Shirley, Arkansas
This lakefront lodge in the Ozarks is on Greers Ferry Lake. Nature abounds on 7 acres of secluded wooded property. The inside of the home is wall to ceiling wood. The original owners owned a lumber mill and it is beautiful. There is a large covered porch on the lakeside of the home that you will want to spend time rocking and watching the birds, deer and squirrels. Fish are jumping all around the property in the Lake. Its a perfect place for families and fishermen.
I don’t write many reviews but I felt that this property deserved one. It is definitely under-advertised! It was such a great place for a large family to stay. We had kids of all ages and there was something for everyone! The teenagers had the large game and bunk room, with Smart TV and games, with plenty of sleeping arrangements. The yard is HUGE and has a nice fenced in area off of the large back porch that was my favorite part! We could drink coffee in the rocking chairs or grill on the porch without worrying about the toddler running down to the water or into the woods. The living spaces were very large also and everyone felt like they had their own space. Owners were quick to respond with any questions. The kitchen was very well stocked. Great property!
Positives: - Great location on a beautiful Arkansas lake. - Great fishing - plenty of room in a beautiful house. Tried to get more people to come, they missed out. - Wildlife viewing was superb. We live in the Davy Crockett national Forrest and I’m kind of jealous. - Boat ramp just a block away. - private secluded protected dock. - Large we’ll kept yard. - Quiet neighbor hood. - If your looking for a great place to get away from it all with all the convenience’s of great outdoor activities, this is the place. - Oh yeah, save all your leftovers for Ruby. She’s the local mild mannered blue tick, she’ll come by and check on things from time to time. Negatives: - Ever stay in a hotel where there’s not enough lighting or trash cans? This is one of them. - The amenities are under advertised. Didn’t know about the dock or the boat ramp prior to our trip. - found clothing in the couch from previous visitors - just about every pot and pan had dried food on it. There was not enough cookware if you have a large party especially with teenagers to feed. - Could not find a broom anywhere. - cameras where every where, made me feel like I was being spied on. Probably game cameras. - the dock had no electricity to charge trolling motor batteries. - My wife has mild mobility disabilities and the terrain leading to the dock was a little challenging for her. - On the last night there the plumbing backed up in the master bathroom. I suspect the septic should system may have been overwhelmed with showers and laundering. I sure that’s been taken care of. Summary: All things given, we really enjoyed our stay and made the most out of it. Great value. The negatives were greatly overweighted by the beauty and serenity of the place. So much to do we didn’t get it all accomplished. We will definitely consider staying here again.
What a beautiful home and scenery. It is perfect for late night porch conversations. Plenty of room for all and the beds are more comfortable than at my own home. Road was a little curvy coming in :) Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Our family needed to heal from the loss of a member in early Feb. of this year. This was the perfect place for that to happen. We all enjoyed the outdoor space and was able to get out on the deck and play some guitar and sign. What a great time we all had.
Stay was amazing, views were gorgeous and def looking forward to going back!
