stayed in the cabinet, but we had 4 other friends over in the evenings for dinner. The space was comfortable and the deck was an added entertaining space that we loved.
Overall, very cool place. Simple. Clean. Everything worked. There are always little things with places like these--but its all part of the charm. Only thing that brought down the rating to a 4 star instead of 5 was the water heater/expansion tank (we assume) made a very loud knocking noise about every 5 minutes...24 hours a day. So if you are a light sleeper--you'll hate it. Otherwise, cool place. Alaska is always fun
My family stayed for 5 nights in this beautiful cabin. It was a seemless check in/out process and could not recommend it more! Perfect location as well with great views!
We had a great stay. Very nice Authentic Log Cabin and saw Mother Moose and her calf out back. Highly recommended
This was a great location for everything we wanted to do on the peninsula. We traveled to Homer a few dates and then to Seward. The cabin was rustic and had the feel of “true Alaskan Wilderness”
We loved our stay at Wise Old Hunter Cabin. It is a beautiful log cabin about 20 minutes outside of Homer. Filled with the owners taxidermy which we loved but others might not. Has a great deck with a bar and grill to rest on after a long day. John was great to deal with and helped us book our fishing trip and an ATV tour. Only feedback I would share is that they have a water softening system that goes off whenever any water is used. It is VERY loud to the point that it woke us all up. Outside of that the cabin was really great and I would stay here again.
We enjoyed staying at the cabin. We had everything we needed and the washer and dryer was a lifesaver after being in Alaska so long. We were able to relax, cook and play cards with plenty of comfort to stretch out and enjoy the accommodations.
What sets the the Old Wise Hunter Cabin apart from the ubiquitous cabin rental is the owner and builder's attention to detail. The cabin has an eclectic interior with stuffed animals as well as the stories of their hunt all nicely narrated in the cabin's manual. The cabin is also filled with everything you need for a few days stay, including coffee, teas, snacks, as well as a very nice laundry machine and dryer. We had 8 people stay there and we really loved the experience.
