The Peaceful Retreat (5 min from the park entrance w/ Pool!

The Good: - Great front yard with lots of shade. - Super cute kitchen and had the necessities. - Beds were really comfy. And the rooms and house in general had a lot of space. - Great location - Property manager was nice and quick to answer and assist. The Bad: - Did not accurately match what the pictures showed. No tv's in any of the rooms, which is not awful but the pictures shouldn't have shown them. - There wasn't an umbrella at the table by the pool as the picture displayed. - Both grills were filthy. - Dog hair all over the shag carpet in the living/tv room and in the vacuum. The vacuum when trying to use to clean up all the dog hair smelled like dog poop. - The smart lock that you use to get into the front door was jammed and wouldn't open the door consistently. Looks like whoever was at the house just before we arrived may have broken or jammed it. Had to wait a day for a locksmith to come and fix the door. This seems to be a common occurance with reading another review. - The lights in the rooms were wonky. Would randomly turn on and off. When you just one light off in one room, it would turn on in a different room. - Master bedroom was insanely hot in the morning with the sun shining through the non-functional sliding door to the backyard. The fan and AC didn't help. Should definitely invest in tinting. There hasn't

Location, location, location = A+ House is very close to a northern entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. The house is large, 4 bedrooms. Beds and bedding are new, towels are good, ample toilet paper, paper towels. Great potential for a fantastic stay. There are however, several negatives to report. The address listed in vrbo is incorrect. There are two digits transposed which made for some frustration as that address did not exist. After finally finding the house by using a photo, the self check-in lock was not working. A call to the host resolved this issue. The pool which was advertised prominently had no water in it, just a big sand box in the back yard. There is no “welcome book” so figuring out normal stuff was a challenge. For example, it took a bit to get the thermostat working, lights, etc. In addition, I had to wash the silverware before using it. There was no dishwasher soap. There were no bedside lamps in the bedrooms, only overhead lights with fans attached. One of the internal doors got locked and while there is a tool in a box in a kitchen drawer to remedy this, it took an hour to figure this out. The backyard has a firepit, but the cover on it was square instead of round and sharp, and the area was not inviting. At the end of the stay, I am used to following directions about linens, garbage, etc. As I have said, there were no directions. Sigh. This house has great potential, but the host has some work to do to make it top notch. A fabulous visit in park.
