Union Square House

Overall great stay. House is nicely furnished and clean. The shower gets 10/10 absolutely incredible.

Pros: Plenty of room for our family of 5. Our kids loved the upstairs bedrooms and little backyard. Very close to shopping/dining and we loved the Maprang Bakery for breakfast! Walkable distance to Harvard & plenty of parks & playgrounds nearby. Owner was a fast communicator and accommodating to our requests. Cons: Would not be a good choice for visitors with mobility issues (steep stairs, beds are very low to the ground).

Enjoyed the property. Location was great. Owner was responsive and helpful when there was an issue.

The house was very clean upon arrival and the house had a lot of amenities for the weekend. It was also very close to the train station and a ton of coffee shops and restaurants.

Check in was smooth and we were thankful for the assigned parking spot. The house is small in a very quaint way, not for anyone with mobility issues. Our kids loved the upstairs bedroom attic loft setup, but I would not recommend for kids under 3. We felt we had everything we needed and loved being within walking distance of restaurants and a grocery store. Due to the older nature of the building, the heating is controlled exteriorly by the host and we had to text to get it adjusted a couple of times. He was very responsive & changes happened quickly. I would not hesitate to book again.

This house is so much fun with the climbing wall in the staircase - key for kids with energy when it’s dreary & cold outside in the winter. The upstairs/attic bedrooms were great for kids/teens to chill and build LEGO creations, although the stairs weee very steep. Not for us Ol’ Folks to easily navigate- hence perfect for Young Folks. Fantastic new bathroom & everything you need in the kitchen to cook up a storm. The location can not be beat for a true “live like a local” experience in Somerville/Boston. The history of Union Sq. & the tower just steps away is fascinating. Tons of fantastic restaurants & shops. Would definitely recommend

This is a quaint little home. It’s right near downtown so we were able to do a lot in Boston. Tight parking and a lot of steps once you’re inside it is also a lot of window and floor air conditioners.We did blow breaker, but the host was very quick to respond and we got everything back up. House was clean and again very accessible to downtown.

The stay was fantastic and very close to the public. transit that made this location easy to get to and from downtown to explore. The kitchen had everything we would have needed if we were to cook but we used the coffee supplies wich were in abbundance. The only cons about this stay is the upstairs beds tend to shake slightly when theres movemnet on the main floor (it is an old house) and the upstairs bedroom to the right could hear a metal band play into the late hours from the venue across the street. We would choose this place to stay again as it was nicer and cozier than the past Boston stays we've experienced so far.

Great location when visiting Boston. Walking score is high. You can grab a bite to eat or sit down and enjoy drink at the local bars and eatery. Close to the T. Our host Joe is great. He responded to all messages and helped us better plan for our annual trip to watch College Football

Great location, downstairs bedroom smelled a little mildewy, very creaky steep stairs to the other two bedrooms. Very communicative host.

The property was clean and ready right on time. Communication with the owner was outstanding!We were moving students in to an apartment closer to Harvard so the location was ideal.

Joe was an amazing property manager and we couldn’t have asked for more. He was very responsive when the lights went out and when we had any questions. He even answered our call and walked us through how to fix the light situation!! The location with a parking spot was just what we needed traveling via car but access to the T was great walking proximity. There was so much to do near walking distance; we picked up dinner several times. The market was walking distance too! The bathroom was very nice and water pressure and hot water was great even after all 4 showers! This definitely topped staying in a hotel for our family. Plenty of plates, silverware and basics for cooking! The cons included lack of pantry space as there was a lot of food in it; I’m used to coming in for a week and filling my pantry but there wasn’t enough space for our stuff and we had to use the table to store making meals challenging for 4 people due to minimal space. The fridge and freezer also had some random food including opened items; I’m not comfortable using opened items. The fridge was clean I just didn’t like it had someone else’s food in it. This is not central air, they are window units which I was not prepared for and very loud at night. It was my first time in Boston and noticed window units is the norm so this is more for awareness so it doesn’t come as a surprise.

So we'll set up for travelers. They thought of everything. The shower is flippin' amazing!

Great place! Very quiet, clean, located next to some great restaurants.

Start with the best part - This house is in a great location 2 blocks from T and in a fun neighborhood with good restaurants.It's not clear in the description or photos - the house is actually the 2nd and 3rd floor of the home. The 3rd floor is up a very steep set of steps that was not an option for our mobility challenged family member. 3rd floor beds are on low platforms which could also be a challenge based on mobility.The bathroom is nicely updated and very clean. The rest of the house is a bit like staying at your eccentric family member's house and it was a bit musty.The kitchen had lots of dishes and you could easily cook here.

Everything was as described and the host was very responsive. We enjoyed the walkable proximity to the local park, food options, and the T line.

Property was great - well maintained and stocked, comfortable beds, clean. There was a Pride event in Union Square behind the house and we could barely hear it.The neighborhood is has lots of restaurants/shops and the house is less than two blocks from a T station.

A bright cozy kitchen and beautifully updated bathroom made this home very comfortable for our stay in Boston. Its steep stairs and creaky floors give it the right amount of charm. We walked to the green line, flower shop, outdoor market, bakery and restaurants. Thank you for sharing your home.

This was a family trip to Boston, all of us except my wife for the first time. We had a packed trip and this property was perfectly located in a great neighborhood, with about a 5 minute walk to the T. This was our primary transportation, so that was really nice. The property was clean and well maintained, with a separate room for my wife and I, a friend that was with us, and our 3 children. Joe, the owner, was very quick to respond to questions and was above and beyond accommodating. We highly recommend this property.

We had a grest stay during our trip to Boston! Check in process was easy and property was accurately described. It is right by a metro stop making it very easy to get into downtown boston. There are also lots of restaurants and shops close by.

The overall experience was excellent, the host was extremely responsive and accommodating! We would definitely stay here again!

Great location! Less than two blocks to train station. Took less than half an hour to get to Fenway. Local dining shop steps away. Good family time.

I booked online and found the hosts communicative and the location very walkable. Restaurants, coffee, laundromat, drinks, nails and hair salons are all nearby. The contactless check-in was smooth, the parking pass and space out front easily sorted, and it was even pet friendly. There is a pet friendly green space a couple blocks over. If you don't mind a longer walk Harvard, museums, and downtown Boston are in the vicinity; I saw public bikes and other transport as well. I would certainly revisit some of the restaurants that I tried and there is plenty to do downtown. Their neighbor was even pleasant and briefly said hello. I didn't need to use the 3rd floor bedrooms and found the space very suitable; the stairs to 3rd were too steep for the pups to move up and down comfortably (they got curious, went up, and needed some help down). I did not use any outdoor space this trip. In any case, the location and walkability was my primary interest and it definitely delivered :) The hosts were wonderful about sorting out any questions and helped with check-in timing while remaining contactless. If you want walkable dining, free parking, and pet friendly accommodations then this booking may be for you.

Perfect location for us who wanted to visit Harvard and MIT.

Apartment was great for Union Square. Comfortable and well located with a great new bath. Steep, narrow stairs to 3rd floor bedrooms a small hurdle but our stay was without complaint otherwise. We were happy to find it.

My family and I were in for a wedding and this turned out to be literally around the corner from the venue. The location was convenient, but also in a lovely part of town. The house itself is a mix of dated construction and modern upgrades. The bathroom, in particular, is quite comfortable. On the flip side, the stairs going up to the top floor bedrooms are very, very steep.

Very convenient location. Easy access to public transportation into Boston.

Only reason for the 4 star is the two rooms at the top of what seemed like a latter/ stairs very steep. Over all it was clean and a great neighborhood. I would not hesitate to say again.

The location is close to good restaurants.
