Welcome to the Corner Store! This is a highly unique space -- built in 1902, it was once a small neighborhood grocery shop. Enjoy the large storefront windows, tall pressed tin ceiling, and the amazing backyard/sauna.

Please note that this is the lower level of a duplex -- the apartment is private and all yours, but there is an apartment above you where other guests will be staying as well.

The space is airy and open with high ceilings, and filled with original art, plants, thoughtful touches, and modern comforts -- yet it retains its historic and unconventional character. Custom-made furniture and local art makes for a stylish vibe, and a wall full of books will keep you well-read.

The backyard is like an urban oasis — fully fenced in and private, with lush gardens, multiple decks, lounge space, and a fire pit, and a fantastic wood-burning sauna.

—————
CHECK-IN
—————

Ultra-easy with a keypad lock on the front door. I send the code when you book! I do not need to be present when you check in.

—————
BEDROOMS
—————

There are two bedrooms in the unit -- a main bedroom with a queen-sized foam mattress that has a private entrance/exit to the backyard, and shares a hallway to the kitchen and bathroom. The sunny storefront space can also be a bedroom — there`s a double Murphy bed hidden in the wall, complete with a comfortable Tuft & Needle memory foam mattress, and outlets for your devices.

—————
BATHROOM
—————

There is one bathroom, which is small but has everything you need: tub/shower, sink, toilet, fresh white towels and washcloths, a hairdryer, and complimentary shampoo/body wash.

—————
KITCHEN
—————

Fully stocked, open, and ready for you to whip up an award-winning meal. Sharp knives, all the utensils and dishware and cooking equipment, a full oven/range, a full size dishwasher, commercial steel sink and faucet, and concrete countertops.

—————
LIVING/DINING ROOM
—————

The large, open storefront space is a combined living and dining room, with plenty of space to hang out and watch TV on the large 55” flatscreen with soundbar (all streaming services available), or gather at the huge dining room table near the plant-filled front windows. It’s a beautiful and relaxing space that also photographs really well. :)

—————
BACKYARD
—————

The backyard is a special spot — plenty of decks, lounge spots, garden beds, and a fire pit. Best of all, there`s a wood-fired sauna for you to enjoy — perfect for the wintertime. The yard is also a great area for photo shoots — weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, or anything else!

—————
NEIGHBORHOOD
—————

Just steps away within walking distance, you`ll find live music, coffee shops, award-winning food, breweries, and art galleries. Notable nearby restaurants and cafes:

- Young Joni, by James Beard award-winning chef Ann Kim
- Owamni by The Sioux Chef (named Best New Restaurant in 2022 by the James Beard foundation)
- Hai Hai, by James Beard Award-nominee Christine Nguyen
- Northeast Social
- Oro by Nixta
- The Briar
- The Anchor
- Vinai by chef Yia Vang

The entire first floor of the building is yours!

I will interact with guests as much or as little as needed -- I love to give recommendations on where to eat, where to see great live music, etc. I`m reachable 24/7 via phone, text, and email.

I know this neighborhood inside and out, and will provide you with my ultra-awesome, comprehensive neighborhood guide when you book :)

The takeaway: you`re in the epicenter of the best food, drink, coffee, art, and culture in town, walkable to most of it. If you`re a beer fanatic, you`re a stone`s throw from over a dozen local breweries.

You are within walking distance of three of Minneapolis’ most award-winning restaurants:

- Hai Hai (a 5 min walk)
- Popol Vuh (10 min walk)
- Young Joni (15 min walk)

When you venture out, you will find yourself in the heart of the Northeast Arts District -- a safe, charming residential neighborhood that is within 1-2 miles of coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and all manner of excellent restaurants, bars, and attractions, in addition to incredible local breweries, hundreds of artist studios, and more.

Our street is a designated bikeway, among many others that cover the entire city. Minneapolis is one of the best biking cities in the country, and we provide maps and route advice to get you just about anywhere.

We are close to the center of downtown, the Minneapolis chain of lakes, and Target Field (the new Twins stadium). The largest art crawl/festival in the nation, Art-a-Whirl, takes place directly in our neighborhood every May.

There is plentiful, unrestricted street parking right in front of the house! Biking is a great way to get around this neighborhood -- there are conveniently located NiceRide bike stations available nearby, and all over the city. There are major bus lines very close by which will zip you to downtown, the U of M campus, and most anywhere else -- including to the light rail, which connects with the airport, the Mall of America, and St. Paul.

Sales tax is included in your nightly rate.

There are freshly washed towels, washcloths, and bedsheets for every guest. There is soap and shampoo/conditioner, and a hair dryer. There`s also an iron/board for your convenience.
1. This is very important: NO loud parties, and noise must be kept to an absolute minimum after 10pm every night. You are staying in a duplex, and there will be guests staying in the other unit. Please respect this! If you are coming back to the house late at night, take care to be quiet when entering or exiting. Common sense stuff, but it`s all very important.

2. You are also staying in a neighborhood, and my neighbors are super cool people -- please respect them by being quiet and considerate when exiting/entering the house, and when you`re spending any time in the yard, on the decks, etc.

3. This is my house; I love sharing it with guests, but it is my home -- please treat it respectfully!

4. Please don`t wear shoes in the house; keep them in the entryway.

5. No pets.

6. No additional guests are allowed to stay beyond those who are booked -- please be honest about how many people are staying. There are very good reasons for this; if you have questions, just ask.

7. Absolutely no smoking, and no vaping or e-cigarettes inside. There is a backyard, back deck, and front sidewalk if you need to smoke. Please dispose of cigarette butts appropriately.

8. On checkout, please do your best to leave the apartment as it was when you checked in.

9. If anything comes up that`s not to your liking, please let me know so that I can fix it!

Such a cute, well maintained and stocked vrbo, in a convenient location! The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room to stretch out. Pete was always available to answer questions. We highly recommend.

Check in was very easy and Pete’s instructions & information helped a lot. Kitchen had everything one would need. Wi fi great & TV was easy to run given Pete’s thorough instructions. Curtains could have been better at darkening the room for sleeping. But I am sensitive to light so not a big deal. The location was the main reason I chose this because I was visiting friends nearby. Beds were very comfortable.

We had plans all over Minneapolis and Corner Store was a great location for our base camp. We also loved the Sauna & lovely back yard as well as the host’s neighborhood recommendations.

We loved staying at the Cornerstore! It's a super unique space with a cool history and tons of charm. I loved all of the plants and the unique artwork. It made it feel like a real home. Pete was a fantastic host. He made great recommendations for things to do and places to eat and came and helped with the T within minutes of me sending a message. We would gladly stay here again!TV within minutes ofmessagemessage.

This was our second stay and it was just as good as last time. It happened to be a classic Minneapolis winter weekend with temperatures below zero most of the time. The living space was great to hang out in and warm up during the cold, playing games and reading. And, the sauna was amazing after we spent a day exploring the city in the cold. We will be back.

My wife and I stayed in NE Minneapolis while visiting our daughter who recently moved to the neighborhood. We chose to stay in this rental as a change of pace from a hotel and for proximity to the many restaurants in the area. The storefront house did not disappoint. It was perfectly located in a quiet part of the neighborhood with access to many restaurants that were all easily walkable. The rental was as described and quite clean with a well supplied kitchen. It also has a quite comfortable living area we enjoyed to sit and relax in at the beginning and end of the days. We have already schedule our next stay early in the new year when we again visit our daughter in Minneapolis. What a nice find.

This was home base for visits to relatives and friends in the area. The place has a fascinating history (look for the notebook on the shelf). It is a great example of converting a historic structure to a new use. The host is great at maintaining communication. Bring your passwords if you want to watch some of the streamers on the big screen. We'll be back.

We were looking for a place to stay so that we could go to the FooFighters concert. This cozy, quaint place was easy to find via Maps. It was a 3 mile walk to the Target Field. We felt very safe during our walk. You can rent bikes or scooters if you can find them. Most of them were already rented out. The walk was easy and SAFE. The host gave us many suggestions ranging from coffee to dinner, and things to do. We did go to Young Joni's for dinner. This place was amazing. We enjoyed a pizza and a couple of drinks. We also enjoyed donuts at Glam Donuts. The host was easy to communicate with. He sent us a message a couple of days in advanced indicating how to check in, the ins and outs of the property. The day of our arrival, he sent us the list of sites to eat or venture into. The day before our departure he sent us a message on the check out procedure. 100% satisified.

The apartment was charming and comfortable, with space for the four of us (two couples). The neighborhood has a lot of places to grab food and drinks, short walk to the river path, and easy to get around.
