Cabrera, Maria Sanchez
This spectacular oceanfront villa offers the perfect combination of privacy, comfort, and proximity to the town of Cabrera. The SeaDog Inn is a truly tropical island setting offering its own small private beach and generous accommodations.
Our spacious vacation home features a total of 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and can sleep 10 guests comfortably. The first floor comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a suitable kitchen, dining space, and a welcoming living room. On this level, you'll find everything you need for a relaxing stay. The crowning jewel of our property is the master suite on the second floor, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. Additionally, we have our exclusive "Sunrise Suite" master, providing a unique and luxurious experience just 50 ft from the main house. There is also air-conditioning in each bedroom of the house.
Our multi-language staff is there to assist you in every way you desire from fully cooked gourmet meals to complete privacy. They can also grocery shop, run errands, and show you around the area. It really is like being on a resort. We also encourage you to try the local restaurants, as they are both fun to visit and enjoyable to try.
The patio bar quickly becomes the gathering place at The SeaDog. The bar itself is framed with humpback whale bones collected by local fishermen from the Atlantic Ocean as they washed ashore. Outdoor seating and lounging areas add to the comfort and create a perfect area to enjoy. The pool’s infinity-edge design gives the illusion that it merges with the horizon, offering an uninterrupted view of the boundless sea. The attached waterfall adds an element of calmness as the water flows. If you’re traveling with kids, they will absolutely love this.
Cabrera has everything close by from waterfalls to a historic lighthouse and natural crystal-clear lakes. The beaches are fabulous with white sand stretching along the coastline. There are enough unique local restaurants to add an extra dimension to your Dominican experience. We'll supply you with a guide for your convenience.
Whether you're basking in the glow of the sunrise from the master suite or enjoying shared moments in the living spaces, this coastal haven promises a blend of relaxation and natural beauty. Embrace the experience of oceanfront living as you create timeless memories at The SeaDog Inn.

Place has beautiful views and is quiet and peaceful. Anderson was excellent and very accommodating and informative. Lucy was great as well. Had a great time. Thanks to Johnie, Anderson and Lucy.
Beautiful place and great housekeeping team.
We did a fair amount of research prior to committing to the Seadog. My wife and I had been to the DR several times, mostly staying at upscale resorts in Punta Cana. This was the first visit for our two teenaged children and my mother-in-law. We were looking for something more immersed in the local experience, and we found it. Our group of five had a great time. We spent plenty of time connecting and spending time together at the property. It is designed for plenty of group interaction at the bar, pool and patio. But it is spacious enough to give everyone plenty of leeway to spend their own time reading or relaxing alone as well. The five bedrooms are split into four bedrooms in the main house and a separate mini-house with the final room, which is where my wife and I stayed. It is right at the edge of the cliff overlooking the ocean. This is an undersold feature of the property and one of our favorite amenities. Lucy and Anderson are as good as advertised. They are friendly, knowledgeable about the local area, and great hosts. We ate breakfast at the villa everyday and had dinner there all but four nights, when we ate at local restaurants with excellent suggestions and guidance from the two of them. Prior to going, we had seen reviews describing the Seadog as rustic. That is a good description. Lucy and Anderson keep everything clean and in working order, but it is not a five-star resort, nor is it trying to be. We enjoyed the authentic local living experience, and we regularly headed into Cabrera to the Super Mercado, restaurants, town waterfront, just to take a walk, etc., interacting with the locals in the process. That is exactly what we were looking to do. We did opt for the rental car and used it often. We went to Playa Grande / Playa Preciosa multiple times. It is about a 15 minute drive. It is a very nice beach area with a great sandy bottom and in-water experience. We went more more distant excursions to snorkel and to go canyoning (at Magic Mushroom, which you should consider if adventurous). Those attractions are out toward Sosua and an hour or more by car. By design, we were looking to be off the beaten path and many of the biggest tourist attractions are further way. There are great beaches, Laguna Dudu (worth a trip), some limited snorkeling right at the Seadog beach and other close-by activities, to be sure. But be prepared to drive to others. Overall, we loved our experience and would definitely do it again.
Really good experience. Maybe the most beautiful view you could ever imagine!! For those bringing kids, the bedroom that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean is detached from the house and VERY private?
Having staff cook great food and clean made our trip as comfortable as possible. We will be back
Julia does an outstanding job managing this property! The food was superb, Lucy is an amazing cook.. we did eat out one night, but actually regretted it due Lucy’s fantastic cooking.. Anderson was also great, from make fish/lobster runs, to the way he takes such great care of the property.. We did have a few hot water shower issues, but overall the Seadog was very enjoyable place to stay.. I was skeptical due to all the great reviews, but I found them all to be very truthful.. Julia does a great job with this place!!
What can I say? The Sea Dog Inn is great. I arrived stressed to the max but a couple days by the pool listening to the waves crash in the cove below had me totally relaxed in a couple days. Julia is the best and makes sure your stay is everything you want. She put together a list of all the available activities with pricing so we could review and decide what we wanted to do ... She then helped to arrange it. We also got to experience a true DR pig roast up at the farm. Anderson and Lucy are just the best! Need a bag of ice?..off on the scooter Anderson goes to the store. Lucy prepared some amazing meals. We were a group of adults and the property is big enough to allow privacy but also has several common areas to mingle. Definitely going to return as soon as I can.
The property is well managed by Julia who is very friendly and a fantastic host. She made us feel welcomed and well-taken care of. She was available almost 24/7 to make recommendations and to help with wifi and other issues with the house like balancing hot and cold water properly and the use of the oven and grill. Lucy and Anderson are always in the house to make meals, clean, take care of the property, and anything else we needed almost anytime. We highly recommend for a large family or like us a family of 4 with each of our children bringing a friend. Cabrera is a hard-working but friendly town with great beaches and near some great activities like zip lining, monkey feeding, and snorkeling or scuba diving. You can use USD's everywhere but not credit cards. However, the ATM's dispenced Dominican pesos from your checking account with your bank's ATM card. The only recommendations we have is for the owner to add more blinds or curtains to some windows to keep out the sun early in the morning. Everything else was perfect! If we did not have so many places to visit we would definitely be back. Muchas gracias por todo!!!
So I have 3 issues with this place- first issue- all the rules! So as soon as you get there (well not first thing as soon as you get there- the first thing as soon as you get there is they met us at the door with many daiquiris)- but they then set you down and go over all these rules- so the rules are: #1 no work- #2 you have to relax- and #3 you can't worry- really?? People these days still have those rules? Like those are not the type rules that we are use to- but Julia can be pretty persuasive- so we didn't want to rock the boat- and she made us follow those rules the whole time we were there! So second issue is that we only booked for 4 nights- now I know that is crazy- if you go to the Sea Dog, you will wish that you (MUST) stay at least 7 nights- you will be disappointed if you do not stay for prolong time frames- I'm not sure what we were thinking- 4 nights? So issue three is that VBRO will only allow 5 stars? That is not enough stars for Sea Dog? If 5 is the best then this place is a 7 or more! Seriously Julia and her staff are the best! The home is beautiful, large and roomy with fantastic views of the water- and very clean. And Julia knows all the cool places to visit (and there are many beautiful beaches within minutes of the Sea Dog)- they will help coordinate every meal if wanted- they can handle transportation from and back to the airport and even the rental car (but of course they will want to drive you around so as not to violate those 3 sacred rules of hers). So while we are fortunate and we can travel anywhere over the globe- this is the very first place my wife has said- we are coming back here again soon! - ok so if you know my wife, well I guess that is another new rule. Julia we will see you guys again very soon- thank you so much for allowing us to stay and for making us follow the rules!
Had excellent customer service from Julia, Lucy and Andy. They made the entire family feel at home. Nothing beats the view. Great beaches nearby. The house is a little old and had some power issues but the ACs worked great at night. Unbeatable value. Counts down to go back next year!
