Thaddeus Twitchell House - In-Ground pool, Hot tub, Skiing, Golf, Hiking & More!

The Thaddeus Twitchell House was perfect for our family ski vacation. Very convenient to Sunday River ski resort & the small town of Bethel. The property was very clean & well equipped with everything our family needed. Would definitely stay here again!

House was great. Having so many private rooms with bathrooms is a great feature for a large group. Hot tub is great too. Would definitely stay here again.

The home was beautiful and could accommodate a large group like ours. We appreciated the good communication with the host, the spacious and well-stocked kitchen, the en suite bathrooms with good water pressure, and the great location super close to Sunday River. I would definitely recommend this home to a large group looking for a great place to stay in this area!

Everything was wonderful. It’s a beautiful house in a great location, the kitchen has everything you could want, the host is very responsive, I could go on and on. Everything our group of 13 was looking for….

Our host JASON was extremely welcoming. The amenities in the house are far beyond what would be needed. Everything is first class. We love the proximity to Sunday River. We had a great time skiing three generations together. It would be difficult to describe the exquisite food, one confined in the town of Bethel. We truly recommend this for any kind of family gathering. Again we want to acknowledge how friendly and supportive Jason was throughout- thank you!

I was taught if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all…. Well I have LOTS to say about this amazing property! It was the most well appointed rental I’ve ever stayed at…not only did they have everything you could need, but it was all top quality too - no yard sale mix and match pots and pans, etc. they had super comfy mattresses and pillows, and the owner was FANTASTIC to work with!! We will definitely come back to this property for another vacation. Oh, and that wasn’t enough, the location was perfect - close to everything you want to do in the area!!

The Twitchell House is a lovely historic home with some excellent modern updates including individual AC units, swimming pool, and a hot tub. There was ample seating for our large crowd for both dining and entertainment. The house was well stocked with upgraded paper products, linens, and towels. The kitchen was well stocked with good quality cookware, utensils, flatware, serving dishes, and baking dishes. There was ample glassware for both indoor and outdoor use. The pool had good quality patio furniture with ample lounge chairs. Jason was very responsive during our stay and one problem related to the pool heater was fixed immediately. We would happily stay there again.

The house was exactly as advertised and as wonderful as you imagine it to be. We’re an extended family of 8 with teenagers and adolescents staying for 5 nights in the summer. The heated in ground pool, resort-style deck, clean hot tub, flat backyard with fully stocked lawn games kept the kids busy for days and nights. The screen house by the pool with perfect tabletop fire feature kept us all bug free and cozy for family games at night. Jason is a great communicator and made the whole process flawless. The house was perfectly appointed, beautifully decorated, full of local history and unbelievably comfortable. Highly recommended rental.

Great property! So much room for our growing family. Comfortable beds. The house was well stocked with cookware, paper goods, towels, games, etc. The pool was very clean and having it heated was a bonus. Nice backyard and lawn games too. The owner is fantastic-excellent communication and incredibly responsive. I highly recommend this property.

We had an excellent week in the Thaddeus Twitchell house and Jason/Erin were perfect hosts. The 16 of us thoroughly enjoyed the home which was immaculate, a kitchen that was amazing, and a pool/hot tub that was wonderful. The entire house was well decorated and had numerous accoutrements that surprised us all. We highly recommend a stay at the TW house! You will love it!!

Had a great stay at the Thaddeus Twitchell house during our winter break. The house fit our large group of 16 very comfortably with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. Location was excellent as our main goal was to ski at Sunday River. The house was about 8 mins drive to the resort. Overall a great stay!

Wonderful house, comfortable, well equipped and big enough for a group of 12-14 women who have an annual winter gathering to ski, snowshoe, sing, cook and eat great food, read, play music, you get the idea.

Beautiful property. We had so much fun celebrating our family Christmas. Plenty of room for everyone. Bedrooms were comfortable and plenty of bathroom space. Everyone was very happy with the property. John and Cynthia are very kind and accommodating. Very quick to respond to any of our questions. Super nice people. I would highly recommend this property.

Our family, 14 of us, rented the Thaddeus Twitchell House during the Columbus Day weekend. The home was beautifully furnished and decorated and all the furniture was top notch. Everything was exactly as described in the literature. There were no surprises, only delights. All the appliances were top quality and worked as expected. The kitchen had two dish washers. What a blessing for our large group. Every room had a bathroom and most rooms had their own TV. The hosts were wonderful. John and Cynthia were very responsive and made sure our stay would be a positive one. We experienced a major wind storm during our stay which caused damage to a tree in the front yard. Within a few hours a crew was on site, removed the downed limb and thoroughly cleaned up the debris. We couldn’t have asked for more. The whole weekend was a very positive experience. Thank you John and Cynthia for helping make our family gathering memorable.

The house was perfect for our large extended family, with a bed & bath combo for everyone. The location was perfect for lead peeping and connecting at the local breweries and at the Fryeburg Fair. A truly terrific stay!

This is an amazing house for a group of friends and their kids. We had the best time in the pool, playroom and outdoors There was plenty of space for everyone to stay without feeling crowded. The kitchen was well stocked with plenty of plates, cups and silverware for a large group The whole house and pool area was very clean and had lots of towels for everyone There is some nicer furniture/items that I put away when we arrived The owners were wonderful and easy to communicate with I highly recommend this house

We had an awesome stay at the Thaddeus Twitchell House! Check-in/check-out was easy! The house was spacious and most importantly clean! The pool and hot tub were also well maintained. Loved that we all had king sized beds and our own private bathrooms. Would definitely return!

We stayed in this big house for 3 nights with our 4 grown-up children's family from east and west coasts for our first family reunion trip in honor of my recently deceased mother who valued family tie. We had a total of 10 adults and 6 children and the reunion was just fantastic. At the dinner table of our last night staying there, we all took turn to say something about this stay. The comments are as follows: 1. The kitchen is really big, equipped with all the gadgets we need and 2 dishwashers, making preparation of meals extra convenient. 2. The swimming pool is a blast and we can stay there for most of our days, plus the hot tub is super relaxing and comfortable. 3. The bedrooms are so comfortable and we love having our own bathroom. 4. The dinner table is so big that we can all sit together to enjoy our meals 5. The place is really spacious so we can have our own space if needed or chat as a group when feel like to. 6. The house is so sound-proof that we can have quiet sleep without hearing babies crying. 7. The game room with its many games is fun for both young and old. 8. My 7-years old grandson said, 'We should come here every year for a family reunion!' Thanks to John and Cynthia for sharing their lovely house with us, and their quick response to any questions we had is highly commendable.

The house was as advertised and was a great place for a family vacation. Our family included several very small children so we ate many meals in the house.The lovely, large kitchen was better-equipped than any rental home we’ve stayed in, and we loved that there were plenty of bedrooms for everyone—most all with en suite baths. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and outdoor area. The owners promptly responded to the couple of questions we had.

We had a fantastic vacation here. Three families stayed together, enjoyed attractions in the area, and a full pool day. We couldn't have had a better stay.
