About the home

“The Pink House” is a delightful double-storey family home in Ventnor right on the beachfront, and just a short drive from the supermarkets, restaurants & cafés of Cowes. Some of the many features of this lovely home are detailed below:

Indoor Areas

Downstairs is the open plan kitchen/dining/living room, bedrooms 2 and 3 (each with a wardrobe) the main bathroom (with a shower and basin) plus a separate toilet and a laundry. Upstairs is the second living room (with smart tv and Coonara wood heater) that provides access out to the large first floor deck with uninterrupted water views. Also on this level is a kitchenette with a sink and bar fridge, the master bedroom with its own views, a walk-in robe and ensuite with shower and toilet.

Outdoor Areas

The rear covered patio provides seating for six, and a gas BBQ, and overlooks the rear enclosed yard (please note: one fence is a low wire fence) which is perfect for families and has a hot/cold water outdoor shower. The upstairs deck has incredible water views, an umbrella and seating for another six people. There is direct access from the back yard through the public commons and onto a path to the beach.

There is wheelchair access to the rear of the ground floor of the home via a ramp.

Kitchen

The fully appointed kitchen is equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, microwave, toaster, Aldi pod coffee machine, kettle, etc. plus a double sink, fridge, dishwasher, electric oven and induction cook top. There is a kitchenette in the upstairs living room with tea/coffee facilities, some crockery & cutlery, a sink, a kettle and a bar fridge.

Heating/Cooling Systems

There are two wall mounted reverse cycle air conditioners: one in the upstairs living room, and the other in bedroom 1 upstairs. There are also ceiling fans in bedroom 1 and the upstairs living room. There are two mobile heaters in the downstairs open plan dining/living room, plus one heater and one fan in each of the two bedrooms and some spare heaters under the stairs. There is also an Coonara-style wood heater in the upstairs living room.

Bedding Configuration

This home has 7 beds, plus 1 sofa bed, accommodating up to 12 guests:

Bedroom 1 (Upstairs): One Queen bed
Bedroom 2 (Downstairs): Two sets of Single Bunks
Bedroom 3 (Downstairs): One Double bed bunk

There is also a Double sofa bed in the downstairs living room, suitable for 2 adults or children.

Please note: The bunk in bedroom 3 is a double bed above another double bed.

Linen

It is common in the region for some linen to be provided for bookings, and some linen to be available as an optional extra. By default, a booking at this home does not include optional linen (top & bottom sheets, bath towels and pillowcases). What is included are doonas (quilts) with covers, pillows without covers, tea towels, hand towels and bathmats. If you would like the optional linen included in your booking, please let us know, including which beds you would like it provided for. The additional cost would be a one-off charge of $30 per bed (some sites add a service fee to these costs) - and we prefer 7 days' notice prior to your arrival to get that arranged.

Peak Periods

Please note that during the peak summer period and other peak times, check in times are set as 3pm unless by prior arrangement. Please also note that if you avail of the optional linen hire over these times, it may involve linen being left out but beds not being made up.

Functions, Celebrations and Schoolies

Please note that the home is not suitable for celebrations, parties, or large events. The home also does not take bookings over Schoolies, irrespective of whether school-leavers are part of the official Schoolies Program. All bookings are subject to approval, pending Guest verification process. Local council restrictions are in place for this property, and compliance is mandatory.

The location is perfect for beach access. Beautiful sunsets and lounging on the upper deck. The house is a bit quirky in that the lounge area is upstairs and the kitchen is downstairs. Yes you can cram 12 people into the property but it would be a disaster. The place is too small for 12 people. If 10 of them were children under 12 that would work. The decor is very dated and tired. The inside is very dark downstairs too because of all the timber and the only small TV is upstairs which has issues with the internet dropping out regularly. The property is fenced and quite safe out the back. The occasional visit from wallabies and rabbits was a bonus. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils but lacked some essential items that you would expect at that price point. A welcome basket with some fresh local produce would have been a nice touch and something I have come to expect at the price point. Two doors down there are two small dogs that are constantly barking which I found disturbed my peace and quiet and tranquility which I came for. The owners seemed happy to let them continue to bark without stopping them. The stove is new and I loved that. The pantry had salt, pepper & sauce. Many places would at least provide enough to put together a basic meal for starters. There is easy ramp access to the beach nearby. Helpful for the elderly or those with mobility issues.Overall I enjoyed my stay but as mentioned the place needs some work to justify the price they are asking for it.

The Pink House is a charming beach holiday house in a beautiful location and we had an enjoyable holiday. The bedroom configuration as described is a bit misleading, the description of two double beds in the second bedroom should actually read ‘two double bunk beds’. The overall cleanliness of the house has room for improvement. The cleaners should have ensured that the bins were emptied and sufficient bin liners provided. Setting aside the negatives, it was an excellent stay on the Island.
