New Iberia, Louisiana
Sitting in the heart of downtown New Iberia, this beautiful, historic Victorian home was built in 1897. It has three bedrooms, and will easily sleep eight people with two queen beds, two twin beds, and a queen sized sleeper sofa. It also has a full kitchen, a separate dining area with seating for six, and music room/parlor. We invite you to enjoy the sounds of New Iberia while enjoying coffee on the front porch or playing the antique piano in the music room.
Situated next door to St. Peter's Catholic Church and three blocks away from the historic Shadows on the Teche, this house is steps away from everything downtown New Iberia has to offer -- festivals, dining, shopping, coffee, nightlife, and even parades. It is also a short drive away from Avery Island, Jefferson Island, and all the beauty that surrounds Acadiana.
If you're visiting New Iberia for a wedding, class reunion, the Sugar Cane Festival, the World Championship Gumbo Cookoff, or just a weekend getaway, we invite you to enjoy the convenience of our home. Special weekly and monthly rates are available upon request. Please note that the rental is for the downstairs unit only.
Very easy check in process and great communication with the property owner. The house was well accommodated and has everything you need.
So the house was good, we liked where it was located in that it was close to down town. New Iberia city park is amazing, you must visit . Thereโs cool restaurants and shopping. But itโs 30 yards from a train that runs all night and since thereโs no crossing guards at the tracks, they blare that horn non stop. Especially between 3-4 am The church about 70 yards away has a bell tower that goes off each hour. For some reason , at 6 am it just starts dinging, and not 6 times to let you know the time. Itโs the towns alarm clock I guess and it will ding 20 times. Between 6 and 7 am Iโd estimate at least 40 dings The house is on a major street and you will also hear thump thump thump of steroes and people gunning their engine I feel like the noise should be mentioned prominently in the listing as it can be problematic for families with small kids and frankly, anyone with ears Thereโs also an exhaust fan in one bathroom thatโs so loud you wonโt want to use the light in there Iโm conflicted writing this review, the house is cool, its proximity to the things to do in town is cool. And the nightly rate is great. But dang, I need a nap
Great stay
Authentic old house. Slept everyone perfectly. We loved it. Our only complaint was the very loud exhaust fan in the front bathroom. We all avoided using that one unless absolutely necessary.
House is great, could use a few newer mattress' but other than that it's an awesome house.
Loved it!!
Four friends from high school get together in our own back yards to be tourist in our own communities. We ate dinner at Jane's seafood and walked to breakfast just a block away at Victor's Cafe. We walked to the farmer's market at Bouligny Plaza, Books Along the Teche and Fudge it on Main Street. The house has 3 large bedrooms with comfortable bed. It is full of old world charm with modern bathrooms. Central AC made things cool and comfortable. We enjoyed chatting around the kitchen island. Would definitely recommend this home.
Overall great place to stay in New Iberia. Loved the central location with proximity to Main Street. Loved historical nature of home with beautiful parlor. Soaps provided were a really nice touch. We had to eat in more due to some health issues. And owners thankfully flagged uneven thresholds for our elderly family member along for our trip. Condiments and other cooking items provided. We flagged a couple of issues with oven and toaster and owners were quick to respond and try to remedy.
Nice property. We enjoyed walking to restaurants, bars, shops. We even were able to walk over and tour Shadows on the Teche, which we highly recommended. Property owner is very nice and easy to communicate with.
Loved it!
Super clean historic home. Decorated very nice. Large bathrooms. GREAT location with many places to walk. Would definitely stay there again!! Great hosts!!!!
Everything was seamless and pleasant. Owners were very responsive. Thank you for a lively stay.
We stayed 2 nights for a rehearsal and wedding. There was a large table in the room with a makeup mirror that was great! 7 of us got ready with plenty of room. We slept great! Host left cokes, water, coffee and bathroom items that were very convenient!
Nice place. Busy street and lots of train traffic but the White noise machines in bedrooms are great
This place was great for our family, we stayed for my daughters wedding shower,,, Everything was great ,?
Lovely, historic property with all the charm of yesteryear. Extremely clean! Wonderful location! Everything we needed for a family gathering. Happy to have been able to experience this 125 year old girl!
All good. The train was annoying but it was a minor blip. I would definitely stay there again.
We needed a place to say, close to Lafayette. This house, and the host, is above and beyond expectations (7 stars!). House location is excellent, walking distance to a few restaurants, coffee shops. The house has many antique items (loved the old piano!), yet it also has very modern amenities (coffee machine, fridge, washer&dryer, french tub... all look new&clean). Our little kids had a great time in this spooky house. Checkout instructions? Just close the door when leaving! None of that take out the garbage, towels in bathroom, wash dishes etc. that many vrbo hosts mandate..
We enjoyed the house and the spaciousness. It was clean and had all the necessary things needed for a comfortable stay. On the down side there is some street noise. However each bedroom had a noise reduction device which did help. Truly loved that it was in walking distance of the St. Peterโs Church and many other places. Definitely recommend staying here. We had a wonderful stay!
I can't say enough positive things about St. Peter House! We look forward to staying here each time, and Rory and Alice have never disappointed. The home is beautiful, with so much history, and has everything you need and more.
My husband and I are touring historic Catholic Churches in Louisiana. Your home & location was perfect! We followed all of your recommendations for sites to visit. It was a great weekend. Many Thanks!
