Typical Madeiran House in Calheta, Madeira

we did enjpoy our stay very much. lovley and quite house / area to relax.

Perfect for just the two of us. Tastefully decorated and very roomy. Off the beaten tourist track which suited us down to the ground. Another couple staying with us, though, would've presented bathroom difficulties. Steep flight of stairs to bedrooms could be tricky for anyone with mobility problems. We'd definitely consider going back!

This is a very nice place to stay. The house has been beautifully restored in authentic style. We enjoyed staying in Calheta where there is a nice beach with marina and restaurants. Our hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. I would recommend this rental if you are looking to stay outside of Funchal and have a car.

Our stay in Madeira was perfect as we were lucky enough to stay in this beautiful house. It is very clean ,spacious,light and quiet. You will need a car to get about but very easy to navigate your way around the island from this location .Has a double garage to keep the car safely away at night even though every area we went seemed safe and the people lovely .The owners were very helpful on ideas of places to go and when we had a problem with a exterior door not shutting they got to the cottage quickly to sort it out for us . We would highly recommended this property

The house is perfect restored, very tasteful furnished and equipped with all you need. From the verandah you can enjoy the few to the sea and surrounding - all together creates a wonderful atmosphere. It is quiet and just 100 meter from the house you have a small coffee bar and small supermarket. So a perfect location to relax and also to start to discover the amazing beautiful island of Madeira. The house is rebuilt beautifully. Separate kitchen, cosy livingroom. Bathroom is downstairs. Big terras at living room level, smaller terras at bedroom level. There is no shade on the big terras and one big parasol did no work well, the smaller one coved the outside table. The upper terras gives some shade due to plants. Good size bedrooms and good beds. Note though that you have to go through one bedroom to go to the other. Or go via te outside stairs and terras to bedroom. The house is in area with other houses and a nearby school with outside sport facility. So if you want complete peace and quiet, this is not the place to be as you can hear people playing, talking, driving and dogs barking. Big garage under the house. Good working wifi. There were no herbs, salt, pepper, oil, etc availble, also no soap for doing dishes. We always expect at least something left from previous renters, but perhaps this is not common on Madeira. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed it in this very nice house.

Very nice house, accurate description, fully equipped, clean, large terrace, garage, friendly and informative hosts, welcome pack, in-house BBQ, cosy dining room and table. Attention point: chimney needs cleaning, ash particles drop down on stove.

Good spacious house but as open plan the wind whistled down the chimney in the kitchen and blew through the whole house. Rain also leaked through the kitchen roof. Very little in the way of heating. Had to wear a fleece for fist two days. Much better in improved weather.

We had a fantastic time staying at this house - it had everything we needed for our stay. Plenty of room, inside & out and the garage was useful to keep the car cool out of the sun! Ana was very helpful, right from reserving the house to collecting the keys at the end of our stay. Madeira is full of lovely places to visit and this is a great base to do it from.

This was an excellent property for us. It is nicely situated (back from the tourist coast but easily within reach) and very well appointed and maintained. And for those who haven't been to Madeira before (we hadn't) it is simply beautiful (and very friendly). The only slight downside for the property is the bedroom arrangement (the privacy thereof), which might be inconvenient for two couples.
