Tathra Beach Shack is one of Tathra's original cottages and is located on the southern headland overlooking Tathra beach. The cottage oozes character with original timber floorboards throughout the living area and original fireplace to keep you snug at night.
Two of the three bedrooms have queen beds and have views directly over the beach. The third bedroom has two single beds. The main bedroom is a large expansive room with ensuit and TV.
The cottage has a wonderful sundeck

Stayed Sep 1, 2025Location superb. Property somewhat run down outside. Dog yard - low fences and too much vegetation in it considering tick problem. But nice to be a pet friendly property. Inside character plus. Cleanliness not so good minor maintenance would make a difference, but greeting by owner warm and friendly.

Stayed Apr 5, 2025We really wanted to love this place, but had some MAJOR hygiene issues throughout our stay. The cleanliness of the place upon arrival was abysmal. There were mouse droppings throughout the kitchen cupboards and over all the cutlery, crockery and drinking mugs. When we went to make up the bed, there was a significant amount of mouse poo under the pillows and on top of the mattress. Our toddler was woken frequently throughout the week as it was likely a mouse was running over her in her sleep. We had to set traps and every morning deal with what we found. Additionally, there were a number of other cleanliness issues (bats inside the house and inappropriate things left lying around by the previous guest) and we ended up having to throw out a large portion of our dry food due to these unhygienic conditions.We were very disappointed with the communication we received from the hosts and had to justify a number of times as to why we were upset. During the stay, they refunded less than 10% of the overall fee but did not compensate for our food losses.Had we not had these issues, it would have been a pleasant stay. The location is superb and the house functional - but this was a very disappointing and frustrating situation to have to deal with on our holiday.

Stayed Feb 21, 2025We had a great time at the beach shack. This is truly a unique property and I feel very priviledged to have had the opportunity to stay here. The period features of the house are beautiful, and I don't think anyone could get tired of the view. It was the perfect place for us and our dogs to get away for a week. We will be back!
