Close to downtown about 5 or 6 blocks. Not cleaned well when we got there, but owner was quick to respond. Charming older home.

The house had four nice bedrooms so each of us had a very comfy bed. We were close to main street where all the shops and restaurants were. It was super easy to get access code, and the host answered questions quickly! The house was cute and very clean. It was a good choice for our girls weekend!!

First things first, the house is in a great location if you’re looking to spend any time in downtown St. Charles. It’s just a few blocks walk down to the riverfront, and is incredibly convenient from that aspect. However, the house leaves a lot to be desired and it’s clear the pictures on the listing are old and from when the house had seen much better times. They simply do not reflect the current state of the house. It was dilapidated with peeling paint and evident water damage. The floors were filthy, there was hair in the drains of the showers, and the main trash cans were stuffed full upon arrival. We reached out to the homeowner to figure out when/if we should take the trash to the street without a response, and were lucky that we guessed the right day and location to take them to, otherwise they would have overflowed during the duration of our stay. The house needs a lot of work to be brought up to the level of expectations that the pictures in the listing portrayed. We also tried to reach out regarding check in instructions through the app without a response and had to text the owner to try to figure out when we would be able to get the information that we needed to check-in, which was frustrating as we were traveling and knew our availability before arrival would be spotty. It added another layer of unneeded stress to have to chase them down to understand when we would get the info that we needed while we were on the road. All in all, I would not recommend this house.

Great location and space for our group of friends (and one 12-year-old). The beds were very comfy. As others have said, the shower head upstairs needs an adjustment/replacing. We didn’t realize the upstairs bathroom was in one of the bedrooms as opposed to a hallway, so the second bedroom upstairs had to walk through the main bedroom to access the upstairs bathroom, which may be noted in the listing and we just missed that detail. It worked out just fine for our party but wanted to mention so others are aware. The second bedroom upstairs did have its own kitchenette with a sink, so that was a great feature. We had a great experience and would stay here again!

The house was perfect. It was nice and had comforable beds. The only thing to take note is that the work area showed in the photos is no longer there. But there was still plenty of space to get work done.

Location was ok. We could walk to the Historical St. Charles Street. Chairs were dirty, no large cutting board or other kitchen items needed to help preparing food, upstairs shower awful !! No water pressure too small, all 5 of us had to get ready in

Had a fun Memorial Day weekend and like that the house was close to the historic downtown area. We had plenty of room in the house and the family room was large enough for us all to sit together. Was just what we needed !!

Overall, this is a nice property that seemed clean with comfortable beds and a short drive to the convention center. Bedrooms were equipped with white noise machines, though the noise level wasn't bad. As with probably any property in the neighborhood, the building is a bit older, so expect some squeaky floorboards. There were a few small issues that added up to deducting one star: - Check-in was a bit rough, as the communication on how to get into the house was unclear (apparently need to use back door). The owner didn't respond to a message, so I had to call them to resolve, though they were friendly and helpful on the phone. Sounds like they changed their locks and didn't update their contact template to reflect the new instructions. - Contacted owner about ceiling fan that wasn't working. Text-based messages weren't communicating well, so had to call again. Owner said they'd come take a look at it while we were out and let us know the fix, but they never did, as far as I know. - Bedroom window blinds didn't block light very well at all, so it was hard to sleep past sunrise. No curtains. - Upstairs shower had no soap/shampoo (not a big deal, could use my own).
