Located in the small town of Jenner, Sonoma County, California, our riverside house boasts river access and a quiet, yet central coastal location perfect for river, ocean and wine country exploration. Numerous activities abound nearby including kayaking & boating, beaches, wildlife viewing, hiking, golf, wineries, gourmet restaurants and much more! Whether you are looking for the perfect place to curl up with a book or to experience the bounties of California wine country, you'll find it here!

Why stay here and not elsewhere : We believe that details make a difference, so we supply several complimentary extras to add to your enjoyment of the property. There will be a bottle of local wine and chocolates, seasonal decor, and what you might need to enjoy a day at the beach. We include beach bags with towels, mats, and frisbees. Also, special occasion extras upon request.

The Viking House is a prime location to enjoy the Sonoma County coast. While Bodega Bay is often foggy and grey, it's been our experience that Jenner generally gets more hours of sunshine, even in the winter. Although it's not unusual to see fog in the mornings in all four seasons, the weather remains pleasant throughout the majority of the year. In summer, it's bright with warm sun, but, with gentle ocean breezes, it remains much cooler than inland areas.

Russian River: Kayaking and canoeing are some of the best ways to experience the river. Just down the street from the house, you can rent a kayak and experience a whole different perspective of the town and the surrounding hills. Paddle around Penny Island, go to Goat Rock beach or get up close and personal with birds and seals fishing in the mouth of the river. When you get tired, you can bring the kayak up to shore at the house and rest before heading out again. Once you've explored the areas around Jenner, you can head upriver to Duncan's Mills and Guerneville where you can also rent equipment to enjoy redwood views in slower moving waters. For more details about the area and our home, visit our website, see link below.

Bodega Bay: A visit to the bustling fishing community of Bodega Bay will be a highlight of your stay. On the way, you can stop at a variety of beaches, including Shell beach, one of the best places to explore wildlife in Tidal pools and study interesting geological rock formations. When you get to Bodega Bay, exploring the shops, art galleries and fine restaurants is a pleasant way to enjoy the area. Also, many coastal adventures can be arranged. You can book and rent gear for all kinds of fishing and watersport outings, including deep sea fishing, whale watching (in season), surfing and more. Horse lovers will enjoy riding on the beach through Chanslor Stables. Golfers will relish memorable views while hitting a round at Bodega Harbour Golf Links, an 18 hole Scottish links style course. Film buffs will enjoy taking a short drive inland to the town of Bodega where Alfred Hitchcock filmed the classic movie, 'The Birds.'

Viking House was an incredibly charming home with an unbeatable view of the Russian River, Goat Rock Beach, and the Pacific. The home is walkable to a couple of cafes and kayak rentals. The house was stocked with all the essentials. Especially noteworthy was the history of Jenner and the property. We enjoyed our home away from home on an anniversary trip and would love to stay here again!

This was a last-minute weekend reset, and I'm so glad I picked this property! It checked every box, and I had a wonderfully peaceful and easy weekend...just what I had in mind. The view from the back patio was amazing, and I had the extra good luck to catch the full moon over the water! Epic! I will definitely be back...it has everything you want and is close to whatever you need. Perfect property!

Overall this was great and the river view deck was fabulous. We loved the weekend and had a great time. The only issue we had is my one of us is very sensitive to mold and mildew and the downstairs had just enough to force us to stay upstairs. If you are sensitive to the challenge of being near the water and dampness be aware. We kayaked, hiked the coast and loved the weekend in Jenner.

It was a perfect spot for a get away. Views were spectacular. Quiet, lovely, beautiful, clean. Kitchen was very functional. Within walking distance of many fun opportunities. Only minor issue was the bed was not made upon arrival and the lovely home was heated by space heaters - and a bit chilly upon arrival because the space heaters were turned off and we were there on a chilly weekend. Overall, great experience and would highly recommend!

Diane was thorough in her instructions before our arrival and responsive, kind and understanding when we had to delay our arrival to the property due to an emergency with one of our pups. The property was in a great location, clean and well stocked. Beautiful views from the deck which both people and four legged friends could enjoy!

Great Holiday Weekend stay on the Russian River in Jenner with views of the sea. Super clean and well-appointed home. Easy access and no problems during our stay. A cozy wood stove took the chill off in the evening. Although we needed a small Duraflame log to get the fire started, we found some within walking distance at the convenience store by the Jenner Inn. Heaters downstairs kept the bed and bathrooms comfortable. We spotted lots of birds and harbor seals from the back decks. Sunset views were amazing! Kayakers were fun to watch, too. We'll be back in the warmer months to jump into the water adventures. Our favorite hiking trails were just minutes away at Jenner Headlands. I strongly recommend this home and will certainly consider staying again.

This is a wonderful place that was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful location, clean, and well maintained. Our pets were accepted, and they enjoyed the stay as well. This was our first experience using VRBO, and we can't imagine a better first time.

Charming authentic lake cabin that been in the same family for 50 years. Very thoughtful touches throughout. We rented kayaks from King’s Sport Tackle for 3 days, they dropped them at the Jenner marina and we paddled right up to the Vicking House. We went kayaking at 6 am and 6 pm daily. We saw so much wildlife and our dog enjoyed kayaking as well. For breakfast we paddled to the Aquatica Cafe. Enjoyed eating dinner at adorable Dunken Mills town. Visited Fort Ross with a stunning view of lagoon. Went golfing in among giant redwoods on a dog friendly golf course! Had a phenomenal vacation and hope to be back! Lower level was added later and has circular stairs, but we just used the regular outside stairs and that worked great. Beds were comfortable, house was clean, easy parking for large SUV. Would highly recommend

It’s all about the location! We saw tons of wildlife including; bald eagles, otters, seals and osprey. We launched our kayaks down the road and kept them on shore to use daily. The coffee shop down the road was also good. Owners were wonderful to work with. We will be back!
