Stayed Oct 3, 2025I stayed here with my parents and aunt, and we had a wonderful time. The house was cozy, bright, and filled with natural light. The lake views were absolutely stunning, and we loved relaxing on the deck and enjoying the beautiful weather. The host was very responsive and we appreciated the late check out to enjoy the property a bit longer. We all agreed we’d love to return - thank you for such a lovely experience!

Stayed Jul 31, 2025We had a wonderful stay at Rich Haven Cottage! The cottage is full of charm—unique, cozy, and incredibly welcoming. The views of the lake are absolutely stunning, and the space had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. Matt was a fantastic host—super responsive and easy to communicate with.A couple of things to keep in mind: the road between the cottage and the lake can get busy on weekends, so it’s good to stay alert if you have little ones with you. The water is crystal clear and beautiful, but it’s on the shallow side near the dock—water shoes help make the most of it. The upstairs loft bedroom is cozy and private but has no windows, so it can get a bit warm compared to the rest of the cottage, which has great airflow and lovely natural light. All in all, a great experience and we’d absolutely recommend it to others looking for a peaceful cottage escape!

Stayed Jun 14, 2025The place was in a perfect spot. we enjoyed the views of the water from the kitchen in the mornings and the dock across the street. Water was very drinkable. Only thing that was a bit of a hassle was the main TV was in the one bedroom which made it a challenge when we all wanted to view it sitting on kitchen chairs was not too comfortable. Would have been nice to have a TV in the main room with the fireplace. The one in the loft is great for children since they are shorter and wont hit their heads as many times as I did going up and down.LOL. could use some newer couches, little worn out,, Internet was slow when you have 4 other people on their phones and tablets. But overall the place was GREAT! If you have a mobility issue with walking, it is a bit of stairwalk or uphill walk gettin into it.

Stayed May 23, 2025This is a unique cottage, large and fun to explore, with lots of artwork, pottery and an amazing international collection of books and artifacts around each new corner, of which there were many, and a baby grand piano to top it all. Remembering the location of light switches was a bit of a challenge, as they were in unusual places. But it all added to the charm..

Stayed May 16, 2025We enjoyed a relaxing weekend on Colpoys Bay, where we watched cormorants , loons and mallard ducks bobbing and diving in the water. We watched the sunrise on the beautiful deck. We were located near the Bruce Trail so we could hike. We went into charming Wiarton and had lovely espresso coffee. We had a wonderful girls weekend.

Stayed Nov 1, 2024The rich-haven country house was even better than the photos. It’s a lovely home with so much character. Very cozy despite being large enough to fit four bedrooms. It was especially nice to be able to enjoy the fireplace at night as the weather outside was chilly. The home has everything thoughtfully labeled and everything that we needed to have a smooth and easy stay was provided. Matt was an exceptional host with wonderful communication and was always available to assist as needed. We would happily stay here again :)

Stayed Aug 23, 2024This is a real cottage with all the quirks and personalized decor elements you can expect from a real summer home. It's very spacious -- there are 4 (!) areas for visiting on the inside alone, plus lovely outside spaces, especially the front yard overlooking the water and the nice little dock across the road. It's very well equipped for cooking and baking, and there are books, music, and games around. We were just four adults but this would be a great place for an extended family or multi-family holiday. We had a lovely stay and would definitely return!

Stayed Aug 30, 2024Our stay was spectacular. The view is one that I would be happy waking up to for the rest of my life! The home had an ecclectic mix of decor, but definitely the first time we've stayed somewhere with a grand piano. Relaxing on the dock while the waves lapped against the shore around us was exactly what we needed. The home also made a great base camp for exploring the Bruce peninsula. If you are adventurous and up for it, check out the Malcolm Bluff trail. The views of the bay were absolutely stunning. Matt was very communicative and great as a host. He and his family have an amazing place that we will definitely be a place we will reminisce about.

Stayed Aug 19, 2024The kids loved playing at the dock just across the road from the cottage. The water was beautiful and clear and shallow enough for wading and exploration but still deep enough to be able to swim (it is rocky but not too bad in bare feet, but saddles/water shoes are a good idea). The cottage has a stunning view of the lake, lots of space with a number of beds, and the bathroom is equipped with a jacuzzi style tub which was lovley (not a hot tub, VRBO had it mistagged). Matt was very responsive and available the whole trip. Overall we had a nice peacefull vacation and the kids had a blast, its a great spot to hangout or make your base for more adventures.

Stayed Jul 1, 2024We wanted to visit Tobermory. We decided to rent this cottage, because of its location. About one hour drive to Tobermory and 20 min to Sauble Beach. Good location close to town. Bakery nearby approx 5 min. The cottage is nice, sits on a hill overlooking Colpoy’s Bay. The water is clear, rocky and shallow. The cottage faces out to the bay, so you have to cross a road to get to the dock. It’s a steep access to the cottage, if you have mobility issues. Park on the flat parts of the property, if you park on the hill you could get stuck. Water is clear, shallow, and rocky. Would have liked to have a ladder at the dock to get in and out of the water easily. We went Canada Day and saw fireworks across the bay from the cottage dock! Three bedrooms, beds are comfortable, two bathrooms are on the main floor. There’s a washer and dryer available. Has lots of interesting books, artifacts from around the world throughout the cottage. We enjoyed playing the grand piano. The loft is nice has a few beds, look out for your head hitting the ceiling though. There’s one TV in the loft and one in the huge master bedroom. There’s a long bridge not far from the cottage. You can fish and swim there. The water starts out rocky but then becomes sandy and shallow. We tried fishing but nothing. The cottage has a mix of that woodsy feel and people around you. Enjoyed the fire pit area with bbq, and has a picnic table. Kitchen is well equipped.
