The Dunes House at Chesterman Beach, Tofino B.C.

Needs upgrades but overall good location and stay!

Love the property , some things on it though have been neglected. Hottub , some rusting, etc, just needs a little tlc.

Great location and house design. Spacious and quiet. Loved walking to beach. Great deck but furniture needs replacing, Maybe paint the baseboard heaters. Needed instructions to operate TV, no sound. Overall loved our stay.

We were very excited to find a VRBO that offered two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus large kitchen and options to enjoy company and games. The price was much higher than most, but we thought it would be worth it for comfort and space for two couples.Upon arrival, we noticed right away that the kitchen counter tops were very very sticky. After we thoroughly cleaned them ourselves, we realized that the wood finish has not been done correctly for 'kitchen use'. Dishes, hot plates, pots, cups...literally everything was sticking to the counters. And that was not the end of the uncleanliness of the place. The following is a list of our disappointments;Due to the stickiness of the kitchen countertops, the stains do not come out eitherOven door must be held closed for the oven to operateWine fridge does not work at allUpper bathroom tub does not drain wellLighter for the BBQ does not workBBQ spark starter, does not workSliding glass door foot lock does not line upThe coffee steamer wand was filthy, so we did not use itOther areas that were of concern as a user include;It would have been nice to have a light over the table for game playing; a ceramic tea pot (not a metal one), information on how to run each of the appliances and the heating system; additional blankets and pillows in each bedroom; wall hangers and bedside table in 2nd bedroom. The whole place could really use a paint job. The door jams and electric heating in bathrooms are particularly bad.

Great stay. Plenty of space, great location - walk to the beach, close to Tofino with great restaurants, brewery, coffee shops, grocery/market. Close to many great hikes/walks in the woods/along the coast.

Great location. Easy walk to Chesterman beach. Kitchen was well stocked and easy to use.

Space ideal for 4 adults and 2 children. Some things a bit challenging like front door lock and oven staying on (door an issue) , lots of variety of kitchen gadgets. Great location.

A hidden gem in a very quiet area. A nestled hot tub in the trees in a private backyard. Large kitchen for cooking and well appointed rooms. Would come back again!

We loved the amazing location of this property, it’s truly what makes the stay worthwhile. The home has a lot of potential and could be really special with some thoughtful updates. That said, it felt a bit run down in certain areas and would benefit from improvements like upgraded beds (king size would be great), more bathroom counter space, fresh linens, and better amenities.Cleanliness could be improved as well. We found only a small amount of a sticky cleaning product for the counters, which already felt unclean, and the coffee machine still had dried milk residue on the foam wand. A fresh coat of paint and a general revamp would go a long way in enhancing the overall experience.The kids’ play area also had tall, uncut grass it looked like it had been completely forgotten, which was disappointing since we were hoping the kids could enjoy that space.Overall, you’re definitely paying for the location, not the quality of the home itself. With a few upgrades, this place could be a real gem.

Fantastic garden and close to the beach. This was our second visit here and would love to return.

It was well stocked so that we could make all our meals in the kitchen, the hot tub water was heated and the BBQ worked perfectly. Additionally, it was in a nice location thst was quiet and peaceful.Initially, the dryer tripped off prematurely but the manager quickly responded to the issue.

We had a great stay , so relaxing! Loved the hot tub and space!

This was our second stay at this property . We rented this house about 8 years ago and loved everything about it. the property is close to the beach, coffee shop and the new bike trail. However, we could not help but notice that it is in need of some TLC and looking pretty worn. It would also be nice to have screens on the windows and some outdoor seating that is comfortable. I would still recommend it to others as the benefits out weighed the negatives.

Property was in a great location a short walk to north Chesterman beach.

Easy walk to beach, quick drive into Tofino, house is light and airy, perfect for a long or short stay. We were out and about day and night so didn't really utilize all the features provided. Will do so next time!

The property is tucked into its own little forest so it feels very private. Roomy, bright, very clean and has all the amenities including a wine fridge and a nice espresso machine. Very comfy beds, and lots of games in the living room. Perfect for the 6 of us. Highly recommend The Dunes for your stay in Tofino!
