Nestled just steps from the Acadia Gateway Center, our recently updated cottage offers a peaceful retreat just a few minutes off Mount Desert Island. Fire up the grill, indulge in fresh lobster feasts, and create unforgettable moments with loved ones. With easy access to Island Explorer shuttles and nearby trails, exploring Acadia National Park is a breeze. Pack your bikes, hiking boots, and appetite, and let Maine's wonders unfold before you!

We allow up to two pets for an additionalfee (see house rules). No cats. additional $20 per/night pet fee. Furniture must remain covered and pets are not allowed on the beds, unless you bring your own linens.

The Space
The home features a master bedroom upstairs with a large balcony and an additional bedroom downstairs. There is also a very comfortable queen-sized sleeper sofa in the front sitting room for additional guests (up to six total).
The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you should need for your stay, from a lobster pot to a crockpot. There is a great outdoor area to enjoy meals, grill, let your pups run, or have a campfire after a long day of hiking.

Guest Access
The whole house is yours except for the upstairs closet.

Other Things to Note
Both TVs are smart TVs and allow you to stream using your own accounts (Netflix, HBO Now, Spectrum, etc.). We have high-speed WiFi, and the password is written on the check-in sheet inside the home. There should be no issues working remotely from the house if needed.

The water is safe to drink but does have a slight sulfur smell. If this bothers you, you may want to bring bottled water. Please note that the hot and cold water are reversed in the bathroom sink and shower.

We allow dogs at this property and take the utmost care to clean thoroughly between stays, including removing pet hair. However, occasional stray hairs may be left behind. If there are ever any issues, please reach out to me.

The upstairs bedroom does not have a door. However, it is still very private — you cannot see into the space until you are fully up the stairs. The master bedroom is the only room on the upper floor.

Neighborhood overview:
Trenton sits between Mount Desert Island and Ellsworth. It allows for quick and easy access the Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park (15 minutes or so), or the other adorable towns scattered along the island. Ellsworth is also close by which offers larger box stores if needed during your stay. Both are filled with great restaurants and cafes!

The Acadian Gateway House has everything we needed for a comfortable vacation. Nice and private location. Great to have a full kitchen to cook a homemade meal after a long day of exploring Acadia and downtown Bar Harbor.

Had a great relaxing long weekend. The house was perfect for our needs and had everything you could possibly need. The hot tub was awesome for the snowy days we had after hiking. The host was super responsive to any of our questions and needs. We will certainly be making another trip out there

We stayed at this property in the beginning of September. The property was perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking in Acadia national Park. The kitchen was well equipped. The hot tub was a pleasant surprise! The property is close to everything would want to do in that area. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location and easy to follow instructions! We loved the hot tub - it was very welcome after a day of hiking in Acadia. Well stocked and equipped kitchen. Shower was tight but functional and the beds were comfortable!

Easy access to the park. Great location. Large washing machine was great. Hot tub was a nice surprise. Lots of room to spread out. The loft was great for our kids. No dishwasher. Water has a hydrogen sulfide smell. The bathroom is very small and shower is very tiny. There were several cobwebs and spiders in the shower/bathroom. There are several holes in the house where the door isn't square or the trim doesn't cover the drywall or the flooring doesn't meet the wall. That made it feel not great especially with the spiders.

House is as described! Pictures accurate. We enjoyed the surprise of the hot tub, which we were not expecting. Our dog enjoyed the backyard. Fire pit made for a great cool night activity. Upstairs is open to downstairs with no door, but that did not bother us. We used the pull out couch for children who did not complain about it so I assume it was comfortable. Chairs by firepit may need to be replaced soon as they did not seem very sturdy but held us just fine. Lots of bugs in the backyard, be prepared for that, at least in mid-June. Overall great stay.
