Stayed Oct 2, 20251st time to the area for a wedding nearby which made its location perfect! Plenty of comfortable seating on the porches for relaxing & bird watching. Are stay was short, but we had everything we needed. The coffee/ tea counter was perfect. The veiw from the dining room table, beautiful. The bed was comfy, the place clean & peaceful, making it a breeze to prepare for a family wedding. I would not hesitate to stay at Sweet Afton again, & take some time to explore this beautiful area.

Stayed Sep 8, 2025The cottage was clean, well-equipped and peaceful. We enjoyed the dark skies at night, even seeing the Milky Way. The Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway were nearby and easy to get to.Shops and restaurants were a little farther but still accessible.

Stayed Aug 4, 2025My husband and I had a wonderful stay with our Chocolate Lab. The house has everything you need to relax while staying efficient: such as wifi, washer and dryer, and multiple indoor and outdoor cooking options. It’s perfectly situated near the Nelson 151 providing easy access to multiple wineries and breweries. We will definitely return!

Stayed Jun 27, 2025A charming, tranquil location with a mountain view, large pet friendly fenced yard, and lovely flower gardens. The house is very comfortable and the kitchen is fully equipped. There are two excellent wineries within a mile and easy access to others nearby. Hiking opportunities are numerous in the area. If you enjoy a good sit in a front porch rocking chair surrounded by nature, this is your spot. We would without hesitation recommend and return to this property.

Stayed Feb 14, 2025This was a great house to stay in. It is close to wineries, breakfast diners, and wintergreen. My favorite thing was the fenced in yard so our dogs could run around!

Stayed Sep 15, 2024Sweet Afton is a cute country cottage with a few little endearing quirks expected from an older home -- squeaky wood floors, wavy windows, and sometimes prickly door/window operations. The gardens, which provide ample privacy from traffic and neighbors, were beautiful even in September. My favorite was to sit on the back porch and enjoy the view of the gardens, the mountains, and the deer that visited pretty much every morning and evening -- even in the rain. I thought the beds and pillows were comfortable and the bathroom -- although small -- was nicely updated with shelves to store your bath items. The kitchen had everything that I needed (hot water kettle!) -- though I typically bring meals from home that just need warming up. Having live plants in the house definitely made it feel homey. The cottage, besides being in a beautiful setting, was extremely convenient to hiking BRP/SNP and the Blue Ridge Tunnel (which the East entrance was only like a 3-minute drive). It's also convenient if you want to visit the local country/general stores, orchards, and antique stores. Also, I am not an Apple user, so figuring out the remotes took a few extra minutes - but not insurmountable, obviously! I did have a few things that I alerted Guesthouses about during my stay and they were very responsive. I think my one recommendation is a quick sweep of the porches and windows before a guest arrives to make it feel a little more inviting. Overall, I would definitely return.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024Wonderful cottage in the Afton mountains. Convenient to trails, vineyards, and breweries. Yard was completely fenced and even my ever tenacious Jack Russell Terrier could not find an escape - loved watching her run around outside. Highly recommended.

Stayed Aug 8, 2024This is the second time we have stayed at Sweet Afton. We really enjoy the location and the house itself. We did have an issue with the water going out two times on the same day, but Drew came to the house almost immediately to fix it. We plan to stay at this property again.

Stayed Jul 16, 2024Perfect farmhouse cottage with an amazing property. House was adorable and fully equipped. The front and back porches were priceless. A big thunderstorm rolled through one night and we sat on the porch and watched it all! Quiet area but the wineries, breweries and distilleries nearby were our favorites! Better views than closer to Monticello and better wine! Blue ridge tunnel was a unique and fun experience. Planning our next visit already!

Stayed Jul 6, 2024Perfect size for our family of 3 and the location was ideal as we were visiting family who live on both sides of Afton Mountain. We had a really nice stay and the location meets our needs so we will definitely book again when we come down to Virginia.

Stayed Jun 10, 2024We had a great stay at sweet Afton house and bathroom remodel was a huge improvement. Our only complaint was grass needed mowed when we arrived. Contacted host upon arrival to request mowing as soon as possible. Host committed to Wednesay, two days after our arrival for a 4-night stay. Grass wasn't mowed until Thursday, the day before our departure. No communication from host to follow up on our concern. We love spending time outdoors with our dog, so playtime and clean up was difficult.
