Sunset Beach Cottage - So.Whidbey Island. Langley, Kayak; Beachwalk, Clam, view

We had a wonderful one night stay at the Sunset Beach Cottage & wish we would have been able to stay longer. It’s a gorgeous property, gardens & beachfront, & the cottage itself is adorable. Well appointed kitchen & bathroom & cozy throughout. My Grandma Mackie grew up on Maxwelton beach in the early 1900’s and the little park on the beach is named after her family so it was fun to walk in her footsteps on the beach with our dog (& yes the pet friendly was a huge positive for us). I grew up on S. Whidbey and we raised our kids there so it was great to be back in our old stomping grounds and Paula was a wonderful host with easy communications. We will definitely try to return when the weather is better & the tide flats warm up the water for swimming and beach activities!Michele I.

Cozy, clean, amazing view!

Everything was perfect! It was clean, well-equipped, comfortable and cozy, and the location can't be beat. There was a water dispenser we couldn't figure out how to use (would have loved that for hot water for tea), but the tap water on Whidbey is fine and there were pots to heat water in! We'll definitely be back.

We enjoyed the quiet and the great view of water, mountains and clouds. Comfortable bed good kitchen well maintained etc. Could do with a grab bar in the bathtub to make it easier to get in and out.

Fantastic spot, right on the beach! We ran into the water for a cold plunge first thing in the morning. Great for wildlife and just watching the water. Peaceful and restorative.

Sunset Beach Cottage is a must stay. This place is beautiful. The hosts are outstanding and worked with us to allow are dogs to stay…the beach access at your doorstep is truly amazing. We will be back !

We absolutely loved being on the water with views of the snow capped Olympic Mountains. The bed was very comfortable and we loved sitting by the fire . We walked the beach and walked the road in the morning and said good morning to the chickens and sheep. We wanted eggs but didnt have cash.The kitchen had what we needed and I loved the tea. We definitely want to come back. Thank you for being a wonderful host!!!

Splendid location, cottage and landscaping.The cottage was friendly and inviting.Parking was great, views were awesome and amenities were very welcoming.Would stay again!

I brought my Dad for his first trip to Whidbey Island and we had a wonderful stay! The cottage was just perfect for our needs. Loved beach combing and watching the boats go by. The cottage had everything we needed or could have wanted; thank you for sharing this great property with us!

The Sunset Cottage was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday - the cabin is fully stocked with all utensils needed for cooking, the beach is just feet away with amazing views and the bed and furniture very comfortable, everything was well organized and clean and so thoughtfully done. We’d love to return again!

This place has an unbeatable view and is in a super relaxing and laid back area with easy access to the ferry. Paula the host was awesome. Super prompt responses and very easy to work with. I will definitely be coming back

This is a terrific property for a quick weekend getaway. We spent a single night here and it was beautiful. The home itself is small but cozy, had everything we need to make breakfast lunch and dinner, including a BBQ outside. Unforunately it was rainging for half our stay so we didnt get to utilize the back patio furniture and firepit but those looked lovely as well. The beds were comfortable and had no smells or issues. Listening to the waves crash at night was one of my favorite things of this stay. I would highly recommend it and would love to book again in the future.

It was everything we had hoped for. We enjoyed our host and her recommendations, which turned out to be the highlights of our trip.

Excellent!

My husband and I stayed here for three nights with our two grandchildren. The cottage is very small and cozy; when the trundle is in use in the twin bedroom, the door can't be closed so we all went to bed at the same time. This is included in the property description, but I wanted to mention it for anyone planning to have two people in the twin bedroom. The location is very near the ferry terminal and Langley. At high tide, the water laps up almost to the edge of the patio. We had fun grilling at night and having s'mores over the fire pit. Firewood, kindling and tongs were thoughtfully provided. The garden flowers made it even more beautiful to sit on the patio and enjoy the view.

The cabin was clean and the door code worked. Instructions inside stated there was a key, but I did not find one. Even thought the advertising stated this was not refundable, I reached out to owner twice to see if I could change dates or find someone else to rent. My event was cancelled so had no reason to come to South Whidbey. I received no communication back from Owner. I would have been ok with a no, but would liked to have had some response. Patio was great, beach walking was fabulous. Propane tank was empty on bbq. Bed was comfortable. Went to Farmers Market on Saturday and loved that experience. Came back to cabin and found the owner there potting plants. I explained I would have like to have had some notice, but was not ok with her being on site. She left.The is definitely for the beach and view.

We loved Sunset Cottage for the views from bedroom and living area. It is small but well laid out. The garden was a big plus that we really enjoyed. There is some street noise but it was quiet at night. It was very hot during our stay so we could leave windows and doors open and hear the sound of the water. Lots of birds in area both on the water and on the other side of the street where there are open farm fields. The house was very clean although the refrigerator could of used a better cleaning. On our last night someone across the street had been doing some open trash or yard waste burning. There were very big billows of smoke that the wind blew across the street. The burning was left unattended and smoked all night which meant we needed to close all the windows and doors which was very disappointing. We didn't contact Paula regarding the smoke since it was our last night there and we didn't know if there was anything she could do. Paula left some beautiful flowers for our arrival that we appreciated. In spite of the smoke incident we would stay here again. Wonderful location and very sweet cottage.

Sunset Cottage and the hosts made our vacation one for the memory books! The large picture windows framed the water & magical garden like real-life pictures. The patio was a perfect spot to watch the birds while sipping cocktails. The host, Paula, provided reviews of places to eat & see on S. Whidbey. Our best vacation EVER! Thank you!

Relaxing

We stayed 2 nights and I wished I had a week! The cottage and the grounds are so sweet. Fresh herbs in the tiny gardens around the property, beautiful view of the bay, gorgeous sunsets and a cozy little cottage. Looking forward to a return visit! The owner is very sweet and was very accommodating to us. She really made the trip.

We had a lovely overnight stay and found the place to be well appointed & comfy. It worked fine for 3 adults! We didn't use much it had to offer - we arrived late and it was cold so we didnt go out back. This place seems like a perfect beach house!

We really enjoyed this cozy cottage, perfect for a family of 4. Wonderful view and location. We hope to return again and experience it during the summer.

Maxwelton Beach location was a lovely “find”! This cozy cottage took us back to our childhood memories of cabin adventures. The firepit gathering area by the beach, kitchen, and the huge extremely cozy bed… gosh.. when you book- add an xtra day or two - wish we had.

We loved this cottage and the super quiet neighborhood. The beach was right out the back door and was very quiet as well. We were close enough to go to Langley, Coupeville, and Deception Pass during our trip. The jam was a very nice touch and we ended up going to the farm stand it was from to purchase another for our trip home. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay. The location, view and cleanliness of the property were all fabulous. We are planners and like to know everything in advance. We never saw/received check-in instructions from the property owner and were a bit panicked on the day. It would have been nice for the confirmation email (with additional information) to have included a line indicating that Door code will populate in App at allowed check-in time. It was stressful.

Amazing location, just right there at high tide, quiet area/neighborhood, inside had all we needed, two A+ off leash dog parks nearby, just sit back and stretch your eyes.

Had a great few days relaxing at this cottage. It had everything I needed. Large deck, very peaceful, awesome view!

This little gem was spotlessly clean and thoughtfully supplied with everything from lavender soap to locally produced hand lotion to bags to clean up after our dog. Owner answered our emails super fast and left us some wine and local jam. The views from the back of the house and the patio were to die for. Can’t wait to return.

The check-in/out process was seamless and Paula was an excellent host. We loved spending evenings by the fire pit, roasting s'mores and watching the stunning sunsets. We only got to stay one night at the sunset cottage and man were we bummed to pack up!! What an incredibly peaceful and sweet little cottage on the water. The wild life is right outside your door and there is a long beach to walk down and find all kinds of shells and rocks to enjoy. We were celebrating our anniversary and mentioned that this is a place we would love to stay in again sometime soon! I will definitely be referring our friends.
