Newquay, Cornwall
Utterly charming from the outset, The Mews began life as a humble cowshed and is now a beautifully converted luxury holiday cottage that sits in a quiet, rural setting on the northern coast of Cornwall. Hidden down a little country lane in the small hamlet of Tresean, this home is an amble away from the golden sands of Holywell Bay and Crantock beach and within a mere ten minute drive of the vibrant town of Newquay.
Set over two floors, the cottage is arranged with its sleeping and bathing on the ground floor and the living / entertainment space upstairs. Comfortable and spacious, both bedrooms feature elegant metal framed beds, crisp white linen and ample storage space, with the modern family bathroom easily accessible to both rooms, and fitted with a large shower cubicle and rainfall shower head.
Upstairs, individual pieces of furniture lend an authentic essence to the living room where a huge sinkable sofa tempts afternoon naps and languid evenings in front of the log burner. The high apex ceiling and overhead windows flood the room with sunlight so that even on wintry days the room feels bright and welcoming.
Open plan indoor/outdoor living combine beautifully where the kitchen and dining area open out on to a fantastic private terrace; the perfect place to enjoy a barbecue or a bottle of bubbly, and a fabulous enclosed garden means more time spent outside, soaking up the Cornish sun or enjoying a breath of fresh, countryside air.
Decorative timber beams and accents of metallic silver create a chic edge to the wonderfully social, contemporary kitchen which is amply equipped for whipping up a few culinary classics, and a large dining table with seating makes the ideal place to exchange the day's anecdotes while enjoying a fabulous meal together.
For those guests travelling with four-legged friends in tow, there are lots of dog-friendly beaches within close proximity of the cottage including Crantock Beach that permits dogs off leads all year round. A variety of cycle routes, walking paths and surrounding villages in the area mean plenty of opportunity for exploring the beautiful landscape.
An EV charger will be installed on 20th April for guest use. The charging facility will be app-based requiring guests to register before use.
It was such a lovely holiday cottage and it was so much bigger inside than I realised it would be. I would recommend that people drive in and reverse out as it is very tight for parking. The owner was amazing and we had a lovely stay here.
we stayed here the first week of October and what a lovely place it is. 1 and a half mile walk down to Holywell bay or porth joke where we saw lots of seals and only an hour down to lands end so perfect location. When we arrived we loved the little touches like milk in the fridge, bread and fudge in the welcome basket. Our dog willow was the most chilled out she’s ever been in a house away from home and we also loved the dog friendly touches like the bed, bowls and enclosed garden. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a lovely stay
We had a lovely family holiday at The Mews. The wetsuits provided were a great benefit, as we wanted our young people to have a go at surfing. The bird feeder was beautiful. It gave us a very comfortable place to stay during our visit to Newquay.
The weather was mixed so even more important to stay in a tasteful, well equipped property. We loved the patio with the lights on, the large comfy sofa, the bright airy feel. The Mews is tucked away but very convenient for Holywell beach and dog walks on Cubert common.
This was our second visit to the Mews and as to last year we had a excellent week with outstanding weather. The property had all we required to make our holiday very relaxing and comfortable. Good walks to Crantock, Polly Joke Bay and Holywell Bay. Look forward to returning again soon.
The property and its location were perfect.
Everything about the cottage was great, beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for more, clean and very well stocked of all the needs for our stay, they have thought of everything. Our dog Hugo really enjoyed his stay too. Definitely recommend.
Loved staying here for a few days. It is a gorgeous property and a superb location. Loved it and will definitely return.
This is a lovely property that has been thoughtfully furnished and fitted out. The kitchen had plenty of pans, glassware, crockery and utensils so self catering was easy. The only thing that could be added would be oven gloves but with covid etc, it might be simply that these are not presently viable. The whole place is airy and flooded with light. The living space is very well designed and there is parking for 2 cars. The local area has lots of appeal, 3 great beaches, farm shop, walks and a good setting off point for bigger attractions like Eden, Camel trail and St Michael's Mount. We loved it at the Mews and are grateful to the owners for sharing there Cornish home with us whilst we were in Cornwall.
Lovely and quite location with easy access to the main roads It’s a little gem .. everything in the property worked how it should ... it’s very clean and comfortable and cozy We would highly recommend this for a break in Cornwall And have a lovely time as we did Our pet dog enjoyed his stay as much as us We will certainly love to come back ..
