Given the recent reviews, which occurred after I booked the property, I was a little concerned, but the house is decent. It's like a hotel that is maybe a year or two past their refresh date. The layout of the house is great for the five adults and one three year old. We were there for the wedding of our daughter so we didn't really use the kitchen much, except for breakfast. The furniture was not dirty as previous reports so maybe it was cleaned before we arrived. The pics clearly show furniture only on the one deck so that was no surprise. There is a little lack of investment: There were literally five hangers between the five bedrooms (we bought and donated 24 more); there was one dishwasher soap pod, no dish soap, no sponge, no laundry detergent, all items that have been in every house we've ever rented, and that's quite a few. It's big, would be comfy for 10 - 12 people, the location is great as it's a few houses from the beach, but it's not luxurious. If you go in with that attitude you'll be satisfied.
Palmetto Place was not what we expected for the money it cost to rent it for a week. The house needs a lot of work. The first floor was the only floor that seemed to be in decent shape. The ceiling fan in the top floor sitting room did not work. Everytime someone took a bath in the top floor bath room you could hear loud dripping in the master bedroom from an apparent leak that was coming from that top floor tub. The ceiling in the master bedroom showed signs of leaking water over the bed. We were concerned the ceiling may cave in while we were there everytime we heard the drip, drip, drip. The top floor shower doors would not stay closed. There are so many porches on the house but no furniture on them except for the main porch off the kitchen area. And that furniture was filthy. The hammock was nice! We enjoyed watching the sunsets from the crows nest on top of the house but we had to stand the whole time because of no furniture. Same on the first floor and the 3rd floor. The ice maker in the refrigerator was frozen up so to get ice we had to open the freezer and remove the ice container. It would have been nice to have a second refrigerator since the house is big enough to house a large group of people. We used the wine cooler for extra drinks. The furniture in the main living area was very, very dirty. Most of the furniture in the house needs to be replaced. The left side garage door would not open therefore we could only park one car in the garage. Lots of spiders in the house as well. Thankfully we had brought cans of bug spray with us. The kitchen supplies were well equipted but very unorganized. The toaster was not working properly. You could tell that the owners of that house didn't put much into keeping it up. Having an elevator was nice! Ocean Park is a lovely destination. We would hope improvements are made to this property so that we would be inclined to rent again in the future.
Property looks good but is tired and all internal furniture, beds, carpets should be replaced. The Kitchen is also poorly equipped, the oven does not work well and should be replaced. The BBQ grill does not work effectively either. The bathrooms should be re done as they are dated and the tiles and grouting is poor and should be replaced. Unfortunately this house should not cost as much based on its poor quality internally. Also I would like to point out the incorrect information presented on this website re the use of the pools at the Bebordeiu club, These are not accessible without paying $200 per day as is suggested on the website, something I find misleading to say the least. Overall I would advise to avoid renting this house until it has been significantly upgraded.
The layout & location of this house is great. Nice that it has a working elevator. The beds were very comfortable. However, it is in need of a makeover as all of the appliances are working marginally. Oven door does not seal well so everything cooks super slow. The freezer never got cold enough to for the ice cream, the dishwasher pods never leave the compartment so dishes are washed with water only although the hot water is super hot so be careful, and the handle is broken off of the washer so the door is hard to open. The dinning table is small & elliptical shape so, even though there are only 8 chairs for this large house, they don't fit at the table & they are very uncomfortable & not child friendly so we had lots of spills as the children had to sit on their knees to reach the table. There is a wonderful rooftop deck with great views but there is no furniture up there to enjoy it. Not sure why this is listed as a chef's kitchen as items supplied are minimally adequate & no toaster oven. Great pantry but the window with no blinds makes it very hot so don't leave anything chocolate in there. Since there are few curtains or blinds anywhere when the sun comes there is no sleeping in. The owners have 2 golf carts parked so they take up half of the garage. The gas grill is totally rusted & the lid is half off. Finally, the requirement of $200/day to use the pool is exorbitant and ridiculous. One of the reasons we started vacationing at Debordieu was the access to the pool as our daughter works out by lap swimming. We talked to several residents about it and they said they don't like renters and that's why they did this to limit us from using the pool. We now feel unwelcome here and will not return.
We had a fabulous stay. This was our second year and have reserved for a 3rd year. I'm hopeful these recommendations will be considered. I think the house could use new living room furniture and rug. They were dirty and the cushions are not very supportive. Only other suggestion is to swap the king bed on the first floor to the bedroom that the queen (green bedspread), is in because it may fit better. Just a thought!?
The house is wonderful! We loved the layout and the house itself. The rating is because for the price, things need updating. BOTH sofas in the main living space are broken. There are 3 large paint swatches stuck to the wall in the main living space that have been there for some time and are peeling off the wall with yucky stuff stuck to them. The dishwasher not bar fridge worked well & insulation was falling out of the ceiling in the basement.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful home. We hope to return.
We enjoyed our stay! Appreciated that the kitchen was well-appointed, and the mattresses and beds were very good. The only downside is the size of the dining table. With the number of people (bedrooms)this house accommodates a larger dining table would be an improvement.
Overall a good experience
Everything was great! WE enjoyed the privacy and quietness of the community.
