"The Cottage" at Gold River Camp is a full-service, modern campground cabin that will allow you to take advantage of outdoor adventures while enjoying the luxuries of a cabin. A former Gold & Gem Panning operation on the Second Broad River, this little slice of paradise was once a part of the United States' first gold rush, in one of the most bustling regions in the early 1800s. The grounds include plenty of fire pits, a river front beach, pavilion and community gas and propane grills
This boho one-bedroom cottage is everything you need for a family getaway. There is a full sized living room with a futon and roll-away bed, a private bedroom and a full-service kitchen with gas stove and small breakfast table. There is little (to NO) cell service and no wifi so plan accordingly by downloading your favorite shows or podcasts on a tablet, or better yet, plan to have an off-screen getaway, you'll be thankful you did! No TVs on the property.
The futon is full sized, will fit two children comfortably, two small adults, or there is a roll-away cot in the closet that can be used as well.
Other things to note
No wifi and cell service is virtually non-existent (T-Mobile is the only provider that seems to get service) - we hope you will enjoy an off-screen weekend. we recommend you plan to bring shows or podcasts downloaded on a tablet or computer.
We rent tubes for the river...they are $8 for a single tube for one day or $15 for a double - ask us to send you a special offer.
Note: the river is shallow, these tubes are for relaxing and tying to a tree and just wading in a place (you don't float down this river, it's too shallow).
We had 2 families in adjoining cabins, which was awesome - we could cook and eat together, still enjoy each family’s own space. Hiking, eating on the back deck, roasting marshmallows by the fire pit made the whole experience that much more magical. A lovely way to unplug and relax.
