3rd stay here. Perfect for a chilled vacation with kids. Swimming, snorkelling, fishing and viewing amazing sunsets. Will be coming back as often as possible. New ownership said they will be working on upgrading amenities. Maybe some patio/beach furniture, a kayak or two and some snorkelling fishing gear available would be nice? We rented kayaks and bought 3 sets of fishing gear. Loved it as always
We had a great stay this year at this location. It is so secluded and peaceful. As mentioned in other reviews, the property is a little dated but it didn't bother us at all as it was clean and well maintained. The kitchen was well stocked with all the pans and dishes you would need. The only minor complaint we have is about the outdoor seating. The loungers are really beat up--dripping rust water when you moved them and ripped chairs. We would have also loved more seating options outside on the lower level/dock. We would love to return someday!
This property is fantastic! The location is off the beaten path enough for privacy but also close enough to anything you could want (groceries, restaurants, bait and more). The dock is fantastic and easily accommodated our boat. Tons of fish can be caught right off the dock and watching the key deer run through the yard in the evenings is amazing. Highly recommend! Just make sure you bring a head lamp to enjoy the dock area at night.
Good house for boating
This home was perfect for our vacation. We rented a boat for 4 days, but only used it for 2 days. The home had everything we needed so there was no need to venture off. We stayed on the dock the majority of the time. We snorkeled, paddleboard, and fished. In person, the property was way more beautiful! The home was super clean. We are hoping to rent again!
Beautiful spacious property and home, with great long dock. Good variety of wildlife seen daily along with terrific sunrises and sunsets. Excellent nearby restaurants.... Kiki's, Broil and Little Palm Island.
When we checked in, there were a few hiccups with the rental, but the management addressed the issues first thing the next morning. This rental is in a great location! It does need some updating though! There is chipping paint on the ceiling of the master bedroom and most if not all the pocket and slider doors need to be replaced or put back in the tracks. None of them worked properly and you had to be very careful when closing and opening them. All of the towels should be replaced. Most of them had stains on them (probably bleach) but they just looked and felt old. And one thing that anyone who is renting this unit should know is that the front steps leading up to the unit are pretty steep and there are a lot of them. I am 56 and in good shape, but if you have elderly or physically challenged individuals in your party this could be an issue. Overall this is a nice place and would get 5 stars all throughout, but it needs updating. Great location though.
Been coming here with the family for spring break since 2017. We have loved the relaxing, snorkeling, fishing, swimming, beautiful sunsets, and all the keys offers. Probably the last year now the kids are in high school and college so this last trip was bittersweet. Highly recommended for families.
Tarpon & baracuda around the dock. Amazing place. Remote but still close enough to go out for an evening. Uber works here. Bring medium to heavy poles. 15# braid on medium poles, 40# braid on heavy poles. Use a 3 way setup with a bobber and live shrimp or crabs. Have a guide take you to get 40” Baracuda. OMG. I had 4 chances last one was a heartbreak. I will be back.
Beautiful spot if you want access to the lower keys but not stay in the thick of it. Very private escape.
Had a great time. Beautiful water views, lots of fish, sharks can be seen from pier. Needs a bit of updating - i.e. peeling paint in small area of ceiling, difficult to use pocket doors, and outdoor flood light needs bulbs - very dark at night. But otherwise excellent.
Loved the location. Was worried about being on a cistern but we had plenty of water for family of 4. . Would be nice to have some method to monitor usage. The pier was awesome. Saw lots of rays, nurse sharks and fish.
This house was such a gem! It is clean, not overly furnished with a bunch of stuff, everything was comfortable and in great condition. The kitchen was well stocked, the views are stunning. We loved the privacy and the landscaping, and especially enjoyed the little reef around the dock! We saw loads of fish, a little nurse shark, a sea turtle swimming by and a sting ray multiple times during our stay. We can’t wait to go back here in February.
This place was the PERFECT getaway for our family of five. The location is just far enough off of the beaten path to be the perfect tranquil getaway. We never saw a neighbor and not much boat traffic. The artificial reef was amazing and made for great fishing and snorkeling. There was also a perfect spot next to the dock to put in kayaks and SUP. We saw key deer, iguana, nurse sharks and bonnetheads, barracuda, and tons of snapper and grunts. The balcony or dock were the perfect spots for watching the sunset. We also thought that the home looked better in person than it did in the listing photos. Could use some updates, but the layout was perfect for us. Plenty of room inside, and we loved that the balcony wrapped around the entire house. Great for watching for deer. The only negatives that we can mention were a few preventative maintenance things: the pocket doors didn’t work very well, the couch covers had dog hair on them, and there were some ants(?) in the kitchen. Also, the entry stairs were very tall and steep. If you have any mobility issues, this could potentially be a problem. It would be helpful to have a photo of the stairs in the listing. We were a little worried about the water supply being from a cistern, but never had any issues at all and washed clothes during the week. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend! Easy check-in and check-out. Great host!
Great location. Enjoyed porch dock and sunsets. Will definitely come back.
Beautiful views! Secluded and quiet, felt like we had the key to ourselves. Would definitely go back!
Great property and view. Tons of potential. Dock needs some serious work. We named it the rickety reef. Needs new beds and interior repairs.
We found this house to be more than perfect! It had everything we needed and more. Well stocked, positioned perfectly with a lot of space, and completely peaceful. I would highly recommend this home for anyone looking to visit the keys but also wanting a quiet sanctuary.
This is our second annual trip to Torchview and there will be a third in 2023!
