Built near the base of the Superstition Mountains with gorgeous views of Flat Iron. Short dirt road connects you from the main road to the houses. You will truly feel you have escaped to beautiful desert settings yet can get to downtown Apache Junction in minutes. Being located so close to the Superstition Mountains in a quiet remote area tho, the internet signal is fine for basic internet but very slow for streaming or multiple users, and also due to the fact of the location and that it is on a well the water pressure is medium and the hot water does take a few minutes at the sinks. Also please do not park RVs on the property to sleep additional guests and we do not want any dry camping. Please leave maximum guests at the house to 14. Thank you!
(Please note: the home owners do not allow any wedding ceremonies or large gatherings on the property. Unfortunately we have had a couple of bad experiences with raucous wedding groups, exceeding the maximum number of guests we allow…my apologies!)
We also recommend you consider purchasing travel insurance thru VRBO in case something unforeseen delays your trip: weather, illness, plan changes etc….
We had a wonderful stay at this house. Not only was the house beautiful but the owner was incredibly helpful. I left my cell phone and apple watch there and he promptly mailed it back to me. He didn’t even charge. We would definitely stay here again!!!
Really enjoyed our stay, the host was communicative and the house is very comfortable. Great location, close to amenities but also with a desert feel - close to lots of nature, birds, rabbits, even a coyote!
Communication was excellent. Hot tub with Arozonia night skies and superstition mountains in the back ground. This house was Arizona Complete. We will be back .
It was great. Beautiful property and lovely space.
This house was perfect for our family as we celebrated a 90th birthday for our mother. Location was great in Apache Junction where she is located. Plenty of room to gather and and for every to sleep. The views are fantastic, with a great outdoor space and hot tub is a bonus. Mark was extremely accommodating and willing to help with any issues and very responsive. Would definitely go back.
Beautiful house and grounds clearly crafted with care and skill. We’d recommend it.
The best part was communication. The host instantly replies!!! The reason why any problem or questions were taken cared immediately. The place was as expected. A problem regarding 2nd bathroom water heater… host said they will deal with that for future guests. Nice place.
Mark, you are a nice guy but there are definitely some things the owners must do to make this the resort style rental they want. Communication came from management an hour before 4pm check-in that they had to fix the hot water to the kitchen and said we could drive around and come back later or just check-in while the work is being done. We decided to show up at 5pm (should we be charged less for this?) at which time we spoke to the managers before they left us with the plumber. We could not go out the first night while waiting for the plumber. The plumber finished at 8pm and sat in our gated driveway another hour before we asked him to leave. (Should we be charged less for waiting with the plumber causing us to miss dinner reservations?) This was only rented by 2 of us hunting during the daytime so we made do. If you were to rent this with a family it would be very difficult to get your showers/kitchen prep done. Build up in the shower heads from not having a water softener has caused the showers to have a very slow pressure. The corrosiveness of the water is clearly seen in most sinks, faucets, cups, and plates provided with the house. If you can get through the various water issues, it is a somewhat secluded property with beautiful views and lots of animals. We saw quail, dove, rabbit, and a coyote in one weekend.
My family and I stayed here for five nights over thanksgiving. We loved the adobe house, the viga and latillas, and the spacious yard. We also liked the location, being close to trails and that the house is pet friendly. We also had some issues and observations that prevented us from giving a higher rating. When we arrived, we noticed that the floors didn’t appear mopped, with dirt and pieces of leaves and grass on the floors. When we were unloading our ice chest we noticed bits of food in the fridge and most of the dishes we used needed rewashing. The glasses had hard water residue, which wasn’t a problem, but the dried up bits of food crusted to the glasses, mugs, and plates was a problem. A less important observation was just the general lack of upkeep in the yard, with trash in the gully in front of the house, a leaf blower would go a long ways on the porches, the windows had great views but were filthy, and some random things that could get put away like a jug of insecticide. Anyone visiting should be advised to bring bottled water. We found the well water having a bad flavor, so loaded up with bottled water on our second day. When we started cooking on our first night, we discovered that with some burners, the flint would continuously click while cooking. So we’d change burners and after a few minutes the clicking would start back up so we’d need to switch burners again. Also, the dishwasher didn’t work. So, we had to hand wash the dishes. But the sink wouldn’t drain and the garbage disposal was also broken. So we did dishes in basins, which was a bit of a pain, especially since the host asks guests to wash dishes before departure in spite of our cleaning fee (which wasn’t clear they actually used to hire professionals). We could have had the host fix the garbage disposal, but it was thanksgiving and we wanted our privacy. The hot water in the kitchen didn’t work so we heated water on the stove. In the master bedroom there was a blind that was broken , so I had to roll it up and loop the chord around a nail to open. Not a big deal, but another example of poor upkeep on an otherwise nice place. On our last night the hot water heater in the master bathroom stopped working. It was late and we were leaving the next day, so we didn’t bother calling for help. There is a separate hot water heater running the other side of the house, so we were able to shower in the morning. We couldn’t at night because we didn’t want to wake the kids.
This was a great place e for a family reunion- plenty of space for everyone, beautiful property, great kitchen. We loved it!
Our family really enjoyed this beautiful property. Nice to be close to adventure and the city nearby for anything you need. Wonderful accommodations and beautiful landscaping. Wish we had stayed longer (:
Beautifully designed and very comfortable house with a great view of Superstition Mountain. This is a terrific place from which to visit the Apache Junction area.
We had a really nice time at Mark’s lovely place near Superstition Mountain in Mesa. The house and guest house were beautiful! Coming from Minneapolis in March, the sun and warmth was just spectacular. Mark was a very responsive host answering some questions we had. We hope to be back next spring!
Beautiful property with a great view of Superstition Mountain. House is very comfortable with plenty of room. Separate house on the property is perfect. Has its own shower, kitchen, living space. Private and secluded. Perfect location for views and gatherings. Would absolutely recommend!
My friends and I had an awesome weekend visiting Arizona. The views from this house are absolutely incredible and we were able to hike directly from the house into the nearby state park and mountains. Ghost town nearby was also great; we will definitely be back again soon!
