The Betty - Peaceful Athens Retreat Near UGA

Check in and check out were easy. House is in a nice quiet setting with a long driveway for plenty of parking. Neighbor feeds deer daily so you get to see some wildlife which is fun. House has plenty of community space. Bedrooms and beds were very comfortable. Basic cooking items like pots and pans are present. Baking items such as cookie sheets or pyrex are limited ... you should bring your own. Supplies of dishwasher soap, trash bags and TP were limited ... need to also bring some of that if staying more than two days. We would stay there again.

Nice place to stay. Had 5 of us. Plenty of room. Everything as advertised. We would stay here again.

We have stayed at many VRBO properties in the US, including several in Athens, GA. This property and the host/owner have been the only one that we've been disappointed with - extremely. The house had a strong stale/musty/smoky smell throughout, the appliances dilapidated and outdated, and the immediate neighborhood precarious for an elegant property as advertised. This property is far from elegant by any reasonable standards. Based on the inferior arrival circumstances a good faith settlement effort was made to fairly & substantially compensate the host for canceling our scheduled stay at the property but the host was completely uncooperative and belligerent - not even an offer to refund the cleaning fee for non-occupancy. Concerned with becoming sick if we stayed, we vacated the premises within minutes of arrival and stayed at a reputable downtown motel.

Very beautiful house, the yard and butterfly garden were great!

the place was perfect for the six of us. Cozy and clean. The host was very accommodating, and was quick to help when we needed to adjust our departure date. If we are in the area we would definitely stay here again.

Communication was solid, the property was cleaned and big enough for the family. We planned on cooking Christmas dinner son my mother wouldn’t have to bother with the cleanup. One problem, the oven didn’t work. The description said stovetop but didn’t explicitly say “no oven.” When we communicated with the property owner, they said well it wasn’t one of the amenities. We were disappointed and felt misled. The property owner apologized and stated he would list it on the welcome letter. We appreciate the words but our Christmas plans were upended.

Betty is an older home in an established neighborhood that’s well maintained and thoughtfully appointed for guests. It’s secluded enough we were greeted by deer in the backyard but minutes away from plenty of activities.

The property was clean, comfortable and spacious. The neighborhood deer were in the backyard and you could watch them from the deck and sunroom. Overall great place to stay. Will definitely look to book again.
