Tongariro Riverside holiday house

Great location. Nice little bach.

Mold Pit - the property stunk so badly. Had to open all the windows immediately. I'm an environmental consultant for my work and have met a lot of people who's health has been really messed up by mold. I was traveling with my father on this trip and he not very sensitive much of anything and he slept on the couch with the windows open because it stunk the least. Lots of stuff is very surface level clean. The smell of the pillows made me almost throw up. Smelled like old sweat and urine. You have to put your own bedding on the beds which was different - some of the sheets smelled clean some smelt horrible so not sure what was clean or not. Found mold in the washing machine... We came this this area to hike Tongariro and there was a stupid Rahui (a ban) put over the park the night before our hike for the rest of the time in New Zealand. We left a day early and booked another place it was such a horrible experience. Also the doors had marks on them which appears someone tried to break in before. Good riddance would never stay again and I high recommend you avoid. Emailed the owners and asked for a refund for one night but no response. No big deal though. If you value air quality and a clean place I'd recommend avoiding. Too bad this beautiful area was ruined by an unclean property.

The fireplace was just awesome! Even better that it was going when we arrived :) such a nice spot right on the river!

Awesome place, great location, oven didnt work. Plenty of room, comfortable beds aside from the fold out couch, used the double mattress found underneath the house instead.

The bach was very clean and well equiped.We did not need the fire, but if we had it was set and ready to light on our arrival.There were plenty of heaters to keep us warm for the cool evenings.Also plenty of warm blankets and duvets.The host Chris is very communicative and friendly.The location is ideal with lovely views of the river, and has easy access to walking tracks.Loved how this place has kept lots of its original character and been beautifully maintained.

Great location, great size, laundry facilities very good, hot water great.Stove top was cooking very hot even on low, no Wi-FI, needs to be in listing. For along stay it was inconvenient.Fireplace worked very well lots of woo. Good refrigerator, not very clean when we arrived.All in all a very nice stay, thank you Chris.

The amenties were comprehensive. Great spot overlooking the river. Comfortable and relaxing.

We absolutely loved our stay 10 out of 10 for everything we were sadden to leave kids enjoyed we enjoyed the owner of the home has made sure to make this property a home away from home for sure and we are already planning on coming back very very soon

Fishing lodge just the way you like it..

We had a lovely time here, perfect for our little family. Really beautiful walk along the river and so nice to sit in front of a cozy fire. Particularly good hot shower given our cold weather!

I'd guess it's our 4th or 5th stay, our preferred base when venturing down to try our luck on the rivers. Basic but everything we need is included. We really enjoy the heavy flow shower and the pre diner drink spot overlooking the river...remembering always to bring camp chairs. Thanks again for letting us stay.

Lovely house with a lovely view right on the riverside. Birdsong and sunbathing bunnies were our morning wake up. The mountains are an easy drive to get to and Taupo Centre also not too far. There were a couple of things I needed to connect about with the owner and had a reply in good time. They showed support. We would happily stay here again.

The location is nice. I check in. We couldn’t find the lockbox as there’s no instructions to where it was and host get back to us when we asked that quick. There’s no pool which was In the listing, no Wi-Fi which was in the listing, There were two bikes which the listing said, but they were completely on rideable. The house is not clean when we arrived, bathrooms were pretty disgusting and leftover food in the refrigerator, which was unplugged and open. Overall bad stay . I’ve reported them to VRBO since their listing specifies certain things, but does not have them. Host made no attempt to make anything correct And they took forever to respond if and when they did.

It's the third time we've stayed at the Riverside House, it's a well maintained, basic two bedroom house right on the river. The best spot in Turangi as far as we are concerned.

Absolutely gorgeous property in a super tranquil area. We had the best time disconnecting and relaxing. Would love to stay again.

A very enjoyable place to stay in a great location next to the river. The third year my mate and I have stayed, and we'll be back next year. Caught loads of fish, despite some not so great weather.

Had an maxing stay at this property. Warm, dry and very comfortable. Amazing location beside the river and close to walks and wildlife. Thoroughly recommended!
