Oceanside, California
"The Palm" provides a great space for families and groups of friends where there is something to keep everyone entertained. The kitchen and living room windows face a spacious yard for lounging & barbecuing against a backdrop of ocean views. The open floor plan allows for the kitchen, living room, and outdoor patio to form a communal space. Flooring, kitchen, windows, and furniture are new. Two bedrooms feature queen beds. The 3rd bedroom has a studio floorplan with small kitchen and enclosed yard, privacy. We rent another 2-BR house next door, great for hosting multi-family gatherings.
A stay at The Palm does not require a car--the beach, restaurants, movie theaters, and shopping are all within walking distance. The beach access at Tyson Park is just across the street, with jungle gyms, showers, food vendors, pier, strand, parks, etc all easily accessible. Behind the house, the tunnel leads directly to the coaster (train) platform that easily takes you to downtown San Diego, airport, Old Town, Balboa Park, etc.
Guests have access to off-street parking, local beach access, washer/dryer, stocked kitchen, and all of our locals recommendations!
We have a keypad code entry so your arrival time is flexible. We live close by and while we prefer to give our guests privacy and stay out of their way, we are always available to help with any concerns that may arise.
The neighborhood is friendly, with passers-by generally consisting of local residents (families, young people) and vacation renters.
You can walk just about anywhere (beach, restaurants, shopping, entertainment) and the nearby train station will take you to destinations throughout San Diego and LA counties.
We've enjoyed many a summer day and bonfire night here at "The Palm" throughout the renovation process. We highly recommend this house to live up to the spirit of vacation with the comforts of home!
We were in the area for a wedding. The Palm served as the home base for all of our family. We took advantage of the outdoor space, proximity to the beach and local restaurants. We ranged in age from 25-90 and enjoyed having two separate units. Fantastic experience!
We had a great family trip at this beach bungalow! There were a few things that could be updated in the house and that is the only reason I'm giving this a 4 out of 5. Everything else was great! Pros: 1)The outside area was awesome and had slight ocean view 2) The hot tub worked great and was very nice 3) The location was excellent, walkable to the beach and shops/restaurants 4) The mini splits were great, we came during a cold week! Cons: 1) The Dishwasher is a little rough, the door slams down and is very heavy 2) The washing machine needs work, we couldn't do laundry while we were in the house, It is so loud it sounds like its going to explode 3) The back shower has some cracking in the wall and I noticed some water running through the cracks which can lead to mold. Overall, I think with some slight updates the place is easily a 5 out of 5. You can hear the train clearly however, we knew that before booking!
Can’t get much closer to the beach than this. Nice little property, great location, very attentive property manager.
This place was perfect for my family and I!! Very clean and perfect location near the beach. Gorgeous sunsets and nice bedroom set up for the family!!
great property!! We loved the front yard, had everthing we needed for a great week at the beach! & pete property manager went above & beyond to make sure our stay was awesome!! Thank you, gina
This was the first of our “siblings vacations”. We were delighted with our home and it’s location! We would definitely consider this property again if we decide to return to the area!
We really enjoyed our stay. The home is exactly as it was described. Excellent rate for the location and amenities
We were in need of an escape from the fire in Northern California and this place was perfect for our needs. It's a cool little beach house nice and close to the beach and a lot of places to eat. The property manager was very helpful if we needed anything but there really wasnt much of anything. Great place and I will definitely stay here again.
Pros: the proximity to the beach is awesome, it's an easy walk to downtown, the pier is close, playgrounds are close and it's convenient to get to the freeway to get to other places in greater SD, they just updated the inside and it was great for a beach cottage, the property manager was awesome and they genuinely seemed like good property managers. Cons: the description understates the proximity to the train - it's literally 20ish feet behind the house, it's loud, and it was a bit scary since our little one constantly wanted to go to the tracks to see the train, no A/C and the fans are insufficient - outside would cool down and we were roasting in the house each night, missing blinds on one of the windows facing the street - we covered it with Aluminum foil for the duration of our stay, generally speaking, it seemed like it was still a work in progress. *aside from the train these are all very solvable and I imagine as they make progress on the house they'll become non-issues.
Had a fantastic time. One block from the beach, 3 blocks from the pier, and everything else was just a short drive. Will be back again.
