Stayed Feb 12, 2026I used VRBO rentals for many years and was always satisfied with my stays. But this time I have experienced something I have never experienced before. We traveled 10 hours to Ocala and few hours before check in, the property owner called me and said that the previous tenant refuses to leave the house! The owner asked me for couple hours to resolve this issue. I agreed.However, she called me back 30 minutes later and said that the tenant was very sick and can’t leave the house! I told her that it is not my problem and if tenant feels so bad, he needs to go to the hospital and if he refuses to do so, she needs to call police and get him removed. She said she will do that, but 30 minutes later i got a text from VRBO that my reservation was canceled! I tried to call the owner, but she didn’t answer the phone anymore. I called VRBO and was connected to a customer service person that didn’t speak good English and she had to use AI to keep communication going. After 20 minutes, I realized that we are not moving any closer to resolve the issue and I requested to speak to a supervisor. After another 30 minutes I finally got a supervisor that spoke great English and was very helpful addressing my problem. He offered to double my refund and told me I can pick whatever hotel I can find in the area. We ended up finding a nice hotel.While I am pleased with how VRBO handled this issue, I strongly recommend them to remove this property from their site and never do business with this owner
