Madison, Virginia
Welcome to Casa Esperanza. Casa Esperanza is a stunning 2000 sq ft custom pine log home. Upon entering through the main door, you will be wowed by the two-story ceilings and “W” trusses. The main living area is open-concept with a dining room, great room, and chef’s kitchen surrounding a two-story, double-sided stone gas fireplace. Four skylights and a two-story floor-to-ceiling wall of windows brighten the main living area and provide magnificent views overlooking the woods and mountains.
The chef’s kitchen includes a microwave, oven, fridge, trash compactor, dishwasher, InSinkErator – small tank boiling water tap, and five-burner gas cooktop. The dining room has an antique table with seating for six and an area to prepare drinks. A 55” smart TV in the great room offers Sling, Peacock, and Netflix. Other electronics available are a DVD player, USB charging station, and docking station connected to Bose speakers for your smartphone or iPod. Should you decide that disconnecting from the world is not for you, we do have high-speed WiFi. Cell phone service is spotty at best, so we offer a landline phone for emergency use. We find that WhatsApp is best for texting.
The house includes one master bedroom and two guest bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and an adjoining master bathroom with a two-person shower and bidet. Each guest bedroom has a queen bed, and both share a full bathroom with two pedestal sinks and a shower/tub combo. The house also features a pantry/mud/laundry room with sink, extra pantry storage, and a Miele washer and dryer. Four vehicles can easily park at the top of the driveway (back-in turn around at the top).
Casa Esperanza is located in Madison, Virginia—only two hours from D.C. and northern Virginia—the perfect long weekend getaway. The house is on two acres of wooded land overlooking the Shenandoah National Park—directly across from Jones Mountain. Charlottesville and the UVA campus are only 27 miles away, with lots of shopping, antiquing, and dining along the way. Massanutten is less than an hour away. There are several golf courses close to Casa Esperanza if you prefer a more manicured hike.
Hiking trailheads are a short 10-minute drive, including an entrance into the Shenandoah National Park along the Rapidan River. If you prefer something less vigorous, like lifting a glass of wine, Early Mountain Vineyards is only a 15-minute drive, and many other wineries are only 30 minutes away.
If you prefer even less activity and the comfort of your PJs, Casa Esperanza has all the comforts of home and lots of places to lounge on the upper and lower decks. The upper deck has oversized swivel chairs, a gas fire pit, a chiminea, and a large gas grill. The lower deck and open log gazebo have a Scan wood stove, hammock, and outdoor chairs. The deck overlooks the Shenandoah National Park—perfect for birdwatching, sunsets, stargazing, or spying the ever-elusive Sasquatch.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Location: Casa Esperanza is located in a gravel road community. Our driveway is also gravel and steep. 4x4, AWD, or front-wheel drive is highly recommended.
Insects: Keep in mind that we are in the mountains and that means bugs and wildlife. We pay for pest control, but that doesn't mean zero insects. Trash/recycling must be kept in the garage to prevent wildlife visitations.
Security: Security cameras face the driveway and front door entry.
Resident Pets: We have a pet cat and dog. Every effort will be made to ensure that the house is free of pet hair, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
Casa Esperanza was a perfect setting for our family's Thanksgiving. The cabin itself was beautiful with lovely furnishings, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, and a well equipped kitchen. The double sided fireplace was enjoyed at the dining table and while sitting on the comfortable couches enjoying the miles long view of the mountains. We enjoyed stargazing on the upper deck around the fire table and admired the daytime views from the lower deck with its hammock. Rosalie and her husband were extremely helpful and kind when our family had a bit of a personal snag with our arrival. We also really appreciated that, knowing we were there for Thanksgiving, they had set out some Thanksgiving decorative touches in the cabin. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed 3 days of hiking, 2 nearer to the cabin, and a third in the Shenandoah National Park. We also enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Lafayette Inn in Standardsville. Our family would love to stay at this property again and recommend it highly.
We had a fabulous stay at Casa Esperanza! The home is thoughtfully designed with creature comforts in mind from cozy throws to the gas lit fire pit. We hope to return soon.
We had a great stay with college friends. The house has wonderful views looking towards Shenandoah Park and is very well appointed. Great kitchen, comfortable seating and everything we could ask for. The hosts were pleasant and super responsive, very invested in us having a great stay-which we did. We hope we can make it back.
With all amenities, secluded location, close proximity to hiking and wineries and spectacular mountain views, this rustic chic home was a comfortable place to relax and connect with nature.
As soon as we arrived, I couldn’t wait to write my review. After having stayed at countless vacation rentals, over numerous years, this one by far exceeded all of my expectations! The hosts have gone above and beyond in ensuring there is not one thing lacking in their gorgeous home. They have thought of everything to make your stay perfect in every way! Tiny safety pins to the curtains to ensure no light enters if desired, Black extension cords on each bed into which your devices may be plugged, cozy blanket on each bed, crisp, clean linens with comfy foam covers the mattresses, not a speck of dirt on the floor, spectacular views from each room, plenty of hangers in each closet, immaculate gas grill right outside the back door on the deck, comfy clean rugs right out of the shower, endless hot water and amazing pressure, soft, thick and plentiful towels, First aid kit and blow dryer in bathrooms, Extra TP and PT, easy to use TV, board games, fully stocked high-end kitchen, blackout shades, laundry detergent, stain remover and dryer sheets, liquid hand soap at all sinks, hand lotion and tissues are just a few items we noted to ensure an absolutely wonderful stay! Not to mention the hammock and fire pits on the upper and lower decks, too! You don’t want to miss out on this stay! Book today!
An absolutely beautiful log home and property in a perfect location! Furnished with EVERYTHING you could possibly think of.... plus, plus, plus. Every room was immaculate and luxurious. The gazebo is built on a rock outcropping surrounded by trees and it feels like you're in a tree house. Amazing! Our family had a beautiful weekend of hiking and lounging. Rosalie, thank you for rescuing us upon our arrival, sharing your beautiful home and making us feel so welcome. We look forward to coming back.
Absolutely beautiful property within two hours of NoVa. Perfect for couples to get away with friends or older adult children and take in beautiful mountain views . So many thoughtful attention to details that I can't possibly mention them all. We felt like honored guests. Beds were super comfortable and master bathroom shower divine! Went to Early Mountain (which is very close) but this property was so beautiful we really preferred to be on the porch watching the birds or stargazing with a glass of wine or cup of tea! We did have a bad storm when we arrived on Friday that knocked out power for a few hours but Jim and Rosalie were super responsive and the generator kicked on immediately so it all worked out fine! All in all a wonderful long weekend getaway and we would love to visit again.
A stunning house with beautiful views of the mountains, this house needs nothing as it has everything you need to relax, to have fun, the gazebo at the bottom is a great place to relax as well. The views are unbelievable. We’re definitely coming back, the house was absolutely AMAZING! Thank you!
