Stayed May 29, 2024While the house is roomy, and historic, able to accommodate a large number of people, it has significant maintenance issues. Second floor shower/tub was turned off by cut off valves that could only be turned by entering an adjacent bathroom. While the host communicated when asked that this was because it needs a new mixer and he ordered a new one but the one that was delivered was wrong for that tub and he had a new one on order. Still, it was a big inconvenience. The basement shower water temperature was tepid at best, and if you turned the handle to the hottest level it actually got ice cold. To get barely lukewarm water, you had to position about 3/4 of the way toward the hottest setting. None of this was communicated to us. With 7 people staying in the house, the shower situation was not satisfactory. The house also has a very lived in feel, with clothes hanging in closets.

Stayed Jul 18, 2025This is a vibrant 1890's home in walking distance to all the lake beaches and to great coffee shops, restaurants and grocery/deli on Downer ave. Host is helpful and responsive. We rented for a small family get-together of teens and elders and middle aged folks. We had 10 people at one point. The house has a welcoming and cheerful vibe with thriving plants, a piano, front porch, and fantastic kitchen. It is a lived-in home so all the things you might need for cooking are there, which was really excellent! On the flip side of lived in you will live out of your suitcase as every closet, drawer and dresser is filled with owners things. Important tip: all of the bedrooms (except for one in the basement) are on 3rd and 2nd floor- but the bathrooms are located in the basement, on first floor, and 2nd floor only. So no bathroom on 3rd floor, and at night with 8 bedrooms basically sharing that 2nd floor bathroom, it felt a little challenging esp if dark stairs are not easy for you to traverse. The older members of our group REALLY appreciated the bars for support in entry ways and bathrooms and good railings on all stairways. We also loved the basement rec room with fussball, ping-pong table (!) and deluxe scrabble set! Would definitely recommend, and would stay again.

Stayed Oct 3, 2024The house was very roomy and lots of places to hang out with family and friends. It was awesome that it was close to the lake. The owner had forgotten we were coming and didn’t have the refrigerator cleaned out and our check-in process was a little awkward because we didn’t have the keypad information.

Stayed Aug 28, 2024This spot was great for so many reasons, tons of beds/bedrooms, location was amazing, host was super helpful, and the house has so much old-school character. Had a blast in MKE and plenty of credit goes to our lodging.

Stayed Aug 7, 2024Great play to stay if you're traveling with a large group or family. The house is large and spacious - lots of room for kids to roam and play. Many large bedrooms and never felt cramped with 11 guests. The house is old and shows - doors don't always close fully, bathrooms are functional but dated, and everything creaks - but it's charming and the Victorian detailing is unique.

Stayed Jul 25, 2024The rental was the most cost-effective option for adults who all wanted their own room and at least a queen-sized bed for a vacation in Milwaukee. The house is easy to get to and from, with some shops within walking distance. Just don't miss the 3rd-floor AC controls like we did. The beds are clean, lots of towels were provided. kitchen equipment is your standard random assortment and heavily scratched nonstick pans. we did make one meal using the kitchen so it wasn't impossible. While we were there, only one shower had hot water and worked, but we survived. It's an old home being used as a rental, it's not perfect, but there were worse options that cost more. all in all, I would recommend it.

Stayed Jun 21, 2024A very nice, beautiful, unique house. Old property so understandably there are some issues with natural wear and tear of a domicile, but you can tell work has been put in to update and made the house pleasant to stay in. It is in a nice neighborhood and a good location for traveling around Milwaukee with nearby access to major roads. The owner was very nice and easy to speak with. Our entire group of 7 guys had plenty of individual space in the house with the many rooms, and the AC added to the 3rd floor helped a lot during the heat wave we experienced.

Stayed May 31, 2024We absolutely loved the house; the fireplaces, the little nooks & crannies, the woodwork, the pocket doors. It was fun enough just walking around and experiencing such a great space. The bedrooms were all super spacious and the beds comfortable. Not to mention the kitchen and rec room basement which were super functional. This house was the perfect place to hang with some friends and we made a lot of memories in the house. The neighborhood is also beautiful and you’re just a quick walk from Lake Park and Lake Michigan. Loved it!

Stayed Apr 26, 2024Our Family (Grand Parents, Parents, and Adult Children, (82-26 years old) stayed here for a weekend to attend a Cousin's wedding at the nearby Hubbard Lodge. It was a perfect location and gathering place. We loved the home and there was plenty of sleeping space, enough bathrooms, and a great kitchen! I would highly reccommend for a group.
