The view of the lake was spectacular! The sunroom was inviting and relaxing. Sleeping for 12 people was possible, but if your group is all adults, check this aspect out carefully. Leasing agency was very prompt in responding to our concerns and needs.

The house is spacious and has some lovely updates, while also keeping a lot of historic charm. The view of Lake Michigan is phenomenal. Chicago is even visible on a clear day. Very easy to walk down to the beach or get to hiking trails through the woods.

The property is well maintains, true to the photos and fantastic views in all directions. We were only a little disappointed that during our stay the pinball machines did not work (we had kids with us) and the steam shower didn’t function, but it did not keep us from having a great time. If these are not functional, they should be removed from the description as it is misleading. Still, we highly recommend this spot to friends and family...absolutely great place...and historic!

The views of Lake Michigan were amazing and had just a short walk down to the beach. The movie theatre room was fun after dark as well as using the large metal wood burning fire pit. The gas was out in the gas burning fire pit. Glad we could still have a fire. The beds were comfy and the kitchen well stocked. Loved all the bathrooms as well. Would love to come back next year during a warmer month to swim in the lake. Thank you DNR for renting this place to us!

The Cabin was super clean with everything we needed - from linens to beach towels, to a fully equipped kitchen. We had a party of ten people and the house was large enough for privacy when desired, but had lots of common gathering spots. Couldn't have asked for a better spot for our family reunion.

Reviewer Comments: Our group had a fabulous stay at this beautifully renovated and well decorated historical cabin retreat!Whether we were sitting inside the warm and cozy sun room area sipping our morning coffee or sitting outside by the fire pit area with our wine, the views of the lake were magnificent! The grounds surrounding this very spacious cabin home are well kept and provide fun experiences from horseshoe games to just sitting peacefully in the tree chair swing enjoying the views. The Weber bbq grill was clean and big enough to allow us to cook an entire dinner for our group. We were just steps away from the beautiful beach and lakefront. Inside, there is a lower level that we enjoyed in the evenings. For starters, the movie theatre was amazing! We sat in comfortable movie theatre seats while watching our favorite movies. We also had fun playing the spectacular arcade games provided. Fun was had by all! There was even a huge wine cellar with a wine bottle ready for us to open! This historical cabin is very clean and roomy. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen had plenty of space to work in and was well stocked with the essentials. When we had a few questions, the staff was just a phone call away and were very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this unique and very special experience to anyone who wants a close by get away from the Chicago area and craves some quality family time and natural beauty.

It is my dream cabin which made it fun to spend time with family and a few friends. Loved steam shower and jacuzzi tubs, access to beach, fire pit and saddle barstools. Could not figure out movie room projector but was able to use tv outside of movie room. Thank you for a great memory!❤️

Certainly not a place I’d like to see a lot of kids, but if you like historical properties with modern comfort this is a must. Beautiful views of the lake, mostly nestled away for privacy, and great sunrises and sunsets.
