Fennville, Michigan
Welcome to Sanctuary House
Sanctuary House, a chic, relaxed, contemporary house with room for 10, sits in the middle of its own six-acre forest of hardwood trees. Perfect for a relaxing vacation.
INSIDE THE HOME
Its warm, uncluttered interior boasts gorgeous amber pine floors (great for allergy sufferers!) and an open living and dining area, with a breakfast nook. But the real star of the house is the spacious screened porch, completely surrounded by forest. Ahhh.
Feeling sporty The house has its own tennis court (and rackets), great for tennis of course, but also soccer, skating, and goofing around. There are lawn games and various beachy things, and since Glenn's little-visited beach is just a half-mile walk on a private path through the woods, you'll be needing them. (You can also drive to the beach – parking is usually available and always free.) The beach is rocky, however, so water shoes are strongly recommended. When you get back, the outdoor shower awaits, as does a charcoal grill on the patio, a fire ring for s'mores, and a first-rate hammock by the creek.

THE LOCATION
The tiny town of Glenn consists of one flashing light, one convenience store (which has all the essentials and makes good pizza), and one diner (which is everything a diner should be). Even though the delights of Saugatuck and South Haven are just 15 minutes away on the beautiful Blue Star Highway, you may find it hard to leave.

The Sanctuary is a nice place with plenty of different spaces to gather, and great for groups of 8-10 or so. The screened in deck was great, the kitchen large and the front porch was nice in the mornings also. Areas for improvement: the twin mattresses and the basement queen are in need of replacement and some of family really struggled to get a decent nights sleep. The artwork on the walls was also very personal, different and a little disconcerting for our group. Beauty in the eye of the beholder . . . Very convenient location overall, though.
Loved the property and location. So peaceful! Will definitely be back!
Three generations of our family very much enjoyed our stay at the Sanctuary House. The open plan was great for our 3 toddlers to play as the adults visited and cooked together. There was plenty of space for 10 adults without feeling crowded, with the screen porch, front porch, and large basement. We enjoyed making s’mores at the fire pit surrounded with Adirondack chairs and played pickleball on the tennis court. The nearby beaches within a short drive were beautiful and we were delighted to have access to a walkable beach as well. Excursions to pick blueberries and visit the Dutch Village in Holland were fun too. We would love to return next summer!
A group of ten and 2 dogs, we had plenty of space. We enjoyed the wooded surroundings away from the hustle and bustle, but still close enough to enjoy Saugatuck, South Haven and Holland. We enjoyed bonfires at night in the fire pit area. The kids enjoyed playing on the tennis court. Saw quite a few deer and a couple of wild turkeys. Had a minor plumbing issue that was addressed quickly by property management. Had an enjoyable stay.
Beautiful retreat nestled in the woods. Very clean! Great location near Saugatuck, Douglas and South Haven but away from the crowds.
Sanctuary House - set in magical woods within easy reach of magnificent Lake Michigan - was an ideal setting for a post-Covid reunion of our far-flung extended family. The spacious, bright and airy house was beautifully configured and well equipped for 10 of us to relax and reconnect with great conviviality. We loved the leafy surroundings with hammock, fire pit and appearances by deer and an occasional wild Turkey. The screened-in porch is a dream for dining indoors as if outdoors. The local Lake Michigan beach is a pleasant 12-minute walk away, and we revelled in pre-breakfast and sunset swims. Also within easy reach by car are sweeping, sandy expanses at Saugatuck, South Haven and the local county beach. We’re grateful to the owners for creating and sharing such a delightful haven, and to the property managers for their efficiency and responsiveness. Hope to do it all again soon!
This was exactly what we were looking for, namely a quiet, out of the way retreat that allowed pets and located within a three hour drive of our home. We very much enjoyed seeing some deer on and around the property and spending time reading and listening to wildlife (particularly enjoyed the exchange between a Barred and Eastern Screech Owl late one night) in the screened-in porch. The location was nicely situated to allow for easy excursions to local wineries, Saugatuck and Holland and we found a nice quiet beach nearby (access through West Side Park) where we enjoyed a chilly swim and multiple beautiful sunsets over the lake. The management company was very responsive in responding to a trash issue we encountered and proactive in repairing some screen damage they noticed prior to our arrival.
This was the perfect sanctuary for our Labor Day vacation. The location as very near to everything we wanted - beaches, breweries, food, and a short drive to towns like Saugatuck, South Haven and Holland for some family fun. We would highly recommend this house!
Lovely house and Glenn is a great SW MI destination! Easy drive to South Haven, Saugatuck and Douglas. Cute little breakfast place and a shop right down the street from the house. So you are close to everything yet have to go nowhere if you don't want to. House is professionally managed. Deers roaming in the backyard. Gorgeous backyard, fire pit and well appointed house. The best screened in porch area! Can easily sleep 10. We will be back with a few friends!
We had plenty of room and space inside and out for our group of 7 people. The 1st and 2nd foot Bathrooms and bedrooms were nice. Basement beds are part of open area so do not offer full privacy of others using space for games or tv watching. Kitchen well stocked for cooking and nice bright open space. We really enjoyed the screened in porch too. Plenty of privacy and yard space for our two dogs, and still close proximity to south haven. Lots of wildlife to watch too. Outside shower very convenient post beach trips.
