A unique beach front experience in Anacortes, Washington awaits you!

Located on the shores of Similk Bay outside Anacortes, this home offers the perfect quiet getaway for up to five guests. There’s nothing better in this life than spending time in the early morning hours watching the bay come alive from the sun room in this home. There is beach access from the property and also within a very short walking distance.
Guest access
Use of the entire home is yours for the duration of your stay. The house is on one story with easy access and two separate bedrooms. We’ve supplied the home with high speed WIFI, two televisions with streaming options, and a well equipped kitchen with all the essentials.
Other things to note
SEPTIC - please remember that the systems along this stretch of beach are all individually designed and aren’t built to service large crowds of people over long stretches of time. In particular, please don’t put anything into the system that isn’t toilet paper. This includes napkins, wipes, paper towels, and feminine hygiene products. The last thing any of us want during your stay is an malfunctioning septic system!

WASHER AND DRYER – we offer the use of the washer and dryer by our guests. Please limit use of these appliances to one load per day. Once again this comes down to overuse of the washer in particular being a potential source of stress on our septic system.

BEACH ACCESS AND HIGH BANK – please be careful! In particular the bank in the front yard is steep. In the 68 years our family has been in possession of the property no one has ever tumbled over the bank, but you never know. Especially with little children this is always a concern. If you want to access the beach be aware that once you get down to the bottom of the stairs off the concrete bulkhead there’s not much of a landing area. We attempt to keep the driftwood clear but it is constantly changing configuration. Those with limited mobility wishing to access the beach should do so at the public entrance at the end of the meadow down the street.

ARTWORK – throughout the house you will see framed watercolors. All of these are original artwork done by the host and are offered for sale. Your host is a long-standing collected artist who has pieces in private collections all over the world. If you are interested in purchasing please let the us know.

TELEVISION – both TVs are “Roku” devices which support virtually all of the major streaming services. Please be advised that we don’t provide subscriptions for our guests to use. If a particular service is already logged in, feel free to use it. Otherwise you will have to log in using your own account.

KITCHEN – we try to make sure that whatever is in the refrigerator (condiments, drinks etc) is current. Please feel free to consume whatever is on hand. It is also okay to leave extras behind. We especially appreciate any unopened bottles of wine, beer and/or hard seltzer that you can’t find room for in your vehicle. Any open bottles of hard liquor are also greatly appreciated.

LINENS – we put bath towels, hand towels and washcloths out for the number of guests we are expecting. Sheets and pillowcases on all the beds are fresh.

THANKS FOR COMING TO STAY! This property has been in our family since 1955. The host grew up in this neighborhood and went to the local schools here. Father passed away in the early 1980s and mother stayed on here until she passed away in 2017. It is a privilege to have you as our guests and to share this little slice of beauty and wonder with you!

Great retreat off the beaten path. About equal drive time to Anacortes, LaConner or Deception Pass/Oak Harbor. Great sunroom to watch the eagles, gulls and herons on the mud flats.

This is the perfect little cabin! Very cozy and homey. It’s right on the beach with an incredible view and only a 10 minute drive into town. Will definitely be back!

We had a great visit to Anacortes and the house worked very well for us, two elder adult friends. The views of the bay from the two rooms that overlook it are beautiful. The kitchen was well equipped and the owner/host, John, was available when we had questions and easy to work with. I’d definitely recommend it unless you want to be walking distance to downtown Anacortes or want a place recently modernized.

Incredible waterfront sun room. Comfy reading chair and couches. Had everything we needed including beach towels. Great location in between Anacortes and LaConner. Definitely a cabin more than a ritzy place, but worked out great.

Nice little house. Driveway is terrible, definitely not made for a large SUV. Your doors will get scratched from overgrown bushes. House had everything we needed, nice to have beachfront access.

The location was amazing. There were 4 of us. Plenty of room. Kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. Towel racks in the bathroom near the bedroom with two beds would be good. Another railing on the steps down to the window seats would be a good addition. A couple more outdoor chairs would be nice addition.I'd stay there again. Nice neighborhood, great place to walk. View from sitting room window is priceless.

Communication with John was easy from beginning to end. While the house might be a bit dated, it's clean, comfortable, in a fairly convenient location and of course the view out to the Similk bay is 1000% worth it. We spent a full work week partially remote working and partially exploring Anacortes and the San Juans island region. Major thanks to John who when I asked him about the coffee making situation told me what was there but asked me what I'd prefer. I just happened to send him a picture of the Bialetti Moka pot and he had it dropped to the house from Amazon before we arrived! So if you're a bit of a coffee nerd and you know how to use the very simple but effective Italian style moka pot, there's one in the kitchen now!! The house had lots of clean white towels, pillows to choose from and comfortable beds. Kitchen had a lot dry goods, herbs, oil etc. So we bought groceries and had breakfast and lunch at the house each day. Well worth the visit.

Pictures do not die this cottage justice! It is in a safe lovely beachside location, and is in a bluff overlooking the inlet. Private beach access via a staircase. Quiet neighborhood, clean cottage, landscaped yard, HOT water, more than enough linens, comfortable beds and lots of newer pillows. The view of the water is phenomenal. Relaxing place to stay. Hosts were very quick to respond and accommodating. We would love to return if we go back that way!

Absolutely loved staying here and would stay again! The view of the water is so calming- we looked for wildlife and saw a crane eating. We read in the nook overlooking the water. We walked along the beach. The place has pictures of the parents who had owned the home and gives it a sweet feel. Highly recommend!

We were beyond happy with our stay! This is not a new property, by any means, but it is well taken care of and has the most welcoming, comforting vibe! One appreciates the updates, while maintaining the original home. We stayed for a week, taking advantage of the unlimited outdoor activities of the area. But it was always our pleasure to return to our window on the bay for rest! The neighborhood was so quiet allowing us to enjoy the sounds of the birds. We would be more than happy to book again!

Us 3 female seniors enjoyed our 1 night getaway and the place had all that we needed. View is awesome! Minor, but would recommend that cleaning service not use any scented laundry detergent or dryer sheets as one friend slept poorly because of the scent on the sheets.

I will definitely stay here again, if he will have me! I feel like I was one of those high maintenance guests where first I wanted one date, and then I wanted a different date and then I asked for early checkin, and then I didn’t have my check-in information and so on, but he was always quick to respond, accommodating and gracious! You know how it is when you try to plan a vacation while you’re doing 1000 things at home at the same time. Anyway, the home is comfortable and had everything we needed. Even though we were out and about paddle-boarding, hiking, shopping the farmers market and downtown Anacortes, this is also a place where I would come with just a book and no plans at all. Peaceful with show stopping views, great location and super comfy!

Our family was looking for a new area to go for one final summer vacation of this season, and I ran across this property just south of Anacortes, WA. Staying here was even more than expected. The property is right on the shore of Similk Bay, which not only provide an awesome view from the living area, but it also gave us great beachcombing during low tide, which caused the water to pull way back, exposing a large area to explore. The property provided us everything we needed, including a full kitchen, two bathrooms, and all the towels we needed. It's only a few minutes away from Anacortes, Deception Pass, Rosario Beach, and various trail heads to start a hiking adventure. We really appreciated the opportunity to stay here, and we'll definitely come back soon!
