My mother was in the hospital nearby, and this home became a safe, comfortable place to rest in between visits. From start to finish, everyone I spoke to went above and beyond to make our stay welcoming, comforting, and peaceful. They consistently asked about my mother’s well-being and took care of every detail so we didn’t have to worry about anything outside of the hospital. We had a small issue with the air conditioning, but the owners responded immediately and resolved it without hesitation. Their sincerity and care were evident in every interaction. The level of customer service was exceptional — it truly felt like we were staying with friends rather than renting a house. The home itself is beautiful, relaxing, and full of fun touches. When more family came to visit for a day, everyone commented on how lovely and inviting it was. The location was ideal, just minutes from the hospital, which made an emotionally difficult time a little bit easier.Thank you so much for your kindness and compassion during our stay. This home gave our family a peaceful place to recharge while caring for my mom, and we are so grateful.

We came to Bham for my husband’s Masters graduation at UAB and found your stunning home to be in the perfect location. Such a beautiful part of the city and yet so close to campus. We had so much room to spread out, every nook and cranny was comfortable and cozy, and your attention to detail before arrival and during our stay made us feel appreciated and welcome. This is by far one of the nicest, most interesting and eclectic homes our family has ever had the pleasure of staying in!

The house was exactly as described. It was close to everything we wanted to see. It was very clean and spacious for a large group. Communication with the host was easy, and we got quick responses to our questions. I would recommend this house to anyone visiting Birmingham.

First off let me state that we would stay in this property again and really enjoyed it. Like everything in life there are ways to make things even better. Positives - 1. bedroom set-up. Creates good sleeping space and variety. Master down is good for elderly. Two upstairs bedrooms can sleep parents with a child or multiple people in a room.2. Kitchen and dining area was very functional. Back deck with bbq tied to kitchen made use of that space beneficial. Bar glasses and all cooking items were well stocked. 3. Two separate family rooms - one upstairs creates space for kids or different friends/family members to congregate without all having to be in one space4. Back upstairs screen porch was a super nice surprise that isn’t nearly showcased enough in the listing. Really enjoyed that space during afternoon rain showers. Opportunities1. This is a historic older house that is well maintained but the water pressure is a challenge. Tough to use two showers at a time or use multiple water items like sinks, toilets, dishwasher, or clothes washer simultaneously. The water pressure just isn’t there for that. One at a time yes, two is marginal at best. A worthwhile upgrade would be to add a pressure surge tank to the incoming water supply. 2. The backyard is really nice to look at but when it rains it floods and becomes muddy/unusable but that’s a bit of how it goes as you can’t control the weather but a path to the fire pit and patio wouldBe a nice improvement.

Extended family of Auburn/LSU fans in town for the SEC Championship. Easy to get to the Hoover Met and plenty of space for us to unwind and catch up after several long days of baseball. Loved coffee on the front porch. Close to a number of restaurants in the UAB area. We felt well taken care of with snacks, coffee, and essentials. If we go back next year will definitely try to book house again.

We had 9 people staying at Glen Iris Getaway and 4 others gathered with us, for a total of 13. Glen Iris Getaway was the perfect place for our family. The accommodations exceeded our expectations! The home was charming, roomy, and beautifully decorated. The amenities were abundant; towels, washcloths, extra blankets, coffee, creamer, toilet paper, etc. We cooked in the home and found the kitchen well stocked. We brought our own board games to play, but found that Glen Iris already had some, along with books to read. The dining area was large enough for all of us to sit together for meals, games, and conversation. The weather was nice enough to relax on the front porch and screen porch upstairs. If the nights were a little warmer, my son would have loved to sleep on the swing bed on the screen porch. We spent as much time as possible enjoying this home and will definitely stay here again and recommend it to everyone.

This beautiful, charming and spacious home was the perfect place for our family to stay in the Birmingham area. The bedrooms were large and had comfortable beds and bedding. The kitchen was well equipped with what we needed to cook and bake in the large gas oven. The dining room table had ample room for us to enjoy meals together with comfortable seating. There was plenty of room to gather in the living room on the main floor and another sitting room upstairs. Our hosts communicated quickly when we had a question and were one of the kindest we have spoken with over the years. We will definitely stay again for another family gathering when in the area. Mark and Sarah, Thank You!
