Stayed Nov 22, 2023Pros: Lovely house in quiet neighborhood with hiking and beautiful surroundings. Beautiful room to hang out in, nice kitchen, beds were comfy, fireplace lent ambiance Cons: Vacasa is a difficult property management company to deal with. They are all automated, won't let you remove your credit card from their system once you pay, and are not responsive in a timely manner. We couldn't locate the heat controls (turns out the wall heaters have been disabled and the stove doesn't quite heat up the large room) and no response via text or phone until the following day. In fact, they have not posted my review stating this. I will avoid vacasa managed properties in future, but this sure was a lovely house!

Stayed Jan 1, 2026Tucked away in a lovely quiet neighborhood! We loved the easy access to Mendo and Ft Bragg. The hot tub with the amazing redwoods in the background was such a treat. Cozy, clean and enjoyable for a family weekend getaway.

Stayed Sep 5, 2025The property was ready earlier than check-in time. Although we were not able to take advantage of that, we appreciate it. The house was very clean and very well provisioned. The smart TV and all appliances and amenities worked well. The location is spacious, quiet, and beautiful. There is somewhat of a musty smell in the house, but we burned a scented candle and that helped. Also, there were quite a few spiders inside and out, which is to be expected considering the location near the woods. The windows in the bathrooms only have a sheer curtain and do not provide adequate privacy from outside. Overall, it’s a very nice location and we would stay there again.

Stayed Jul 3, 2025Wonderful house set in a very quiet neighborhood a short drive to Mendocino town and Fort Bragg. We loved the house layout, yard and deck, gas BBQ and of course the hot tub. Main bedroom was a bit musty likely because it’s in the shady side/back of house. The house was very clean and had all of the kitchen tools and other amenities we needed for myself, Husband, and elderly mother. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it, and we would stay again when we are in the area.

Stayed Jun 12, 2025This house was perfect for my family. My older daughter keeps talking about the yellow house, and wants to go back. We'll definitely try to book this place again in the future!

Stayed Oct 27, 2024We really enjoyed staying here. The woods and being so close to the ocean was exacting what we wanted. It was the perfect distance from Mendicino and Ft Bragg. Although we weren’t able to use the hot tub because of an unforeseen breakdown of it, we appreciated the quick response to the problem. We hope one day we will be able to come back. This place is a delight.?

Stayed Oct 10, 2024Property is located uphill of Hwy 1, just high enough to clear the ocean fog in Mendocino town. The front deck faces West/Southwest; sunny and bright. Easy few minutes into town, with Mendoza's market happy to provide whatever you might need; including a butcher counter. While we vowed to eat out all of the nights we were there, the property kitchen is the best equipped of any property we've stayed.

Stayed Oct 6, 2024Our stay was great! Beautiful interior and sparkly clean. Hot-tubbing under the stars each night in a hot tub nicely tuned to 100 degrees. Sitting on the big patio deck gazing into the forest. Hiking in Russian Gulch State Park. Grilling on the Weber and eating outside with the bistro lights on. Watching a movie on the large television. Cooking in the well-appointed kitchen. Sleeping on the nice Nectar mattress. It was a five-star stay. That’s probably all you need to know, so you can stop here if you don’t want a couple of quirky personal things I noticed. The keypad to get into the house was made for people with a higher IQ than mine. I never did get it right. Luckily, my dear wife had the brains and the knack for getting it to open. She often says that she has strange electricity in her fingertips because electronics don’t always work for her the way they work for everyone else. I think she found her resonant frequency with this keypad. Even if she thought she got the long code wrong, it opened. Even when I thought I got the long code right, it remained locked. May your experience be like my wife’s. And I had trouble getting the shower water calibrated to the right heat. It is a little claustrophobic in the stall with a cold plastic inner liner, so I found myself dancing around a bit to get the water to the right temperature (it was slow to respond to adjustments) and avoid touching the plastic liner. Maybe better to calibrate from outside the shower.

Stayed Aug 12, 2024Hiker's Delight is everything it said it would be. Its back gate leads directly into Russian Gulch State Park with well maintained trials through the redwoods and ferns that access the beach/cliffs as well as an inland waterfall. The property is well maintained, well stocked, easy to use, comfortable, quite, and clean. It is very close to Mendocino so groceries and other venues were nearby. You barely see any of the neighboring structures and the detached dwelling was empty when we were there. We had fast and comprehensive support from the VACASA management company, although a personal touch like a Things to Do folder and a warning/advisory about local road closures/repairs would have been nice. We would definitely stay here again.
