We absolutely loved this home! The reviews made us leery but we decided to book and hope for the best. When we pulled up we can see that the reviews held true about it needing some TLC to the outside but we didn’t mind. However we also noticed there was a brand new deck on part of the home (which was great). The space this home provides and every single bedroom having a bathroom was incredible! We had 3 families (11 people + dog) and so much privacy and room to spread out! The theater room and pool table was a fan favorite. We also loved the pool and how clean and nice the furniture around it was. The outdoor bathroom was handy too. The hot tub was great and the elevator was SO incredibly handy for bringing things up! The living room seating area was perfect and so was all the barstools, dining room table etc. we liked all the bedrooms accessed outside to the deck! We enjoyed walking down the street to restaurants & ice cream! We will be back!

This rental was a great place for our large family to stay in. It had everything we needed and enough space for everyone. While it could use a good amount of cosmetic work and some extra cleaning, it made us feel comfortable. We weren’t afraid to be our imperfect selves. The property manager was incredibly accommodating . Every question we had was answered promptly. And when the elevator broke down on the last day, they worked hard to accommodate pit family member who is handicapped and cannot do stairs. We recommend this place for a vacation where you want to relax, especially in a home where you don’t feel out of place.

This was a great spacious home for our first family vacation. We were traveling with a large party and one small dog. Everyone had their own space to rest and relax and then there was plenty of community space to come together. The deck and balcony areas are amazing filled with plenty of seating. It really fit all its needs. We aren’t the perfect family and this place did not make us feel intimidated- we felt we could live in it And the kids could be a little messy and wouldn’t hurt anything. The property managers and company were amazing and should receive more than five star. They were responsive with all issues we had. On our last day, our elevator broke and they tried for hours to fix it. It was impotent because one of our guests is in a wheelchair. When they couldn’t fix it, they came up with a plan and communicated effectively. They truly cared about us and our stay. We wish check in wasn’t so late and check out wasn’t so early. You truly lose a full day or two of the time you are paying for. We would also recommend providing some shade at the pool area. Overall, would recommend this place to families and would stay again.

I loved the hot tub and pool was nice the first few days. After that the pool was filthy and no one came out as it’s posted inside the home to clean it! Landscaping is in poor shape- especially around the pool. Pool loungers are almost all broken. Grills are filthy. Old nails were found on the decking and in the pool. I found out the hard way by stepping on one in the pool. Elevator did not work and there are 45 steps to get to the kitchen and master bedroom. Between getting luggage and the groceries up those steps it was a challenge. Master bathroom jacuzzi tub did not work. Ceiling fan in the great room did not work. Missing lightbulbs for the lamps made it difficult. Master bed (king bed frame ) on the top front floor is broken- squeaks and is slanted. I just moved bedrooms. Needs painting outside and there is just a really bad curb appeal along with landscaping. Has such potential it’s a shame it’s not cared for or well maintained. Made our only vacation this year a bummer!

This home was huge!!! We easily fit 19 adults and kids. Interior was in great shape with newer flooring , beds and couches. Media room was fun but a little hard to use but we figured it out.

Interior was as seen on the web site. Exterior paint is desperately needed. The hot tub cover is in sad shape and needs to be replaced. Fix the elevator please . This was really needed.

The town of Avon is a nice hidden gem of a place if you’re looking to get away from the crowds at Nags Head, Corolla, Kitty Hawk. The house is a bit of walk to the beach but there lose to everything else you could need including a two minute walk to Muffins and Scones-a really nice bakery and coffee shop. The house has some typical beach wear and tear but every bedroom had its own bathroom and all the mattress were very comfy. We were worried because of some recent negative reviews but I think those reviews were over blow. Beast beaches we found were south of Avon at Cape Hattaras National Seashore. There is a day parking area on the sound side which is perfect for small children and watching the sunset. The Oceanside is great for surfing and daylong trips to the beach. Not crowded at all, except for a pod of dolphins.

The positive - kitchen was nice and the main living room area was a great hangout for our family. The pool was nice too although the fence is in very rough shape and many pieces were falling down which was hazardous due to exposed screws/nails. The majority of this house needs MAJOR improvements. There was an exposed tack strip at the threshold of the master bedroom. We had to lay down towels to prevent someone from stepping on the tacks! There were 2 window AC units in the house which seemed strange but soon found out that they were needed to keep the house cool even though there is a central AC unit. The window units were loud which was a bother but again they were needed to cool down the upper level. Several shower fixtures were very loose and the kitchen faucet dripped constantly. Most of the deck doors had broken locks as well. We have a small dog so one of the main reasons we selected Southern Comfort was that the house came up when we searched 'Enclosed Yards'. The pictures online show a fence around the yard with a volleyball net as well. There is NO fence around the yard and there is no volleyball net/area either. Very disappointing...we understand the weather at the OBX and the fence probably had to be taken down but if so then please update the photos online! It is very misleading when booking based on needs of families. Also, the elevator does not work in this house. We did receive a refund at the last minute but again this needs to be communicated earlier. Luckily we were all able to handle the stairs but if someone booked based on elevator being a need, it would've been a really bad situation. We love the OBX and will be back again next year. Unfortunately this home is just not up to par with other so called 'ELITE' homes we have reserved in the past. I hope the owners commit to making this home a better experience for future customers. Cheers, Glenn

We stayed in this house 11 years ago and it was a beautiful place. We booked it again this year because it fit our needs and desires perfectly...until we got there. I received a call on Thursday before our arrival on Sunday to inform us of the a broken elevator. I was offered a refund if I still wanted to stay. At this point, I felt we had no other choice. The family had already taken off work and made arrangements as this was to be our vacation time. With 2 disabled family members the elevator was a great necessity but we managed. The AC wasn't working on the main floor and there was a bad leak under the kitchen sink, which both were fixed promptly. However, when you pay the amount of money we paid, you don't want maintenance guys coming in and out of the home at various times of the week. The pictures on the website are greatly deceiving as the house does not look the same. There was no volleyball net in the front yard, the hottub room was not screened in, and there was no fence around the yard. Many of the outside light fixtures didn't work and some were hanging off the wall. The house has been neglected to say the least. However, Vacsa had just taken over for Outer Beaches in March 2022. So this is probably more of Outer Beaches/owners' responsibility than that of Vacsa.
