Traditional Hawai'i home near Hilo town - solar powered!

Perfect for a large family. Very homey, cozy and accommodating. Loved the deck! It was perfect for gathering, eating, or just enjoying the weather and views.

We like it that it was close to everything, had all the amenities you would need and the property was huge. But there were a few things that made me not give a 5 star. The 3rd bathroom was not convenient. It was in the lowest level of the house in a corner. So the 3 bedrooms including the master had to share 1 bathroom. I like to have my own bathroom so my husband and I had to take the room with a twin bed in it. That room was small and some of the window panes were broken so we could not close it. We had to hear the frogs making noise all night long. Also, one of the bathrooms were not clean and the fridge had a few stains that were not cleaned. Other than that, it was a good place for us to stay for a few days.

This was a typical traditional Hilo home. It reminded me of my grandparent's house. It was very clean and had an ample supply of towels and blankets (it can get cold). The property was close to the center of town (5 minutes) but tucked away in the cool, foresty hillside. The grounds were lovely and the tangerines from the tree were juicy and sweet. We used this as a hub for our fishing and golfing activities and ate out most of the time. We bought poke and spent a nice lunch time on the deck. It was a perfect getaway from Honolulu.

Yes the kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the layout and the large deck with view. Wish we had nicer weather.

Lots of room for everyone except:3 nice bathrooms but one in en-suite type so you have to go through a bedroom to access it. One other bath room is in basement.

Location good, house very satisfactory. Didn’t really do anything except sleep there.

Our host was welcoming, responsive and very accommodating. The house itself was very spacious. Bedding and towels were nice and plentiful. Kitchen was well equipped. outdoor space very nice for breakfast and evenings. We had a lovely few days in Hilo.

Beautiful home in lush surroundings. Huge lanai was so awesome. We all loved staying in this house. We were all excited to come home to this place each night after exploring the east side. Really cool place with lots of character in a really nice neighbourhood of Hilo. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

WiFi did not work. Not enough toiletries for our long stay. Then upon check out, we were charged for “damages” that we did not cause during our stay but were reported as such. We love Hawaii but will never recommend this home again.

Easy check in/entrance. Lots of amenities. Nice peaceful neighborhood. Very close to everything on Hilo side.

Lots of space to spread out. LARGE kitchen space. Beds very comfortable 3 bathrooms! Deck was large frog/birds serenading was enjoyed by all.

This was a nice home base for our adventures on the Hilo side of the island. Great communication with Suzy, cozy beds and lovely beach gear.

House was beautiful, spacious and well stocked with everything you need to your stay, including beach chairs and boogie boards (we did not need them this trip but was nice to have available). It is an older home but is well cared for with some updates. We had a very lovely, comfortable stay.

Lovely setting with lots of birds singing. Host had lots of helpful suggestions about fun and food. Would definitely come again.

We had a fantastic time staying here. Both the house and the yard are beautiful. My young boys loved playing ping pong and hanging out in the treehouse. They also loved finding fruit, frogs, and geckos in the yard. Wonderful property.

Everything about this home is five star. It is comfortable, beautifully decorated and equipped with anything we could possibly need. The lanai is the perfect place to have your morning coffee while enjoying the views. The downstairs game room/workout area was wonderful. The yard was perfect for the kids to play in. It is enclosed (except for the entrance of the driveway) and the kids are safe to play and run. We are truly thankful for a place we could bring our family, be in Hawaii and really enjoy the things the island has to offer that you miss staying at a hotel. Book this home, I promise you will be thankful you did!!
