The Country Life Experience, Close to Distilleries, Wineries, and Wedding Venues

Very nice place to stay, especially with a bunch of folks. Bedrooms are separated and the central areas are very nice. Hosts are helpful!

Warning: be very specific as to what part of the property you want to rent. You can rent any part(s) of 3 areas: the Main House, north half of bunkhouse, and south half of bunkhouse. I thought I had rented the main house and entire bunkhouse, but the default is one half of the bunkhouse. Fortunately the other parts of the property were still available when I discovered my error and our host was graciously able to revise the rental to include the whole place at a bit of a discount.Pros:- Location: excellent, near everything - Solitude and scenery: so nice to watch the morning clouds and the birds from the back patio - Pool: beautiful and so private, surrounded by luscious Zoysia grass- Lots of room to spread out in the house, dining table could accommodate 10 guests- Well provisioned kitchen- Good communication with ownerCons:- Low water pressure and lukewarm water in the bunkhouse- Low pressure at 1 main house sink and shower- Unable to adjust main house thermostat, contacted owner who lowered it remotely using an app- Main house and bunkhouse bedrooms were hot, so used fans that were provided- Not very clean but then again, no cleaning fee is charged - No way to turn off outdoor security light that shines into 1 bedroom Summary: The rooms are hot, some plumbing problems make showers difficult, and no housecleaning by host. However this property is in an excellent location, can accommodate a large group, and has an absolutely beautiful pool area!!

The property is old, things were not well taken care of, and the there was persistent being from the closed off part of the house that made it hard to sleep.The main house was said to be for seven or more people, however it has three small beds and a pull out couch in the living room. The living room didn’t have blinds or bedding for that bed. It can at most fit 3 people comfortably. The best part was the pool.

The property suited the needs of our group very well. Pool was nice. Everything was as advertised.

Alexander House is spacious and pool is extra nice. We enjoyed our stay and property is close to lots of amenities. Property could use a deep cleaning.

Check in was done perfectly. We found several areas of concern and reported to Jeff, property mgr, and no real action. Called Lisa and she said it was really hard to get in touch with him. This was constant for the first couple days until a surprise visit from his handyman showed up and fixed issues. Plus a surprise visit from somebody looking at the property was another shocker to my wife. Then I got eviction notice cause there were floaties in the pool and messy rooms; this was the middle of our stay. Jeff was reluctant to talk to me, but just sent texts.I repeatedly asked him to call/talk to me.We liked lhe location, close to FredricksburgHate to totally dis the place since it isn't bad; but not up to normal standards I've had with other VRBO locations.Check out for us was completed leaving the location cleaner than when we arrived.

Good messaging with Host. We a great house! The house is dated but the beds are great. The kitchen is decent size. We LOVED THIS PLACE! All the rooms are great, perfect outdoor area. The pool is great ! This place is close to wineries and grocery stores. The views are amazing, We had no issues with the house, bunkhouse, and the pool. Definitely recommend staying here! This home would be a great place for family reunions, group getaways, We will most likely stay here again.

First let me say that the place was immaculate and the pool was fantastic. Our group of nine family members (3 generations) had a great two nights and all slept very well. That said, we do have a few comments. First, the house is definetly not new with a lot of uneven floors, steps without hand rails and slippery bath tubs with no handholds. Second, the website could use a major rewrite with better corrected information and instructions. For the price, it surely was not glamorous and we had to pay over 200 for three little dogs. Not to mention the construction going on on two sides of the plot the VRBO was on. Are they building a winery and removing all the dead oak wilt trees? I guess it might end up being OK if that is what they are doing but if not, I'm not sure I would recommend Alexander's Inn especially if you are a senior citizen. Otherwise, enjoy the pool!

We hunt annually in the area and this was the perfect property for our group. Lots of space inside and out, deer crossing in the back and the most beautiful sunrise coming through the back windows. We are looking forward to next year!

This is the second year my wife, son, and his girlfriend spent Christmas in the Hill Country. The Country Life experience was a perfect location. Comfortable property. Jeff and Alexa are excellent hosts.

Definitely recommend, very spaced out and great location.

Great location for wineries around Johnson City and Fredericksburg. The accommodations were very roomy for an extended family trip. The house is dated but very clean! The pool was nice but not of use to us in Nov and outside lighting lit up the grounds at the back of the house.

The stay was great. It was quiet and secluded. Amenities were in great shape and was in a great location. The only issues I had were that the A/C settings on the thermostat would not go under 74 degrees so the house would get a little warm at times. Also, there was a constant beeping coming from the garage heard throughout the house and especially in the bedroom by the garage. No one could sleep in that room because of the beeping. There was no access to the garage to try and stop the beeping.

Place was a great size and loved the pool. Close to all the wineries we love.

We had 10 women stay the whole weekend at the house. The house was warm all weekend but that was just because it was late August in Texas. There’s no real way around that. I would recommend this place 8 days a week except for late summer. But if you aren’t there the whole time then it’s probably not as bad. And even with it being warm it was still very doable and we still had the absolute best time! We had plenty of space for everyone and the pool was great. Jeff and Alexis were incredible and were very quick to respond to ALL of my questions.

The main house was very clean and well stocked. The back room with the large fan stays very warm even with the fan on so it is was a hard sleep for me personally. Pool was clean, lots of places to sit outside. House is right off the highway and less than 10 mins from Johnson City.
